The people who did 9/11 came from Saudi Arabia. How many of you Trumpers are complaining to Trump about his love fest with the Saudis?

Twitter needs to ban Trump now. Plain and simple, this is racist incitement designed to stir up Trump's white nationalist base.

25 ( +26 / -1 )

U.S. President Donald Trump did not wish any harm in his Twitter post criticizing Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar's comments on the 9/11 attacks, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said on Sunday.

If anything happens to Omar, we know where to look.

17 ( +20 / -3 )

An awful woman.

-24 ( +6 / -30 )

Where’s the link to the video?

How can anyone comment on what has or hasn’t been said without watching the video

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The same way Dems can try to slam Trump’s response without having any comment at all about the horrible original comments from Omar.

-21 ( +4 / -25 )

This is what Ilhan Omar said:

*"Here's the truth. For far too long we have lived with the discomfort of being a second-class citizen and, frankly, I'm tired of it, and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it. Cair was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties."*

Here’s a question for you. Which American politician publicly referred to the terrorists who carried out the 9/11 attacks as “those folks who committed this act,” seemingly downplaying its horrors? Was it Minnesota representative Ilhan Omar? No. Try George W Bush. Here’s another one. Which American politician publicly called Benjamin Netanyahu “your prime minister” while addressing a crowd of Jewish American supporters. Since the statement assumes Jewish Americans carry a dual loyalty to both Israel and the United States, you might assume it was Ilhan Omar, based on all we’ve been told about her. In fact, it was Donald Trump.

Trump is inciting violence against Omar, and all Muslims.

His fanbase lap it up because Omar is the perfect target, a strong Muslim woman of color.

22 ( +25 / -3 )

She lied.

-21 ( +2 / -23 )

No, Omar’s own hateful words are inciting people. Nothing about her gender or religion at all until she and her supporters try to say that’s why people are oppressing her or whatever.

you can’t say hateful things then hide behind gender or religion when you are called out for your hate filled rhetoric.

-20 ( +5 / -25 )

Now, in addition to labelling anyone who disagrees with them as Nazis and White Supremacists, the left is smothering criticism by calling it 'inciting violence.'

-21 ( +3 / -24 )

And one more example of what we reap when we elect a serial liar, con-man, and someone with the understanding of a fifth grader.

I'm not sure Trump is smart enough to even understand he is endangering Rep Omar's life with these dangerous tweets.

But it's a fact - his white supremacist, immigrant-hating base just cheer him on.

Whatever Putin has on him must be a bombshell, because he keeps on doing Putin's bidding to divide and split America...

13 ( +16 / -3 )

Trump is wishing no ill will? Hollow words from the leader of an authoritarian regime that came to power fanning the racism so prevalent in his unjust country.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Nice pivot away from their religious group (omar’s) to their country of residence at the time. But nope.

“The September 11 attacks (also referred to as 9/11)[a] were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda”

so why would she say some people did something when it’s very clear who did it and what they did?

-15 ( +3 / -18 )

Nice pivot away from their religious group (omar’s) to their country of residence at the time. But nope.

Cowardly attacks on Muslims, blaming Omar for September 11th, demanding she should show contrition?

That's hate speech.

so why would she say some people did something when it’s very clear who did it and what they did?

Yes, why won't you specify that the Saudis were behind it? Anything to do with your traitor in chief having a love in with, and supplying weapons tech to the terrorist regime?

Why won't you condemn the death threats against her and the wider Muslim communities in America?

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Then said, but my focus isnt on this, just on how my group is being mistreated because of that attack? That’s what Omar is saying.

And you're conflating all Muslims with terror.

September 11th was an horrific attack, there's no doubt about it. But it doesn't justify the nearly 2 decades of hatred towards Muslims in the US and abroad.

That day, after years of exporting terrorism to other countries - the Contras in Nicaragua, the overthrow of the Allende government (September 11th, 1973) in Chile, the suppport for Noraid in Ireland - the US finally understood the meaning of terror.

And instead of showing solidarity, it squandered its chance to promote peace and instead embarked on illegal wars and the road to fascism.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Liberals and your “condemn this and disavow that”. I don’t play that gotcha game.

Did Omar condemn the 9/11 attacks? Where is her disavowal of the guy who threw a kid over a railing for. 3 stories high at a mall in the state she represents?

