Pocahontas was a Disney movie, I hardly think of it as a racist term.

Pocahontas was a Disney movie, I hardly think of it as a racist term.

Say what? He's referring to someone by their shared ethnicity with a well known native female, in a pejorative manner. You are trying to say that using ethnicity in a pejorative manner is not racist.

At the very least, it's pretty pathetic for the leader of a first-world nation.

37 ( +43 / -6 )

It's just Trump being Trump. Soon, he'll deny that he ever said it, then he'll say it again, then deny he ever said it. Some will recognize the pattern as a form of psychopathy; others will simply continue to nod along.

27 ( +30 / -3 )

For Trump's fanatic followers, his raging bigotry isn't a bug, it's a feature.

30 ( +33 / -3 )

what a racist moron

27 ( +30 / -3 )

Trump never speaks in code -- he lets us know every day in every way how racist he is. How sad for these heroes and their families attending.

25 ( +28 / -3 )

Trump says there is a 'Pocahontas' in the U.S. Congress

And a Jim Crow in the White House

19 ( +21 / -2 )

Dango bong,

“Pocahontas was a Disney movie, I hardly think of it as a racist term.”

The movie was about the life of the actual Pocahontas, so it’s logical and acceptable for that to be the name of the movie. Using the term to refer to other people, whose actual name is not Pocahontas, is not acceptable.

22 ( +25 / -3 )

How small a man he seems when standing among heroes.

25 ( +27 / -2 )

Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas.

No, you call her Pocahontas you moron.

30 ( +32 / -2 )

you know...the media and people bash Trump for many things that I feel are ridiculous or not significant....but this? Total lack of class exhibited by Trump and far below what one would expect from a President when honoring these men. My goodness......we had taught my kids not to act this way before they were out of elementary school. What the heck?!?!?

19 ( +21 / -2 )

It's good to finally have a president that honors those that fought for the freedoms he has to protect from the MSM!

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

How sad for these heroes and their families attending.

And for all Navajo people and all other indigenous people

How small a man he seems when standing among heroes.

Once again Ol' Bonespurs demeans people who served in the military.

What a disgrace.

19 ( +21 / -2 )

Sorry, no Pocahontas in Congress. But we do have a Pinocchio as the so called President of the United States.

I never did find out if there was really thousands upon thousands of muslims cheering on top of buildings on 9/11. Or if there really were 3 million undocumented immigrants who voted for Hillary. No? What about ISIS being defeated in 30 days. Still no? So much for the tremendous evidence that Obama was really born in Kenya.

Sit down Donnie boy!

21 ( +23 / -2 )

"I think what most people find offensive is Senator Warren lying about her heritage to advance her career," Sanders told reporters.

Sanders surely knows that whatever issues people may have about Warren's past statements regarding her ethnic background, Trump bringing the topic up during an event to honor Native American war heroes is utterly shameful. How can anyone want to defend this behavior?

21 ( +24 / -3 )

How can anyone want to defend this behavior?

Americans who want to go back to the 1950's, or as some have said the 1850's, probably defend it. And of course Trump's true believers. Scary that a cult of personality is forming.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Trump's background is German isn't it? If he can refer to Warren as Pocahontas, I guess we shouldn't have any qualms about calling him Hitler. If the shoe fits... ;)

13 ( +17 / -4 )

just looking for something to bash Trump over.

Yeah, that darned liberal Fox News at it again.

just looking for something to bash Trump over.

There is never any need to look. He provides something new just about every day.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

I am not American, but does this Warren lady actually have indigenous heritage?

The way it looks to me as a non-American is that the moron president is mocking what he sees as false claims to such heritage.

He seems to be calling her a liar, not disparaging those of indigenous heritage.

-15 ( +7 / -22 )

President Trump correctly called out a democrat senator for falsely appropriating an entire culture to advance her career and establishment liberals will be running around for the rest of the week with their hair on fire.

-21 ( +6 / -27 )

Why is this racist moron still in office?

13 ( +15 / -2 )

no no we sahll not report on record stock markets and unemployment and crime prevention and consumer confidence, we need to focus on off the cuff remarks that do not mean anything. sue disney if you dont like the term

-20 ( +2 / -22 )

Good on the President to give her both barrels. ROFL

At an event to honor Native Americans? Just inappropriate. Period.

17 ( +19 / -2 )

Trump's just speaking down to the level of his base. They like racially charged statements and he delivers for them.

Not so much delivery on North Korea, tax reform, healthcare, immigration, etc., but they aren't too interested in that stuff.

13 ( +16 / -3 )

Texas A&M AggieToday  08:40 am JST

President Trump correctly called out a democrat senator...

At a time when it was totally inappropriate to do so. Why would he bring something like this up when the event was SUPPOSED to be honouring WW2 veterans? Wouldn't you rather he did just his job instead of making cheap jibes about whoever he doesn't like?

16 ( +17 / -1 )

In front of a portrait of Andrew Jackson, no less.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Trump says there is a 'Pocahontas' in the U.S. Congress

Ironically, as Andrew Jackson look on.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Once again much ado about nothing. Trump has rightly called out Warren for taking advantage of diversity teaching posts at Harvard and Penn by claiming a bogus Native American heritage.

She is just another lying, hypocritical limousine liberal.

-17 ( +6 / -23 )

Now little kids in school that hear this can start teasing their Native American classmates with it. Trump fans will love that since they don't consider them to be white people anyway.

17 ( +19 / -2 )

At an event to honor Native Americans? Just inappropriate. Period.

I thought it was a perfect moment. Period....and I would have continued on the point....

They like racially charged statements and he delivers for them.

Excuse me, but Warren was the one that insulted an entire indigenous race.

Not so much delivery on North Korea, tax reform, healthcare, immigration, etc., but they aren't too interested in that stuff.

They have been, but the haters are too busy frothing and seething at the mouth to get at Trump that they are blinded by the daily news.

-27 ( +4 / -31 )

I think this man has serious mental health issues. His deterioration is playing out for all to see quite rapidly.

Not that it excuses his wanton racism and attention seeking, though.

14 ( +17 / -3 )

bass4funkToday  08:53 am JST

"At an event to honor Native Americans? Just inappropriate. Period."

I thought it was a perfect moment.

No surprises there, then.

Period....and I would have continued on the point....

No need at all to say anything about the Navaho veterans and how they served their country in WW2, then? Trump wouldn't know much about that kind of thing, of course.

13 ( +14 / -1 )

I was in the military for quite a while. I followed the orders of Bill Clinton, whether I liked him or not. I respect the office of the President, regardless of who occupies it. I was not a fan of Obama, but yes, as an American, he was my president just as Trump is now.

I even have to admit to liking some of Trump's policies. I appreciate cracking down on illegal immigration. I like his strong stance against North Korea. I liked the overall theme of his campaign, putting America first, something we had been lacking in the past. When he actually got elected, I was thinking 'Well, it was him or Hillary, we were screwed either way, how bad can it be...?'

Aaaand then he opens his mouth...

For every one dumb thing he says on Twitter that you roll your eyes at as Trump being Trump, there's two of these. I mean, I get it, in his mind, he thinks he's just making a dumb joke. I know it's crazy, but I honestly don't believe that he is intentionally being offensive. He's like that old uncle that always says something embarrassing at family events and just doesn't get what he did wrong.

But dammit, this guy is the president! Where the hell are his handlers? Does he even have any? Teleprompters? Maybe a shock collar for when he starts to go off script? Something!

