For some people, Thanksgiving is the only time they can see their family in a year due to other requirements.

We won't be traveling or having guests visit us, but it will be a little lonely, since we usually have huge gatherings with 20+ family members for Thanksgiving. Guess we'll all have to video conference instead and work puzzles in our own homes.

While I understand what you say, with coronavirus rampant and out of control in the USA, massive nationwide travel of a highly infected population may mean this is the last time you see family members who you, or they, may infect one another.

Missing thanksgiving this year is not the end of the world.  But it is possible that due to the spread of coronavirus, it may be for some if people insist on gathering together.  Including your own.  Is a dinner together worth risking your (and others) life for?
