For thousand years, South Asians lived in peace and respect.

No, they didn’t. I’m not denying the influence of the colonial powers, but let’s not rewrite history, eh?

Scary stuff...they have been lighting each other up for years but this is kind of an escalation. I remember living in the far west of India (northwest for that matter) for a year over 25 years ago....at that time it was not unheard of for rockets to be exchanged but shooting down not one, but two planes is a bit intense.

Let's hope calmer heads will prevail.

It's amazing to see both Indian and Pakistani crowds baying for blood and escalation when they all know both countries are nuclear-armed.

They eagerly rush towards death like Europeans in 1914, but in our convenient modern world, they won't even have to leave home to find it.

If there's one thing on this planet that scares and depresses me even more than global warming, it's the knowledge that while the West has had its nationalist brainfart in the 20th century, with a rather pathetic second wave in the 21st, behind that there's a monstrous tsunami of nationalism in developing nations that has yet to wreak its inevitable damage on the world.

Nationalism is the romance that always ends in tears.

Very scary. Both have about 200 nukes.

The trouble is that these border area tribes and militants respect neither Indian nor Pakistani law;, they are living by tribal laws, traditional customs and when it suits them Sharia law.

Ungovernable.

Pakistan has little to loose other than people in a Serious conflict, however the World has more to loose should both go Nuclear - what happens for example, if Pakistan Nukes Mumbai... or any of the other Tech centric areas providing Global services ? Then it become a Global issue.

Wow amazed at how people are misinformed on Pakistan India issue. For example @AlexBecu says Pakistan got Nukes first. The truth is that India got them in 1973 while Pakistan developed afterwards and reached that capability in 1990s. People should understand that when they don't know what they are talking about, not commenting is a better option.

Hope after Indian attack on trees and retaliation from Pakistan, both countries will show restraint and no further escalation.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

I hope both countries will show restraint after this. But response from Pakistan was justified under given circumstances. I hope both Pakistan and India should understand that Kashmir is an unresolved issue and they must find some solution through dialogs.

Pakistan better be careful. India would trounce them.

carries out strikes in Kashmir

Are they still arguing about Kashmir? Perhaps Robert Plant can mediate...

China...have also called for restrain

China gave Pakistan nukes, is also its biggest arms supplier, but is calling for restraints. Is there a forked tongue hiding somewhere?

Not to mention Chinese made assault riffles frequently used by Islamic militants, I wonder how they got those.

This is not true, you are portraying Indian's media in Japan (actual facts are totally different).

Pakistan is not supporting any militant based groups in Pakistan, it is RAW (Indian Agency) using money to destabilize Pakistan.

14/Feb incident took by a Kashmiri's that belongs to Indian Occupied Kashmir not from Pakistan.

You can visit Pakistan along with DG ISPR to realize the reality instead of publishing fake articles that does not consist any truth.

Nationalism is the romance that always ends in tears.

This has less to do with nationalism but the the pakistani jihadi ecosystem which so far had been operating with immunity, those air raids earlier shook that foundation and hence this situation, and since there airforce is responding, shows that the jihadi's and the pakistani army are one and the same thing.

Pakistan unfortunately is not taking any action against terror groups operating from it's soil. Iran, Afghanistan and India, more particularly India and Afghanistan had been regular victims. Pakistan disregards global requests, global opinions, global condemnations of it's support to terror groups in it's soil.

Therefore, the Countries which are affected have to take their own steps as a measure of self defense. Against Countries like Pakistan, preemptive strikes on all it's terror camps repeatedly is the only option left to these countries. How China is not proscribing UN proscribed terror head in Pakistan is really surprising.

In my opinion Pakistanis were given this chance by the Indian “alleged” cross border strikes claiming to have killed 300 terrorists without a shred of proof shared with anyone.

Indians by crossing into another countries airspace have opened up a pandora box. India isn’t as mighty as they think they are and Pakistan isn’t as weak as Indians perceive, both countries sitting on a stockpile of nukes can destroy the entire world.

I sincerely hope the sanity prevails on both sides and it doesn’t escalate

@martinjp

The jihadis, pakistani army and these reporters working in sync, no mention of the pakistani f-16 which was shot down, and no mention of what was hit earlier in those air raids.

You forgot to add respected international press and media outlets like Reuters, BBC, AP into the mix.

I hope India will show the wreckage of shot down F-16, like the Pakistanis did or otherwise stop lying to the entire world.

Well the pakistani army showed the wreckage of the F-16 which was shot down, not to mention the pilot of that F-16, was lynched by his own people, and the poor pilot will not get any award, as his existence has been denied.

You forgot to add respected international press and media outlets like Reuters, BBC, AP into the mix.

Well that media plays the divide and rule game beautifully and you play right into their game plan..wake up!!

Great.

Trump might actually cool N.K.s and these buffoons decide to kick on.

The Pakistanis may be covering up something. If the Indians killed Pakistani trained terrorists, they could not claim without facing wrath of US and others, particularly after they harboured bin Laden. The Pakistanis say, however, that no one was killed. Then, why retaliate? Sure, the Indians violated sovereignty, but so did the US. The us chose the wrong countries to invade post 911.

I'm not Indian or a Muslim but from what I can tell Pakistan has always been more of the aggressor. They also got nukes first forcing India to aquire them as well.

It's similar to if S. Korea attacked Japan than Japan responded in defense, yet some people will still portray Japan as an aggressor.

For thousand years, South Asians lived in peace and respect. That had changed by the colonial minority who ruled majorities by divide and conquer. Time to say good bye to the lines drawn by the injustice past.

India ha to respond to Pakistans terrorism.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Pakistan started it.