16 ( +18 / -2 )

No need at all to say anything about the Navaho veterans and how they served their country in WW2, then? Trump wouldn't know much about that kind of thing, of course.

Guess you missed the entire story where he heaped praise on them for their heroic service during the war.

-18 ( +3 / -21 )

Trump has mouthed off again and at this particular setting? He has no tact or sense of diplomacy. As others have said, it's completely inappropriate.

How very dignified the Navaho representatives were, maintaining silence after that racial slur. Real proud Americans.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

President Trump correctly called out a democrat senator for falsely appropriating an entire culture to advance her career

Whether that's true or not, doesn't change the fact that he is being a bigot in his methods of calling her out. It's entirely unacceptable.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

It's obvious that what's most important to Trump supporters in this case (again) is that liberals get a finger in the eye. That gives Trumpsters a collective chubby. Doesn't matter that Native Americans are derided in the process, or that the office of the presidency is cheapened, or that unnecessary discord is sown.

Pretty pathetic.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

"I think what most people find offensive is Senator Warren lying about her heritage to advance her career," Sanders told reporters.

Trump may have to run against Warren if he survives his first term, so they're starting the smear campaign early. Repeat something often enough, and even complete nonsense gains an air of truth.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Trump may have to run against Warren if he survives his first term, so they're starting the smear campaign early. Repeat something often enough, and even complete nonsense gains an air of truth.

And to give them credit, it worked great with Hillary. They managed to convince the people that she was equally as horrible as Trump. She had her problems, but nothing like him, and 11 months of his presidency has shown that.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

No, they're equally slimy, Hillary is just a little better at keeping her mouth shut.

Case in point.

(note that I liked your previous post quite a bit though)

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Usual suspects here crying racism this, racism that.

I just think, after decades, its about time we got the biology correct and stopped being so lazy.

We all belong to the same race, Homo Sapiens, its our ethnicity that varies.

Racism would logically suggest you hate ALL humans, because fundamentally we're all the same biologically speaking.

Ethnicicism lol? Doesn't quite roll of the tongue so easily but its a lot more accurate.

We need a new term, or we could just say something like "ethnic prejudice"

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

We need a new term, or we could just say something like "ethnic prejudice"

We have a term: bigotry.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

I am not American, but does this Warren lady actually have indigenous heritage?

It seems not, but her parents told her all her life that she did, and she believed it. Wouldn't you?

He seems to be calling her a liar, not disparaging those of indigenous heritage.

You can do both at the same time. And really, Trump mocking others for lying should be insulting to everyone's intelligence.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Hispanics, Muslims, women, LGBT people, African-Americans, Native Americans... Trump's bigotry is a godsend to those who were too afraid to reveal their inner bigots. It must be very cathartic for them, this process of making America great again.

Meanwhile, the rest of the world looks on, aghast.

Of course, one could put it down to his mental health issues. But whatever the reason, he's clearly not fit to be in office.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Yeah, it's not like people would actually want to remove these traits from humanity.

Some evidently don't. It's the only way they know how to communicate. Trump is their lifeline. Because... words.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

My parents told me I was a police dog up until I was about 4

FOX viewers (at the average age of 70) think that Obama was born in Kenya

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Once again, President Trump played her and everyone else on the left like a fiddle.

He knew she and her liberal enablers would respond. It now gives him the opportunity to tell all Americans she lied about her heritage on her college entrance papers in order to advance her academic career by stealing a spot that would have otherwise been given to a bonafide Native American.

Well done, Mr. President. . . .

-16 ( +2 / -18 )

by stealing a spot that would have otherwise been given to a bonafide Native American.

Bit like Texas being stolen from its bona fide owners.

Interesting how some commentators once again, try to deflect and obfuscate the racist remarks of their leader.

Racism, sexual assaults, selling the country out to Russia, lying on a daily basis. If this is leadership, give me the swamp any day.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Once again, President Trump played her and everyone else on the left like a fiddle. He knew she and her liberal enablers would respond. It now gives him the opportunity to tell all Americans she lied about her heritage on her college entrance papers in order to advance her academic career by stealing a spot that would have otherwise been given to a bonafide Native American.

So bringing up the topic himself was his clever strategy for bringing up the topic? Brilliant!

He's playing some people like a fiddle, but it's not the left...

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Once again, President Trump played her and everyone else on the left like a fiddle.

No. He used an event purposed to honor a particular ethnic group to simultaneously insult that group and score a cheap political point. That many on the right would obediently nod along with what was an outrageous comment was predictable, but that does not make the slavish obedience any less shocking.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Texas: Well done, Mr. President. . . .

Look, I know you feel like you've been kicked in the teeth for 8 years and need to lash out, but this isn't something you want to do, and certainly not at a ceremony like that. You need to get whatever it is out of your system so we can restore a little dignity to the White House.

You're also going to have your first group of kids becoming politically aware over the next few years and you don't want them to see stuff like this from our President. So seriously, get your revenge then grow up. Everyone is waiting.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

She is just another lying, hypocritical limousine liberal.

Attention FOX viewers/Trump followers: Trump has won. The US is great again with high stockmarket. Why are you angry? You are more angry than when Obama was president. According to Hannity and Friends on FOX News Trump (with Jared) is the magic bullet for all of the US's problems. But there is still a lot of anger and hatred.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

No need at all to say anything about the Navaho veterans and how they served their country in WW2, then?

That doesn’t have anything to do with Liz Warren jumping on the gravy train and lying her way to get through college posing as something she was not.

Trump wouldn't know much about that kind of thing, of course.

Seems like Warren less so.

How very dignified the Navaho representatives were, maintaining silence after that racial slur. Real proud Americans.

What garbage! Pocahontas is not a racial slur since this was an actual person, not like Warren that was totally insensitive about Native Americans and used these great people to further her education, sickening this woman!

Trump may have to run against Warren if he survives his first term,

Warren would get body slammed “The Rock” style. I pray that she runs, I really do.

so they're starting the smear campaign early. Repeat something often enough, and even complete nonsense gains an air of truth.

The GOP have the Dems as their best role model for that, weak on virtually ever policy, but when it comes to smearing, No one could EVER beat a Democrat.

-15 ( +4 / -19 )

The only thing that surprises me is what the orange buffoon DOESN'T say at this point.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Bass: Warren never lied. Try sticking with facts. Actual facts, not alternative ones.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

Guess you missed...

Oh, you "guess", do you? Guess all you like. You missed the point of my comment. Anyway, if anyone missed Trump praising the veterans, no wonder. Thanks to his stupid mouth and obsessive need to insult anyone he dislikes at any opportunity, that is not the story. No one is going to remember him acting presidential and doing the job properly now, it's just going to go down as another reason for his critics to say he's grossly unfit for the office.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

She sure did

Did she lie on any official government forms?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

bass4funkToday  10:38 am JST

No need at all to say anything about the Navaho veterans and how they served their country in WW2, then?

"That doesn’t have anything to do with..."

It has more to do with the actual purpose of the event. You do remember what that was, don't you?

...Liz Warren jumping on the gravy train...

Now I don't think that DOES have anything to do with Native Americans serving in WW2, which is kind of what I would expect the President of the United States to spend the time talking about as I do think he was supposed to be honoring them. I'm just going to assume you can't explain the relevance and that anything further you add is an incomprehensible non sequitur or just a rehash of something else you've written.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Your son has bigger problems

Trump has real problems with Jared.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

This person lied and appropriated an entire culture in order to get a job under diversity hiring just they otherwise wouldn’t have gotten.

