"One thing that stands out is the speed with which the authorities are reacting, from releasing information to public, "

yeah right, that is why there is so much chaos.

NSW health authorities said more than 38,000 tests had been conducted in the past 24 hours, a new record.

That's a fairly good rate....

So... Japan is doing better because the public don’t know the truth?

lets hope it doesn't get out that theres a bug with a 99.8% survivability rate out there..

and a less than 80% chance of a return to full health.

Social distancing,right.

No one on the beach so it's no problem. No need for the authoritarian stay at home orwelian message.

wrong wish people stop using false information. yes the flu has a mortality rate of 0.2% 99.8 survival rate

covid19 is about 2~4% mortality rate, yes its far more deadly than the flu

its almost unbelievable that here we are a year into this thing, and there are still so many who don't know the difference between IFR and CFR.

what you and others astonishingly continue to ignore is IFR (infection fatality rate). An infection is when the virus gets into the body and the body produces antibodies and fights it off. Usually mild or asymptomatic, no need for a hospital visit. CFR, or Case Fatality Rate is when the symptoms are bad enough to be admitted to hospital. Thas your 2.4% mortality rate - about the same as the flu.

The flu's IFR is 1 tenth of 1 percent. One out of a thousand........99.9 survival rate.

Covid 19 is almost exactly the same.

CFR vs IFR.

Great bob. Tell that to the 1.6 million dead people so far.

Oh, and tell that to the long term people who are still suffering debilitating effects 6-9 months after contracting the virus.

They didn't die from Covid in the vast majority of cases. Numbers really start to look alarming when every 85 year-old with 3 co-morbidities is counted as a Covid victim.

If someone dies of covid, they're a victim of covid.

If someone believes just because the victim had something else like cancer or something, making it easier for them to catch covid, that it's not covid, is frankly one of the lowest intelligence of humans. They are too stupid to figure out how science works, and too stupid to realize that their comments cause other stupid people to be stupid along with them, bringing the overall intelligence level of the planet down.

When enough of these morons are in a single country, they're going to drag it down when the rest of the countries that aren't filled with dumb losers are moving past the virus.
