The CCP makes Putin look like a weak girl in the playground, when it comes to Countrywide repression.... the CCP is a State Terrorist organisation which is trying to impose its will, now, outside of their own Country. Wake up folks!

For the lesser Educated. Here's a quick rundown on the latest Tech advance within China... they're Forcing their population to use Digital payments for everything... shopping at your grocery store, getting onto a bus, grabbing a taxi... yes, everything, has to be paid for with (no not cash) but with your mobile phone. Now... as I am sure, even most of you all know... China, isn't the most of tolerant of Countries towards Individuals having their own Opinion... so can you think, what will happen to those people who express an Opinion that a "Government Official" doesn't like ? .... what would happen if their Mobile phone could no longer function ?
The CCP has thought around this one, and is banning Individuals from having more than one Mobile phone capable of payments....

The Words "China" and "Data Security"..... do not belong in the same sentence, unless with the darker nuance of... "China owns your Data".

They're joking right ?

When have any Chinese companies successfully refused to do what the CCP-Govt asked?
Frontline PBS TV show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wM1DjkPWtj0 which highlights life under surveillance in China. Tech companies providing the cameras, infra, storage, and programming. Lion - Hauwei and others.
In other countries, we know that govt mandates get refused.

Where are the similar Chinese stories where the CCP-Govt is held accountable?
The first thing that China can do is stop all the internet attacks originating from their country. I see thousands and thousands every day against my little servers. Over 1300 in the last hour from 123.101.0.0-123.101.255.255. That's "CHINANET HENAN PROVINCE NETWORK" To be fair, another 1000 came from 212.70.149.0-212.70.149.255 which is in Great Britain, but the company for that subnet is in the Seychelles. That's were people who don't want to be found often setup companies.
Every hour is about the same. Thousands of hacking attempts against systems they clearly don't have any business accessing.

Everything that I see from China recently is only mistakes.
Foreign policy? Garbage.
How you treat Chinese people? Garbage
How you handle minorities like the Muslims and now Inner Mongolians. Garbage
Xi will take down the party and the country with him.

Well if China practiced what it is advocating with this "initiative", the entire world wouldn't have a problem in the first place.

Ah, "data security" from the CCP. What could possibly go wrong.
Hung Nguyen
It also calls for participants to not engage in large-scale surveillance of other countries or illegally acquire information of foreign citizens through information technology.
I congratulate Xi Jinping and his corrupt regime for putting up a poor show!
The above statement implicitly means "mind your own business" and let us continue using a large-scale high-tech surveillance to subdue minorities in Xinjiang and Tibet, as well as our own citizens throughout China.
vanityofvanities
We can watch Chinese TV news on NHK BS1. Every time I watch it, I feel China is a dangerous country. In China, medias are completely controlled by the government. Government spokes person appear and announce "news" but it is nothing but propaganda of the communist party and their self righteous views. It is a horrible thing that people of China watch it and believe it is true. Establishing global data security by Chinese initiative is a joke.

So if China changes their laws so they can access any data of any entity operating there regardless of the reason . . . that's OK then?
Oh wait, they do already, which is why many companies who do not wish to compromise the privacy/security of their users don't do business there.*Mark
China?
It's like the robber guarding the safe.

I would like to be able to take them at their word. However, reminds me of Melania Trump telling children they shouldn't grow up to be bullies. Ok, but, what about the 800 pound orange gorilla in the room?

gaicuckojin
Nice deflection, Can you explain Chinese law exactly?
I'm pretty sure that american gov is not demanding Chinese companies give up their API's, source code and other proprietary information. I'm pretty sure that the U.S gov has been pretty lax in the straight refusal of Chinese companys to adhere in GAAP standards that required to play in the markets that has contributed to the rise of unpeaceful china. and this has led and continues to lead in massive fraud.
So what Chinese law are you talking about?
Do you have sauce saying that the Tik Tom thing was political.
Are you being trigger by the world forcing the chinese to play by the rules or is this chinese inferiority complex surfacing.
Dont be silly, like recomednfing we trust the CCP
Jim Harper
So China threatening foreign companies with being excluded from China unless they stop referring to Taiwan as a foreign country doesn't count? What about China openly vowing to blackball any country that supports Japan for a permanent UN Security Council seat, or continuing to put pressure on countries that aid Taiwan or support it joining international organisations? Muslims in Xinjiang ring a bell? What about the internal blackout on mentioning Chinese human rights violations like the Tiananmen Square massacre, or China's threat to stop working with governments who try to punish those actions?
And by the way, China does have "an international network of media that parrot CCP narrative and rhetoric against America"; they're just not as successful or as popular as the western equivalent.
America is hardly perfect, but regarding the Chinese government as anything less than a quasi-genocidal tyrannical bully is delusional.
IloveCoffee
Wrong. Just a typical case of subtle disinformation. Twitter, Facebook, Google, Instagram etc. are all allowed to operate in China as long as they follow Chinese law. Google and Facebook refuse to comply with Chinese law, so they weren't allowed to operate in China. It's that simple. You want to operate in China, you follow Chinese law. Can anyone company operate in America if they refuse to follow American law? Tik Tok was not banned because they refuse to follow American law, but entirely for political reasons.
Wrong again. Who is China bullying? Is it China that goes around the world and threaten countries to ban Huawei or else.. Is it China that threatens countries around the world to stop doing business with China or else.. Is it China that not only bans US tech companies for no reason, but also threatens other countries to ban them too? Is it China that has over 300 military bases around the world and kills innocent people which then justifies by saying "oops, we didn't mean it"? Is it China that has completely encircled America with military bases? Is it China that has an international network of media that parrot CCP narrative and rhetoric against America? Is it China that just sanctioned the ICC for investigating US war crimes in Afghanistan?
No, it's America. And by the way, completely coincidentally, almost every information on Xinjiang that gets cited by your trusty trio Reuters, AP and AFP comes from an Australian think-tank called ASPI, which is funded by the US and AUS governments, as well as.. you guessed it, Rhayteon, SAAB and Lockhead Martin. I am that's got nothing to do with their completely objective reporting.