Where are all of you that are so offended by Trump’s lies? It’s ok if Warren lies too?

so we are now upset about insulting someone’s fake heritage? And I guess Andrew Jackson is “bad” now too?

Do any Trump supporters here do that? If not, why?

I'm just going to assume you can't explain the relevance and that anything further you add is an incomprehensible non sequitur or just a rehash of something else you've written.

I did. But with all due respect if you think Trump’s calling her out was inappropriate that’s your prerogative, you have your opinion and I’ll have mine.

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

She sure did. Funny, when pressed on her lies about posing as a Native American She never answers and I mean never answers or talks about the issue. The woman is a joke.

What happened to Trump's tax returns? Trump University? His investigation into the millions of illegal votes? Trump never talks about those issues anymore...

The joke is that you and your friends actually care about an old and resolved story about an honest mistake, while giving a pass to the unresolved lies from Trump, a pedophile senator, the dismantling of net neutrality, etc.

For all our sakes, learn to sift out the important facts and issues.

16 ( +16 / -0 )

Commenters here and the media sure have a hard time recognizing when someone is being 'mocked' for their manufactured outrage over their obviously fake culture appropriation. As a majority of you here and almost all the media 'mock' Trump every single day, seems Trump's type of comments would look familiar to you.

-17 ( +1 / -18 )

Does anyone remember Trump supporters making demented whooping noises when Trump mentioned Pocahontas?

No I dont, because that was the staff of Scott Brown. who apologized, regretted it and called it unacceptable. Which by Democrat rules is the same as it never happening at all.

There was no lying.

It’s ok if Warren lies too?

She never lied.

so we are now upset about insulting someone’s fake heritage?

When they use bigoted language to do so, yeah.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

what a racist moron

Heh, leftists have become so so disconnected from reality that they now honestly believe President Trump calling out a liar who is a liar is now racist. . . .

-15 ( +0 / -15 )

Typical. This has zero to do with Warren's claims and whatever their veracity. It is about Trump hijacking a solemn event for his own partisan purpose. (It also may be about the legitimacy of concerns regarding Trump's mental health.)

But of course, when Trump supporters yell "Squirrel!" there are those who cannot help but look.

Trump marred an important occasion with comments many found deeply offensive. There is no evading that fact.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

His investigation into the millions of illegal votes?

He shouldn’t? Yeah, of course the left would hate that.

Trump never talks about those issues anymore...

He does, but you guys are so busy hating on the man, you guys miss the coverage.

The joke is that you and your friends actually care about an old and resolved story about an honest mistake,

Ok, so now libs want a pass because it was a mistake. No one told Warren to lie about her ethnicity. She has No room to criticize the president on lies and deception, I would rip her one as well.

while giving a pass to the unresolved lies from Trump, a pedophile senator, the dismantling of net neutrality, etc.

Alleged and you think the government should control and interfere with the market again? Liz Warren put herself in this situation and now she knows the cost of lying and taking advantage of a sacred Nation tribe.

For all our sakes, learn to sift out the important facts and issues.

Oh, if only the left would heed their own words.

-15 ( +0 / -15 )

When you elect a racist to the office, he will be a racist in the office.

No surprise there.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

For one, there are scant women of color as role models. In my three years at Stanford Law School, there were no professors who were women of color. Harvard Law School hired its first woman of color, Elizabeth Warren, in 1995."

Of 71 current Law School professors and assistant professors, 11 are women, five are black, one is Native American and one is Hispanic, said Mike Chmura, spokesperson for the Law School.

So she didnt lie? so how did people get this impression of her and why did she not correct it when she read the articles?

You can say 'perjorative' twice, it still doesnt make it a slur or a racist term sorry. So why wont she talk about if she still believes she is a minority or not to clear this up? You know why, because if she says she isnt that means she lied on employment documents. If she says she is, well then thats a lie because its not true.

-15 ( +0 / -15 )

in order to get a job under diversity hiring just they otherwise wouldn’t have gotten.

Hold on! That would be a crime to lie on official forms. Why isn't the FBI investigating this? That is a crime! Don't you think the FBI should investigate? Hanity and Friends should have a field day with this. It is a crime to lie on official documents. Why are Trump followers ignoring this fact?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Trump misspoke (no surprise there).

The correct term is "Fauxcahontas", which more accurately describes Sen. Warren's adventures in identity politics and victimhood expropriation.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

leftists have become so so disconnected from reality that they now honestly believe President Trump calling out a liar who is a liar is now racist

No, saying racist stuff is what makes him racist.

So she didnt lie?

Nope.

how did people get this impression of her and why did she not correct it when she read the articles?

Because she believed it to be true.

I suspect you don't actually know what 'lie' means:

a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.

something intended or serving to convey a false impression; imposture:

Continuing:

You can say 'perjorative' twice, it still doesnt make it a slur or a racist term sorry

It does when he uses it in a bigoted manner.

Sorry, you can try to escape that fact all you want, but it was racist, and therefore we can just keep going back there.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Why are Trump followers ignoring this fact?

Because we have more important things to worry about than Elizabeth Warren's self serving claims to be a minority to get jobs back in the 1990s. We can just mock her time to time about her unwillingness to 'come clean' about it and then move on to important things. She really should clear this up if she plans to run in 2020.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

BlacklabelToday  11:05 am JST

Commenters here and the media sure have a hard time recognizing when someone is being 'mocked' for their manufactured outrage over their obviously fake culture appropriation.

Doesn't matter. He should have spent all the time talking about veterans, not political opponents.

15 ( +15 / -0 )

Because we have more important things to worry about

A crime? If she is a criminal and trump does not investigate her that makes trump just as guilty. If warren is arrested and jailed then you win the argument. Don't you want that criminal arrested? There is nothing more important than having a crime investigated for falsifying official documents

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Because she believed it to be true.

That is 75% of the things that you call lies from Trump. Things that he believes to be true. She gets no pass from me, just like he gets none from you. She knows by now whether she is or isnt, so which one is it? Still claims her 1/32 part Cherokee and she is a 'minority' or was it something she believed in that she no longer does?

Trump believes it to be true that he has been on the cover of Time magazine more than anyone else. 'But he hasnt, you cry! liar! ' He believes he was wiretapped by Obama. he believes Muslims cheered on 9/11, he believes Russia didnt hack the DNC. Lies, all Lies!

But if Warren believes something that also conveniently benefits her job searches and social justice standing, thats perfectly fine, right? If she becomes President someday will it be as the first 'minority woman'?

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

Since when is it the news when Trump sticks his foot in his mouth

7 ( +7 / -0 )

That is 75% of the things that you call lies from Trump. Things that he believes to be true.

That's why we don't just call him a liar, we call him a moron too! I guess by you breakdown, he is only lying 1/4 the time, and he's just stupid the other 3/4 of the time.

Trump believes it to be true that he has been on the cover of Time magazine more than anyone else. 'But he hasnt, you cry! liar! '

Not me. I wouldn't call that a lie, I'd just call him an idiot for making claims not based in reality, without bothering to fact check himself.

But if Warren believes something that also conveniently benefits her job searches and social justice standing, thats perfectly fine, right?

If she actually believes it, then it's a mistake. If she did it deliberately, it's a lie.

