Excellent! Well deserved for the superb response to Covid-19.

What a leader normal down to earth and explained everything and why in regards to CoviD.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

Bad news if so. Labour has quite a week team behind her. When you have people like Phil Twyford ranked at number 4, then as a cabinet you are seriously lacking in ability to get the job done.

NZ gonna be in serious trouble and watch more rights be taken away while the economy crashes hard.

She has ministers holding 4 portfolios simply because most of her cabinet has no idea what the hell they are doing, inexperienced bunch of pixies was her deputy PMs quote.

But there is still a chance this fascist doesnt make it back in.

Source?

Bad news if so. Labour has quite a week team behind her.

But if that's the case, what does it say about the main opposition party, or the voting public?

Great news for New Zealand. A rosy future ahead for the Kiwis. But to be fair the opposition does not have anyone worth voting into office.

I did, and couldn't find it. That's why I asked you.

It's just that you've made up quotes before. So help me out: give me a link to the exact quote, "most of her cabinet has no idea what the hell they are doing, inexperienced bunch of pixies", please.

The Ardern-hating accounts are out in force as usual. Some people just can't deal with a popular, successful female politician.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

Her government has done a good job. Makes sense to keep them in office.

Exactly! She has done really well as the leader of NZ and achieved a lot of success through appropriate governance. These haters who have achieved nothing in their own life are hiding in their tiny apartments or parents basement bashing her just for her being a successful woman! These types of people support old male politicians especially those who achieve nothing productive!

The NZ voting system is probably the most democratic on our planet. And if She wins get over it. I do remember some posters resorting to physical negative comments, I don't care myself I want a government that helps me my family have a happy life. And she appears to being doing that.

Not a huge Ardern fan but I do think she’s better than the current alternative. Re: the woke pixie comments from Peters... he only has himself to blame. He put Ardern in the top spot out of pure spite. Bill English’s National party was ripped off. That’s politics in NZ though.

Ardern talks a good game, but over the past three years her government has been found wanting. They are very good at announcing policies but not good at implementing anything. Kiwibuild was a spectacular failure for example.

That said, the only hope for National is that the Greens fail to make the 5% threshold, which appears unlikely at this stage, but we can live in hope.

Agreed on Kiwibuild. But to be fair, the previous National government didn't implement a whole lot - except a big diversion over changing the flag.

They did implement fees free for the first year of tertiary education.

But this just goes to how a strong and competent response to the coronavirus has changed this party's fortunes. Labour actually got less votes than National in the last election, but Peters, the kingmaker put them in power. They were poised to lose again, but the response to the coronavirus has gained Jacinda and Labour a lot of respect.

Just imagine if Trump had acted like a strong and decisive leader on covid. He would be have been unbeatable. Unfortunately for him he is incompetent, panics in a crisis, and is unwilling to think of anyone but himself.

No it hasn't. Her government is extremely popular for how they have run the country over the past few years.

A tiny minority of loud voices does not change reality. It's just a bunch of loud people on the internet who figure if they make things up, people will believe them. Unfortunately they're right sometimes.

Strangerland No completely incorrect, even her own deputy PM thinks she runs a weak and pixie like bunch of fools.

Guess you have to go find the truth your self.

She has run the country into the ground is how she has run the country.

Yeah, right. But nobody takes what Winston Peters says seriously. He isn't in the same party as Ardern and didn't even win his own seat last time. He is the deputy because he was able to act as kingmaker and put Labour in power.

She’s extremely popular among the people, cherished, and about to win re-election by a landslide.

I love watching right-wingers around the world trying to frame her as anything else other than awesome, when she’s nearly universally loved. Sucks that the world hates your ideology don’t it.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

World doesn't hate my idealogy at all, everyone with half a working brain cell knows socialism is a fail, you will wake up one day too. She isn't awesome she is awful !

He is the deputy because he was able to act as kingmaker and put Labour in power.

Yes correct she didn't get in on her own merit, the election isnt over either.

But giving millions of people others peoples money fools the fools for only so long then what is she going to do? She has no real answers cant't fulfill her last promises but can fool the fools.

Can I ask a third time for you to source your quote?

This is the one point I can agree with. Ardern was very much looking like a one term Prime Minister prior to COVID coming along. She got some things right during the response, such as sidelining some of her less competent ministers who would not inspire trust in the public, the hapless Phil Twyford, Kelvin Davis, David Clark and so on. Unfortunately though it remains that there is very little talent in her caucus, and outside of Ardern, Grant Robertson and one or two others, they have very few people of genuine ability.

@strangerland

Actually there has been misstep after misstep. Kiwibuild, Auckland light rail, Czech drug dealers being granted residency and so on. Although I disagree with aspects of how Ardern and co have handled COVID, they have done a passable job. Prior to that it was a dog's breakfast. Ardern was booed by the crowd at a rugby game in Eden Park last year, which shows how unpopular she was amongst much of the population pre-COVID.

A real inspiration, her responses to the Christchurch massacre and Covid 19 have been exemplary.

Seems to incur the wrath of angry middle aged men, for some reason.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Some people seem to think that the dislike for Ardern is a gendered thing. A nice way of deflecting attention some real issues with her and her party. If anything her party is let down by having so many incompetent men in cabinet. Hipkins, Clark, Twyford, Davis etc. Most private sector companies in New Zealand wouldn't employ these guys.
