Seems on the rise everywhere

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

22 people died on Wednesday. Out of a population of just under 52 million.

Here, in the US, over 3,600 died the same day. We have, what, 6.5-ish times the population of South Korea.

So, doing the math, 6.5 ish times 22 = 135.

If the US had the same mortality rate, we'd have 135 /3,600 which equal: what the hell is wrong with my country?!

Bad leadership throughout 2020 for the most part. No, not just "bad leadership" but a deranged mind who politicizes anything and everything for his own power and can only sow hate and divisiveness.

But the really sad thing is that so many of my countrymen, regardless of political persuasion, not only voted an obviously unfit conman into office but are still sending him money.

No country is immune from COVID19 and it needs to be brought under control.

While I didn't vote him down, I do offer exceptions to the "everywhere".

New Zealand and Australia.

Northern hemisphere nations, on the other hand, heading into winter, everyone indoors - 'tis the season for respiratory viruses.

That combined with seasonal gatherings, general fatigue with restrictions, and misplaced optimism that now that there's a vaccine, it's ok to ignore the advice of experts means a shocking and unfortunate rise almost everywhere.

IF we can all just hold it together for a little bit more, we can save a lot of lives. And not just those of the covid-vulnerable, those of others who won't get medical attention because hospitals are full or covid patients.

Please, everyone, just have a cozy Christmas.

And plant the seeds for a better year ahead by ending this one with a bit of extra care and kindness for everyone around you.

Yes taj, neither I nor i@n most likely intended "everywhere" to literally mean absolutely everywhere. The term was used to point out that South Korea is hardly alone in it's situation.

423 daily cases resulted in 22 daily deaths.

If we extrapolate, we should have 44 deaths daily only in Tokyo.