But you have never been able to show that she lied, despite the claims that you guys keep making.

But here's the kicker - until now, you truly believed she was lying, so calling her a liar was just incorrect. But now that you know she was under the belief that she was part native, if you keep calling her a liar, you in fact are now lying. The same thing you have been incorrectly whining about her doing.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Trump wouldn't refer to Warren as Pocahontas if she didn't have this ridiculous claim to be Native American.

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

Trump wouldn't refer to Warren as Pocahontas if she didn't have this ridiculous claim to be Native American.

So his bigotry is justified by another's supposed lies?

9 ( +10 / -1 )

He shouldn’t? Yeah, of course the left would hate that.

No, he promised he would, and has since been quiet about it. Most likely because it was BS.

He does, but you guys are so busy hating on the man, you guys miss the coverage.

Really? Enlighten us then. When did he reveal his tax returns like he promised? Trump University wasn't a scam to cheat his own fans?

Alleged and you think the government should control and interfere with the market again?

What market? There are only a handful of telecom providers, and each hold monopolies in their respective regions. Those provider's are going to interfere with what we view on the Internet. Those providers that also own their own media outlets... Getting rid of net neutrality benefits absolutely no one but those providers, and Trump appoints a former Verizon employee as head of the FCC...

But Warren incorrectly believing she had Native American heritage is what we should be focusing on, right? You're getting played, and it's hurting all of us.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Great photograph!

Sadly, the article mentions the P word no less than six times. Keep it focused on these brave guys, and maybe write a different one on the blond guy’s language and TPO?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Oh no, its been a lie the whole time. You are the one who is saying it isnt because she believed it to be true. Like all the other liberal things, 'if I believe it, its true!!!'

I say that is nonsense, facts are facts . She is NOT Native American and they have said she is ineligible to join any of their groups for people of their heritage. So I can ignore the rest of that liar/lying excuse word salad.

Bottom line, she lied. Now will she come clean or is it more advantageous to play the poor innocent victim while continuing to steal another's cultural experiences?

-16 ( +0 / -16 )

Oh, if only the left would heed their own words.

Oh, if only some people would remember what they wrote such a very short time ago.

Bass on Trump claiming he saw 'thousands of Muslims celebrating in New Jersey' on 9/11: Just because Trump personally saw it that way doesn't mean he was lying from his perspective, he could very believe what he heard and saw, if so, then he wasn't lying.

Fair enough, you prefer your prez to be a moron with a vivid imagination rather than an outright liar, that's your prerogative, nice of you to be so understanding of his ... shortcomings (=he doesn't understand things he sees with his own eyes). Let's hope he doesn't start imagining things when his finger is hovering over The Button.

Bass on Warren repeating what her parents and grandparents had told her about her heritage: She sure did (lie). Funny, when pressed on her lies about posing as a Native American She never answers .... She has No room to criticize the president on lies and deception, I would rip her one as well.

Trump is allowed to believe something he made up in his own head, but this lady is not allowed to honestly believe what her parents and grandparents told her about her own family?

How come she gets ripped one and he doesn't?

16 ( +16 / -0 )

no no we shall not report on record stock markets and unemployment  most respected economist state that the economy is hardly all the work of Trumps 1yr in office, he hasn't even implemented any policies to support the markets yet.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Trump is allowed to believe something he made up in his own head

Except that he isnt allowed. He isnt gently reminded that hey are you aware that others have been on the cover of Time more than you? He is immediately called out as being a deliberate liar with malicious self serving intentions.

But when Warren does the same exact thing, believing something made up in her head, she isnt a liar. Even if she is 1/32 Native Indian, why bring it up? Not like she lived that cultural experience or faced the obstacles that people of that culture faced. She has nothing positive to add to their life experience and isnt a role model for their future generations or anything. She only brought it up for personal gain, what can I get if I identify as a 'minority'?

Thats MY point. Bass can answer for himself for the rest.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

Bottom line, she lied. so then its perfectly fine for the POTUS to use a native American name in a derogative nature, one wrong negates another in Trumps eyes

6 ( +7 / -1 )

While DT is an idiot, Warren shouldn't have made the claim. She didn't foresee it will be used to discredit her and all her work.

Should be a lesson for everyone.

He is a walking cartoon dreaming Disneyland. Too childish to comment what kind of individual he is. But to be a president of US before Wonderland, with words of prejudice in real time, he is a very naughty kid.

Great picture of:

Two nationalistic racists (Jackson and Trump) and

Two national heroes (Navajo Indians).

Jackson is known for America's first biological warfare attacks when he distributed used blankets from small pox victims to Indians. Trump has no clue about history, but he identifies with Jackson, probably because he is on the $20 bill. Trump will never be on any money, unless bankruptcy dollars become real.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Things that he believes to be true. Trumps views have been proven to be wrong on many occasions, doesnt matter if its a lie or not its still false accusations and he should retract them. Instead he just sprouts more false statements like "fake news" thinking it will prove his errors are correct. professional con men are masters of deception, pity so many fools fall for his scams.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

But when Warren does the same exact thing, believing something made up in her head, she isnt a liar. Even if she is 1/32 Native Indian, why bring it up? Here is a joke, what do you get with 20 white men in a room, a full blooded Indian.

I've told that joke to my fellow Indians and get a good laugh. To say that your heritage is too distant to matter, which is the point of Trump's comments. I couldn't care about Warren's heritage. I don't believe it is made up.

Trump belittling her with this racist term is an offense to Indians. To say it in front of these heroes is . . . typical Trump.

Pocahontas was a real person not just a Disney Character.

Even non-americans know that, now Milan is an invention.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

To say that your heritage is too distant to matter, which is the point of Trump's comments. I couldn't care about Warren's heritage. I don't believe it is made up.

Yes, and 'fake' heritage is even more distant than that. Its not the distance, its the fact that she didnt even live or understand the life of that culture, yet claimed it anyway/

What do you guys cal Trump's claims that he cant prove? Lies, right? So why is Warren's claim that she cant prove (and seems to have no interest in trying to prove) NOT a lie? ahhh....partisan politics is your answer.

Thats enough for me, we can revisit this in 2020 if she still hasnt cleared this up by then.

-16 ( +0 / -16 )

I say that is nonsense, facts are facts . She is NOT Native American and they have said she is ineligible to join any of their groups for people of their heritage. So I can ignore the rest of that liar/lying excuse word salad.

What you call a 'word salad' is the dictionary definition of 'lie'. A lie requires intent. Without intent, there is no lie. You guys keep calling her a liar, even though she was under the impression that she actually was partially native. If she didn't know, then she isn't a lie, based on the definition of the word. Remember, words have meanings, and those meanings are not the ones you make up, but rather the actual accepted meaning of the word by the rest of the world.

And now that you know that, if you continue to call her a liar, you in fact are lying, as you are intentionally intending to deceive by spreading a falsehood you know to be incorrect.

Except that he isnt allowed.

You guys give him a pass on his lies all the time. Or in other words, you allow him to lie, without calling out his lies.

He isnt gently reminded that hey are you aware that others have been on the cover of Time more than you? He is immediately called out as being a deliberate liar with malicious self serving intentions.

No, he was called a liar because he stated that Time called him and told him he would be man of the year, even though that never happened. But, you're right in that he may not have been lying - he may just be a delusional old man who is remembering conversations that never actually happened.

