Simply good Russia. Thank you.

That's great to see global co-operation. The question remains and has to be asked: why was the US so ill-prepared for this virus when medical experts had said for years one was highly likely, some even said inevitable, and when US intelligence agencies had warned months ago this particular virus monster had been released. Rot starts at the top.

Good by Russia; everybody should help each other here

(Though hopefully better than the high failure rate of the Chinese-given kits)

Although for some reason, there's some in Russia pushing that US Covid-19 conspiracy theory

I'm glad that despite our differences we managed to keep our discussion within civilized borders.

Be safe, and keep safe your family and friends!

Russia is as much a geopolitical enemy of the United States as China is.

This is good news. We all need to be working together to tackle this issue. It would be great if republicans understand this and stopped obstructing the democrats in their attempts to help the American people.

Thanks to Russia.

There is always some global problem about to happen.

3 months ago, it was all about climate change and plastics in the food supply.

issues that are unlikely are seldom prepared for. Human nature. Be buy insurance for things that are common enough to be expected. Floods, Earthquakes, Cancer, Cyber attacks, business liability. I've never seen a "pandemic" insurance policy.

Yes, close:

*To cosmopolitan liberals**, it is Russia that serves as America’s chief geopolitical adversary. Even in Russia’s weakened and impoverished state, they fear the deftness with which its operatives act in connivance with illiberal elements in the world’s diverse market democracies to undermine them from within. Nationalist conservatives see rising Chinese power as the far graver threat to American interests, and they are increasingly open to wielding the power of the state to resist and counter Beijing’s depredations, despite the cost to economic freedom that may well result.*

Somce we know liberals are far smarter than conservatives, well . . .

@BigYen

I would have thought it's a bit early for the Russians to start offering help to other countries

They offered help even earlier. A group of Russian military epidemiologists has been working already for several days in the hardest-hit area of nothern Italy, while NATO did nothing to help its member.

They spent a fair few weeks deriding the US's domestic response to the epidemic and now they've got a growing infection list of their own

You monitor Russian media? Can you share examples of this "deriding"? And while Russians have their share of problems with the virus, the infection lists of Russia and the U.S. show pretty clearly what country is much better prepared and employed much more effective countermeasures.

Anyway, nice to see some good will of the two great countries. I hope they'll cooperate more.

Not like China, not even close.

@BigYen

I've given you a credible source of information regarding Russia's responses on this issue

What makes you think that this source is credible? Usual MSM stuff, ready to see Putin's fiendish plans in everything. There's a difference between "credible" and "I want to believe in it" which you seem to be unable to distinguish.

Also, unlike you, I seem to have been watching the news a bit more closely than you have. Perhaps these early Russian responses to the crisis unfolding in the West escaped your attention at the time

Pretty conceited statement. If my opinion differs from yours it does not mean I know the subject less then you do.

But why are you so defensive about someone questioning the wisdom of Russia's expending scarce

I don't think a team of medics in Italy and two planes with supplies to the U.S. will bleed Russian resources white. At least Russians try to help others who are hit much harder then they are. Very different approach from many Western countries. By the way, thank you very much that you do not push the "Unity of the West" topic. That would be really laughable. Had NATO countries helped Italy a lot of lives could be saved.

@BigYen

The article pretty much sums it up

Thanks for the link, but there is just an opinion of one guy. I saw no proof of "few weeks deriding" as you claimed. Deriding was in February, even on JT threads, about Japanese response to the Diamond Princess case.

Note the emphases on Western discord, governmental inefficiency, loose social discipline, the unravelling of (a presumably false) unity

Well, if we look objectively at the situation in Western countries we can come to conclusion that this emphasis is very well-deserved. Or you want to call their measures efficient? And geez, what unity?? Russian military doctors are helping Italia, but where are military doctors from NATO allies? They could have helped long before the situation at their countries became dangerous. Czechs even tried to steal masks that China sent to Italia via Czech. Great unity!

I really, really hope that the epidemic in Russia doesn't develop as disastrously as it has in some of those countries

Fully agree on that. I really hope that the U.S., Europe, Japan, Russia and other countries stop the virus before it becomes more horrible.

Good on Russia, I always said as bad as Russia can be geopolitically they are really not in the sense our true enemy, that was always the CCP and we should never lose sight of that. The real enemy has always been China and that becomes more evident with each passing day.