I'm not sure which is worse though...

when Warren does the same exact thing, believing something made up in her head

It's not the same thing at all - this was something she was told by her parents. Not something she made up in her head. Trump on the other hand made up a phone call that never happened, with that thing he made up either being delusional, or an attempt at deception.

Trump wouldn't refer to Warren as Pocahontas if she didn't have this ridiculous claim to be Native American.

Or if he didn't have the mentality of a particularly immature playground bully.

What do you guys cal Trump's claims that he cant prove? Lies, right? So why is Warren's claim that she cant prove (and seems to have no interest in trying to prove) NOT a lie? ahhh....partisan politics is your answer.

Actually, Warren's claim can't be proven, even with DNA testing. On the other hand, many of Trump's claims have already been proven false, and sometimes he continues to repeat them anyway.

Thats enough for me, we can revisit this in 2020 if she still hasnt cleared this up by then.

If this is all you have, good luck.

Trump is allowed to believe something he made up in his own head

Except that he isnt allowed. He isnt gently reminded that hey are you aware that others have been on the cover of Time more than you? He is immediately called out as being a deliberate liar with malicious self serving intentions.

I never called him a liar. I think he's so far gone he actually believes everything he says. Or if he later finds out it was wrong his ego won't let him retract it.

But when Warren does the same exact thing, believing something made up in her head, she isnt a liar. Even if she is 1/32 Native Indian, why bring it up?

I think that's a question for Donald Trump. Perhaps the veterans he was supposed to be honouring were asking themselves the same question.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

What do you guys cal Trump's claims that he cant prove? Lies, right? Americas legal system will require a trial lawyer to retract comments if they have no proof or speculated, why should the POTUS be allowed to sprout accusations and speculation purely on his views without any proof to back them.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Except that he isnt allowed.

He is by bass.

Even if she is 1/32 Native Indian, why bring it up?

If she thinks it's something to be proud of, why not? I understand there is a group in the US that calls itself the Society of Mayflower Descendants. I wonder why they think an ancestor from 400 years ago is important enough for them to organise themselves into a society to celebrate it? The link is surely much less than 1/32 by now. In the UK we have people who like to brag their ancestors came over with William the Conqueror a thousand years ago. Same thing.

Harmless and meaningless.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Those two veterans should've just walked out when he said that, sadly shaking their heads. This crass clown is a disgrace to the Office of the President and to the USA as a whole.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

"It is deeply unfortunate that the president of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony . . . without having to throw out a racial slur,"

--- Elizabeth Warren. -- article

Someone should tell the senator that she needs to re-check her official racial slur dictionary. Pocahontas was an actual a person.

So, the question now becomes what is truly more offensive? President Trump making a joke involving a real life American Indian, or spending almost a decade living a lie by pretending to be an American Indian like she has done so she could benefit from an Affirmative Action program designed to help real American Indians?

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

Who cares about what Elizabeth Warren says about her heritage or background, the issue here is why would Trump say that in front of Native American veterans?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Trump's parents did an atrocious job of raising this oaf. He has no idea how to behave in any situation.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

It's quite intellectually dishonest to say that Trump's easily disproved utterances are equivalent to Warren's honest mistake. Warren would have had to have doubted her parents and grandparents and then done geneological research or a DNA test. Trump only needs to ask Professor Google.

I say that is nonsense, facts are facts .

Exactly. It's a fact there were not thousands of Muslims celebrating in NJ on 9/11. It's a fact that Trump hasn't had the most covers on Time magazine. It's a fact that Trump's inauguration crowd was dwarfed by Obama's.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Someone should tell the senator that she needs to re-check her official racial slur dictionary. Pocahontas was an actual a person.

Guess I need to repeat myself once again:

He's referring to someone by their shared ethnicity with a well known native female, in a pejorative manner. You are trying to say that using ethnicity in a pejorative manner is not racist.

No matter how much you guys want to pretend that the above is not the case, the rest of us are not going to stop pointing out how the president is a racist, simply because you guys want to pretend that what he said isn't.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

that also conveniently benefits her job searches...

Then it's a crime if she documented it in her official job application process. Trump should investigate this as a crime and refer the case to the FBI as it sounds serious. Otherwise it just sounds like simply hate. I can't believe Trump followers are not demanding Warren be investigating for falsifying documents by Trump. If Warren gets away with such a serious crime it's all on Trump.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Trump wouldn't refer to Warren as Pocahontas if she didn't have this ridiculous claim to be Native American.

Sure, but this isn't THE point. No one really cares about Warren's feelings or DT deriding her tbh. Issue is Trump's also, perhaps indirectly, mocking or at the very least patronizing native American culture.

When you compare a small fat bloke you don't like to Pancho Villa or Ned Kelly chances are you also don't particularly like nor respect Mexican or oz culture. Would DT compare his beloved Ivanka to Pocahontas or any other native American woman? Probably not.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

So, the question now becomes what is truly more offensive? President Trump making a joke involving a real life American Indian, or spending almost a decade living a lie by pretending to be an American Indian like she has done so she could benefit from an Affirmative Action program designed to help real American Indians?

What's really offensive is that in modern America, there is still perceived to be a need to 'help' people based on their DNA. It's an admittance that equity is a myth.

The melting-pot sees to be more like a stew with big, unchewable gristly lumps in it.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I'd love to know what the two veterans are thinking about all this.

How it came from their great heritage and ownership of the land, to that land being taken and the conquerors ultimately coming apart at the seams.

No, saying racist stuff is what makes him racist

Pocahontas is not a racist word, if so, show it. Provide something to back it up. While you’re looking, I’ll grab a bowl of cereal.

*a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentionaluntruth; a falsehood. *

You perfectly summed up Warren. Kudos!

Sorry, you can try to escape that fact all you want, but it was racist, and therefore we can just keep going back there.

Then calling the president a moron or an orange hyphenated something can be read as racist as well. The president has legal cause for a lot of lawsuits. Liberals, prepare yourselves!

bass4funkToday  02:13 pm JST

The president has legal cause for a lot of lawsuits.

i doubt if he has enough money, though.

Liberals, prepare yourselves!

I bet they're all really scared. Trump talks a big fight when it comes to lawsuits, his record of actually going through with them and winning is a bit less impressive.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

i doubt if he has enough money, though.

No, he has a lot and a man like Trump isn’t stupid with money, he’s got a ton of investments, so he’ll be just fine.

I bet they're all really scared.

They don’t need to be.

Trump talks a big fight when it comes to lawsuits, his record of actually going through with them and winning is a bit less impressive.

Depends on which case, he’s won others. Go Trump!

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

The TDS afflicted corporate media are hilarious.

So true. This article is proof that they continue producing fake news like stating over and over that President Trump, who jokingly referred to a real life American to call out Warren who is a fake American Indian, is racist.

Heh, the alt-left media meltdown continues. . . .

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

Pocahontas is not a racist word, if so, show it. Provide something to back it up. While you’re looking, I’ll grab a bowl of cereal.

Its pretty clear that its a random native-sounding name that popped into Trump's head which he decided to apply to her out of spite.

If a Japanese person insisted on calling me "Johnny" because its the only English name he knows and does so to demean me, I'd say that was pretty racist. Also pretty pretty damn ignorant if he pulled it out of his hat while speaking to some English WW2 vets.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Trump says there is a 'Pocahontas' in the U.S. Congress

I say there's an idiot in the White House.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Pocahontas is not a racist word, if so, show it. Provide something to back it up.

It's like referring to anyone that's Russian as "Ivan" or Irish as "Mick." It can be seen as playful among friends, but it's derogatory when the person saying it is not a friend. As usual context matters, and as usual, you don't know how to read it.

While you’re looking, I’ll grab a bowl of cereal.

Still waiting on you showing me how Trump cleared his name regarding tax returns and Trump U.

Then calling the president a moron or an orange hyphenated something can be read as racist as well.

No... No, it can't. For instance, IF I called you a moron, that would be mean, but not racist. Because moron and orange buffoon (hyphenated?) aren't races. (Mods: I said "if." I didn't actually call him a moron...)

11 ( +11 / -0 )

calling the president a moron or an orange hyphenated something can be read as racist as well.

No it can't - got nothing to do wth his race, heritage, DNA, ethnicity or any other thing folks are born with and have no say in.

He gets called a moron because he acts and talks like a moron. Nothing to do with his race.

He gets called a 'orange hyphenated something' because for some inexplicable reason he chooses to paint himself that colour. With all the money he has, if he wanted to look good he could look like an Adonis. Instead he paints himself orange and plants a dissected hamster on top of his head. Nothing to do with his race.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

"Racial slur", LOL! So what race does Warren belong to? Has she ever clarified that?

Seems I need to repeat myself once again:

Whether that's true or not, doesn't change the fact that he is being a bigot in his methods of calling her out. It's entirely unacceptable.

Next:

Pocahontas is not a racist word, if so, show it.

Seems I need to repeat myself once again:

He's referring to someone by their shared ethnicity with a well known native female, in a pejorative manner. You are trying to say that using ethnicity in a pejorative manner is not racist. At the very least, it's pretty pathetic for the leader of a first-world nation.

Next:

Then calling the president a moron or an orange hyphenated something can be read as racist as well.

Nope, as these are not referring to race or ethnicity.

This article is proof that they continue producing fake news

Ahh, another poster that is trying to define fake news as news they don't like. You people don't seem to realize that you can attempt to change the meanings of words, but we are not going to accept your fake meanings.

President Trump, who jokingly referred to a real life American to call out Warren who is a fake American Indian, is racist.

Yep, he sure is.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Pocahontas is not a racist word, if so, show it.

I have multiple sources that show it's racist, but you won't believe them, so I won't bother. Just like you have sources that show Time has deliberately published falsehoods but won't share them.

The president has legal cause for a lot of lawsuits.

Are you a lawyer now?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

In almost all cases, 'fake news' simply means 'news'. Everyone with a brain automatically filters out the prefix.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Pocahontas is not a racist word

Wow. It's only a matter of time before Trump is caught out using the "n-word" and posters here will be saying that it's not a racist slur.

That's the America they want to get back to. The "great" America where being openly racist was not only commonplace but acceptable.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

So true. This article is proof that they continue producing fake news like stating over and over that President Trump, who jokingly referred to a real life American to call out Warren who is a fake American Indian, is racist.

Trump's racism is well documented. It's been linked here many, many times. It's there for the whole world to see in various speeches and television clips.

When the far right repeatedly claims it's all fake news, one wonders if they fancy themselves as latter day Jedi, trying out mind tricks. More like rubbish Sith. Or useless Stormtroopers with terrible aim.

So still no one cares that someone is using the heritage of another racial group and all the suffering they have been through to enhance themselves socially and financially.

I guess liberals are too far gone with this “self identification” stuff to care. Just identify as whichever race/gender that gets you what you want for that day.

Depends on whether she continued to make the claim after finding out the truth. If she did, then it's a major problem. I've never seen any instances of her making the claim after finding out the truth though, so I don't have a problem with her having made a mistake based on something she was told since childhood. I see a much, much bigger problem with a racist president though. Seems you want to use whataboutism to get away from that point though.

No one is trying to get special treatment, benefits or social sympathy by claiming Pilgrim or Viking heritage, nice try though.

Why would they? Were Pilgrims and Vikings historically disadvantaged in America?

You people have a real difficult time staying on point. The movie in question was "Pocohantas." Nobody said Disney has never made a racist movie. Stop obfuscating.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

So what is the “context” of a “white person” who led a “white privileged” life suddenly claiming minority status in middle age? All I see is that it was in order to get benefits, preference and social victim status. What an I missing as the purpose “in context”?

I thought liberals were against all that to the point a white person cant even wear a Native American Halloween costume anymore?

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Trump hatred by liberals so crazy that you are now against freedom of speech, for illegal immigration, against innocent until proven guilty and for cultural appropriation. Total shifts in your values.

According to your clearly distorted thinking. When did freedom of speech come into this? When did criminal burdens of proof enter this?

Keep digging.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

So now even changing your mind that is within your right to do is “lying”. But claiming to be Native Anerican for personal and professional gain isn’t lying at all?

How about this, I am sorry I genuinely believed that I was done posting in this topic but I wasn’t. Now I haven’t “lied”.

Criminal proof and freedom of speech are things liberals gave up prior to today just to take an anti-Trump position. Now you giving up cultural appropriation too with this.

Ok now I am really done, there is nothing more I am able to add to any of this nonsense.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

No one is trying to get special treatment, benefits or social sympathy by claiming Pilgrim or Viking heritage, nice try though.

Viking? Who mentioned Viking heritage?

I think you mean Norman heritage.

In my experience, the people who brag about being on the Mayflower/at the Battle of Hastings etc., do so as a mark of superiority / exalted rank. It's only in their own minds of course, but yeah, they do expect there to be some kind of 'special treatment' attached to it, if it's only their audience breathing, Wow, get you.

Didn’t denounce it so must still be falsely claiming it

You want her to stand up and proclaim publicly that her parents and grandparents told her untruths? What would that do to family values, apple pie and the flag?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Trump used the word Pocahontas before the two Indian-American and if they are not offended, it is not a racial slur isn't it.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

So what is the “context” of a “white person” who led a “white privileged” life suddenly claiming minority status in middle age?

Simple. It's mostly years-old BS from the right to discredit Warren.

https://www.snopes.com/politics/politicians/warren.asp

Why were they trying to discredit her from years ago? She actually goes after corrupt corporate and financial practices, and that scares them.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

The "actual point of this" is simply that Trump hijacked what should have been a solemn commemoration for the sacrifices many Native Americans have made with a crass and self-serving joke.

If I were for some reason being honored and the host, noticing I am white, launched a joke regarding some gaijin talent in Japan, I'd walk straight out. Anyone with a shred of dignity would - unless their forbearance is that much greater. Praise to those who were able to brush off this insult, and shame to the man who delivered it.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

So now even changing your mind that is within your right to do is “lying”.

Nowhere in the constitution is there a right to change your mind, which means it's not a right.

But claiming to be Native Anerican for personal and professional gain isn’t lying at all?

An honest mistake is not a lie. Saying you'll do X and then doing Y, when you have a history of doing so, is a lie.

Criminal proof and freedom of speech are things liberals gave up prior to today just to take an anti-Trump position. Now you giving up cultural appropriation too with this.

According to your over-simplified worldview.

Ok now I am really done

Looking at this thread, I would say that applies to those afflicted with TDS. I hesitate to call them "liberals" because what current "liberals" have come to stand for is everything but liberal.

This is hilarious:

given this:

So Warren is not an actual person? And she did not actually make this ridiculous claim that Trump is referring to with a wink?

which is in response to this:

You people have a real difficult time staying on point. The movie in question was "Pocohantas." Nobody said Disney has never made a racist movie. Stop obfuscating.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

ill say it again, conservative's obfuscate.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Wow. It's only a matter of time before Trump is caught out using the "n-word" and posters here will be saying that it's not a racist slur.

The Democrats don’t need to use racial epithets, it’s in their actions, go to the South side of Chicago, Baltimore, LA, Philly or Miami What the libs done to these communities is the equivalent of the word.

That's the America they want to get back to.

The Dixiecrat Democrats? No one wants to go back to those days of Jim Crow. Imagine if we never had Lincoln, I could only imagine what the country would be like today.

The "great" America where being openly racist was not only commonplace but acceptable.

And that’s the reason I try and stay out of California, racism is off the charts. The ONLY place where you have some sort of normality is Orange County.

What an absolute racist moron!

How?

And yet, no doubt the GOP and supporters of such bigotry are already panicking and saying how there is nothing wrong with what he said, or how it was "tongue in cheek", or some other such rubbish to keep on supporting this bigot.

Pocahontas is not a racist word, now I suppose if you want you can make ANY a racist slur....sort of....

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

Pocahontas is not a racist word, now I suppose if you want you can make ANY a racist slur....sort of....

it is, depending on the context. You've been schooled in this previously. It's not our fault you lack the capacity to learn,

7 ( +7 / -0 )

What does Chicago have to do with this? That's correct, nothing. Another example of conservative deflection.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Ahh, another poster that is trying to define fake news as news they don't like. You people don't seem to realize that you can attempt to change the meanings of words, but we are not going to accept your fake meanings

Wow! I know you just didn’t say that with a straight face!

What does Chicago have to do with this? That's correct, nothing. Another example of conservative deflection.

No, it has to do with everything, the Democrats call themselves the non-racist Party, th Party of tolerance and they are anywhere near that, not even close. They need to watch what they say or a bone or two might pop out of their mouths.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

So Warren is not an actual person? And she did not actually make this ridiculous claim that Trump is referring to with a wink?

Yes, WilliB, both Pocahontas and Warren are actual people. However, Warren has never claimed to be Pocahontas. That is simply a schoolyard insult Trump repeatedly hurls which most Native Americans find rather offensive, particularly when it's dragged out of nowhere during a commemoration ceremony for veterans. Any questions?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

So Warren is not an actual person? And she did not actually make this ridiculous claim that Trump is referring to with a wink?

Weird logic there.

Yes, Warren is an actual person, and her name is not Pocahontas. She also did not fill out forms under the name of Pocahontas, whatever your take on her claiming Native American heritage.

Calling somebody by a name that represents in this context a stereotyped image of Native American ancestry is not only incredibly childish and petty, but also deliberately demeaning of an entire ethnic group. Trump sees minority ethnic groups in simplistic stereotyped cartoon images: Mexicans are rapists and eat taco bowls, blacks have no respect for law and the flag, Native Americans wear animal skins and bird feathers and the women look like Pocahontas. Back in 1993 Trump testified before the House that he doubted whether the Native American casino operators he met were really Native Americans because "they don't look like Indians to me".

And besides, why in the world is Trump hung up on Elizabeth Warren's claim to Native American heritage? If he has a policy beef with her, talk policy. Answer: Trump cannot talk policy because he doesn't have a clue about it.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Yes, WilliB, both Pocahontas and Warren are actual people. However, Warren has never claimed to be Pocahontas.

Of course she did, the woman when asked never talks about it, won’t take questions, dodges and deflects. Look, I could care less how liberals try and spin this one. If she is innocent as she claims, why not stand your ground and prove the allegations wrong? She won't, the Democrats can’t. Again, the woman is a joke and good on the president for calling her out.

That is simply a schoolyard insult Trump repeatedly hurls which most Native Americans find rather offensive, particularly when it's dragged out of nowhere during a commemoration ceremony for veterans. Any questions?

But they don’t have to feel anything, the insults were directed at a White Democratic woman. If anything, they should be offended by Warren.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Trump cannot talk policy because he doesn't have a clue about it.

And neither do his supporters, which is painfully obvious.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Of course she did, the woman when asked never talks about it, won’t take questions, dodges and deflects.

Prove that Warren claimed to be Pocohantas. You cannot because she never did. Just like you have no evidence that Time constantly publishes false stories. Your weak sauce arguments are predictable and trite, the hallmark of a "journalist."

Breaking news: Trump out of the blue refers to Britain's Prince Harry's fiance, Ms. Markle, as "Aunt Jemima," can't understand why everyone does not find it hilarious.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Laguna’s breaking news sequel.

Sanders will explain that it’s not a slur because Aunt Jemima could have been a real person and everybody loves pancakes, right?

7 ( +7 / -0 )

That is simply a schoolyard insult Trump repeatedly hurls which most Native Americans find rather offensive, particularly when it's dragged out of nowhere during a commemoration ceremony for veterans. Any questions?

But they don’t have to feel anything

How about this for an idea. Trump should stop throwing around idiotic and offensive trash, grow up and start acting like a responsible adult with a very important job.

It would save a lot of trouble. The type of people who roll over on the floor laughing at this can buy whoopee cushions and the people who like making demented whooping noises can run after fire engines while imitating the siren.

Sounds like a good solution to me.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Trump mouth, meet foot - why even do this when honoring Native Americans - you're putting them in an awkward position when it's their day

Plus, nobody in Congress calls her Pocahontas - you call her Pocahontas - don't hide behind the nebulous term "they" - own up to your own attempted humor at least

7 ( +7 / -0 )

How about this for an idea. Trump should stop throwing around idiotic and offensive trash, grow up and start acting like a responsible adult with a very important job.

I think he’s acting just fine, I think if anyone should act like an adult it’s the media, just for once it wouldn’t hurt them to do their job instead of just going around spewing hate day in and day out, people realize it and the people are shutting out the media and who could blame them?

It would save a lot of trouble.

It would if he were a sheep, but the best thing about Trump, he pushes back as hard as they push him, so the media is just wasting their time trying to shoot at him, because it usually almost always vindicates him. So good on Trump for not taking it.

The type of people who roll over on the floor laughing at this can buy whoopee cushions and the people who like making demented whooping noises can run after fire engines while imitating the siren.

What? Anyway, good on Trump.

BTW, my father was not Native American, but he was a Marine who served during WWII on Guadalcanal (and other places). He told us many stories of his time in the Pacific, including about the Navajo Code Talkers that he worked with. He always spoke highly of their fine characters, high levels of skills and competence, and loyalty, even to the country that did not have a record of treating them well. I’ve akways been grateful for having been raised by a father who didn’t have a bigoted bone in his body. He was always happy whenever there was news of the Code Talkers getting recognition. I think he would have been appalled at Trump’s behaviour.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Attention Trump cultists (and it's a cult)

Families of Navajo war veterans who were honored Monday at the White House say they were dumbfounded that President Donald Trump used the event to take a political jab at a Massachusetts senator, demeaning their work with an unbreakable code that helped the U.S. win World War II.

(news source)

Yes, Trump and his Cult are racists. Proof here. Next The Trump cult is going to call these families Liberals. Trump followers: Aren't they Liberals? Because they said something negative about Trump. Sound off! Let's hear you call these folks Liberals. We are standing by and waiting.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

All jokes aside, if it were me, maybe I would have used a different venue to call out Warren’s lies, but I guess he thought that was the perfect moment. I got a chuckle, but Warren brought in on herself, no one told her to be nasty or pick a fight with the President because it usually doesn’t end well for the attacker.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

It would if he were a sheep, but the best thing about Trump, he pushes back as hard as they push him

Who pushed him here? It was a piece of rancid trash, offensive to some Native Americans, thrown out with zero provocation when talking to Native Americans who were being honoured. This wasn't in the heat of battle in a trash war with the media. These men aren't battle-hardened trash combatants. They are real combatants who didn't dodge the draft.

Why can't you just say it was at the very least inappropriate?

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Who pushed him here? It was a piece of rancid trash, offensive to some Native Americans,

So then your argument should be with Warren, then we both agree, the woman is a disgrace.

thrown out with zero provocation when talking to Native Americans who were being honoured.

How do you know that, the word or rather the name is not offensive, so if you called a Black person Washington, that’s considered racist? I don’t know about you guys in Europe, but in the States, the left and their tactic of using the race card is so overplayed, it’s ridiculously pathetic.

This wasn't in the heat of battle in a trash war with the media. These men aren't battle-hardened trash combatants. They are real combatants who didn't dodge the draft.

Draft dodging has nothing to do with it, but nice try. If you bring that up, then be consistent, that would apply to both sides of the political spectrum.

Why can't you just say it was at the very least inappropriate.

Because I don’t agree with you, i thought it was on point. That’s my position.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

maybe I would have used a different venue

No, Trump and his followers are racist. Not only this but how he hates Mexicans and accused Obama of being born in Kenya:

"It was uncalled for," said Marty Thompson, whose great uncle was a Navajo Code Talker. "He can say what he wants when he's out doing his presidential business among his people, but when it comes to honoring veterans or any kind of people, he needs to grow up and quit saying things like that."

8 ( +9 / -1 )

To quote Dan Rather quoting Winston Churchill recently:

Trump is a bull who carries his own china shop around with him.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

he needs to grow up

(Marty Thompson, whose great uncle was a Navajo Code Talker)

I'm waiting for the first Trump follower here to accuse Marty Thompson of being a Liberal. He just called Trump a little child and Trump followers are going to take this quietly?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I think if anyone should act like an adult it’s the media, just for once it wouldn’t hurt them to do their job instead of just going around spewing hate day in and day out

The media is doing its job, which is to report facts. Just because the facts show your man to be a dotard and that hurts your feelings, it doesn't mean they aren't facts.

There's only one person that can stop the media from reporting these facts: Trump. If he cared to act like an adult that occupies a very serious position and not like an immature bully, the media wouldn't have so much to report.

So what about...

bass4funkToday  08:53 am JST

"At an event to honor Native Americans? Just inappropriate. Period."

*I thought** it was a perfect moment. Period....and I would have continued on the point....*

No backtracking at all there, then?

I wonder how any of these posters would feel if they were the person edged out of a professorship at Harvard by someone who claimed to be of Native American heritage with virtually no proof....

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Yes, sir.

Then surely you know all about Churchill and his anti-semitism, anti-Hindu, anti-Irish, anti-unions, anti-Kurd, anti-Islamic stance? I would have though any thorough journalist would be up on that.

What is up with the left and race? OCD perhaps?

Perhaps. What is it with the far right and ignoring racism? Too close to the bone?

I’m from the opinion he rocks.

With you there. He's like an avalanche of bad news. He's destroying your country and its reputation.

But you seem fine with that. Moscow paying well, these days?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

edged out of a professorship at Harvard

Did this really happen? She wrote American native on her tenured app and by magic she became a full professor? Maybe I can do the same. How convenient.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I wonder how any of these posters would feel if they were the person edged out of a professorship at Harvard by someone who claimed to be of Native American heritage with virtually no proof....

I feel it's unlikely that Harvard straw, er, professors would waste their time commenting on this mess.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

your argument should be with Warren,

So you're saying that Warren pushed Trump to say bring up Pocahontas during an event to honor Navajo war heroes?

I thought Republicans claimed to be the party of personal responsibility. You said yourself that

maybe I would have used a different venue to call out Warren’s lies,

Absolutely. Your man blew it. Because he's an idiot with no self control. But don't let that get in the way of

He acts like an adult, but more importantly, he stomps on the media,

So stomping on the media is adult behavior? Or does stomping on the media supersede adult behavior?

Love it and love how he rocks the Washington establishment! Go Trump!

Very groovy, baby. I suppose you loved the guy in your class who talked trash to your teachers and shoved smaller kids into the locker. Radical!

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I found it humorful

I found it disgustful.

He acts like an adult, but more importantly, he stomps on the media...

But that sounds a bit pointless, doesn't it? Who was it that was saying no one could stop the media doing what they pleased?

No, no one can stop the media of anything, not even Trump.

Oh, that's right. You. In the very same comment.

but her weekly diatribe attacks was probably in the back of his mind

Why?

Exactly! Trump can’t stop the media and they can’t stop him! Kudos

Pumpkin pie time!

The Alliance of Colonial Era Tribes on just remarked on Twitter:

President Trump decided to deviate from the focus of the event to take a swipe at a political opponent. American Indian names, whether they be historic or contemporary, are not meant to be used as insults. To do so is to reduce them to racial slurs.

But then again, what do they know about such affairs? I think I'll start calling Trump "Sven" and ask him how he'd like his reindeer prepared. There is ample background for that.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Some bits from Russell Begaye, who is president of the Navajo Nation:

"all tribal nations still battle insensitive references to our people."

"The prejudice that Native American people face is an unfortunate historical legacy.”

“As Native Americans, we are proud people who have taken care of this land long before there was the United States of America and we will continue to fight for this Nation."

And The National Congress of American Indians, the largest and oldest group that represents Native Americans has condemned Trump's use of "Pocahontas" to deride Warren.

The Alliance of Colonial Era Tribes on just remarked on Twitter

Now all of a sudden we have to pay attention to Twitter? Gosh you guys are all over the place.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Now all of a sudden we have to pay attention to Twitter?

Yes, it works for Trump towards his followers

3 ( +3 / -0 )

It's the oldest trick in the book, denigrate, demonise and dismiss those who have been wronged

So then maybe the left should stop doing that, they can change, I do have faith and hope.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

No, they're they're all too busy arguing about who is worse, someone making a racist joke or someone claiming to be Native American to get a job without actually confirming it. Fun fact: They both suck.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

And I guess Andrew Jackson is “bad” now too?

I understand that both Andrew Jackson and Donald Trump had mothers who were brought up as strict presbyterians. I also note that one of the native Americans has the name McDonald. Is it horrors or wonders that Scotland has brought on the world? Should we stay in more?

Seems like our independent Republican radicals are in some sort of competition as to see who can get the most down votes.

Poor old bass, you other guys are ruining his Punch and Judy villain show....

5 ( +5 / -0 )

he predicted a trump win very early on (and was predictably lambasted for it).

He was wrongly lambasted for it - he's not a Trump supporter, and didn't even vote for Trump. He's just an analyst of humanity, and made an accurate, objective prediction based on Trump's mannerisms and methods. In an interview, I saw him state he doesn't even like Trump.

It's clear that the conservative posters here are intimidated by intelligence. That is why they slobber over Trump's ignorant antics and rail against extremely intelligent and eloquent individuals such as Obama and Warren.