Say hateful and inciting things, people hold you accountable. That’s how it goes. This is a member of the United States Congress.

-13 ( +3 / -16 )

Liberals and your “condemn this and disavow that”. I don’t play that gotcha game.

You'd have to ask a liberal. But the far right are playing a game and that's the problem with facist America today. They think it's about games and teams and winning.

Meanwhile, peoples lives are at stake.

Say hateful and inciting things, people hold you accountable. That’s how it goes. This is a member of the United States Congress.

She hasn't said anything hateful about September 11th.

No more so than George W when he said “The people — and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!”

6 ( +10 / -4 )

I think you guys are overreacting a bit. The point of her statement was that not all Muslims are terrorists. It's pretty simple, but I guess if you are brain dead, fed through a tube connected to FOX news, you might not be able to analyze a simple statement. I don't understand why you are so uncomfortable with Muslims. It's very strange to me. Especially when the majority of terror in the US is done by Caucasians.

13 ( +15 / -2 )

“The September 11 attacks (also referred to as 9/11)[a] were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda”

and those same terrorists were from Saudi but nothing happened against them instead America went on a rage in Iraq and Afghanistan killing nearly one million muslims. According tp Bush was God's work.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Wow... I thought it was supposed to be the left that are perpetually offended.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

I have always protested the US presence in Syria

Kudos

Twitter needs to ban Trump now.

I don't think Twitter needs to ban President Trump. The news media needs to stop "re-broadcasting" every single tweet he posts. I don't subscribe to Twitter, yet I see all of his tweets because they're considered "news worthy" and published by (it seems) every newspaper, TV channel, radio station, etc. Also, I would think, Twitter users who don't want to read posts from a fellow Twitterite should be able to block his\her messages.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I agree that there's no necessity to ban Trump on Twitter. However, he is the most powerful person on the planet, or so we're told, so his tweets are genuinely newsworthy. Besides, they give us the most honest and unfiltered access we're going to get to the inner workings of his character and his mind.

It's not a pretty picture, but it's the best way to fight him, once you know what he's really thinking.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The point of her statement was that not all Muslims are terrorists.

That’s about it. Even Bush 2 was speaking in similar terms after 9/11. I can remember some right leaning commentators criticizing Bush for not speaking honestly about the problem of Islamic extremism. Obama and Hillary Clinton received the same criticism after his reaction to the attack on the gay nightclub.

Trump’s approach included lying about seeing Muslims celebrating the attack in the US.

Some have claimed that many politicians and commentators have been deliberately evasive on the issue of Islamic terrorism, but it’s pretty clear to me that the approach of Bush, Obama and Clinton were preferable to Trump’s lies whatever your views on how best to approach this issue.

Trump has proven he is not honest enough to approach this issue. He is yet again in tabloid trash mode.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

so why would she say some people did something

its pretty obvious she stating "some" as in minority "people" referring to the terrorist. so anybody with half a brain can clearly understand she's stating that a minority of bad Saudi terrorist killed 1000s on 911 and now all muslims are targeted because of this. Trump just proved her point by attacking her directly inciting hatred and death threat from his followers

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Which country is the biggest ‘terror maker’ in the world’ ?

Surely, that is more relevant than the comments of Ilhan Omar?

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar, is a competent and skilled civil rights activist, intelligent, graduated from North Dakota State University with bachelor's degrees in political science and international studies.

Without doubt a solid grounding in political organisation and campaigning strategy.

So Ilhan Omar choice of words, irrespective of there context, the characterisation of such a heinous atrocity instigates and incites the behaviours and criticisms that Ilhan Omar and Senior Democrats should be at pains to avoid.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

I love watching passionate speeches by this lady. Just turn the sound down, flip on any rap song and enjoy the rap video. She moves her hands around just like a rapper when she gets excited.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

So Ilhan Omar choice of words, irrespective of there context, the characterisation of such a heinous atrocity instigates and incites the behaviours and criticisms that Ilhan Omar and Senior Democrats should be at pains to avoid.

As I posted earlier, Obama and Hillary Clinton were criticized for strenuously avoiding using any reference to the ideology behind the attack on the gay nightclub. One commentator described it as the Voldemort effect - he who cannot be named.

I’m critical of those who sidestep this issue, but the partisanship is clear in this attack on Omar. She used the same kind of language Bush 2 used. I don’t think a Muslim should be expected to play by different rules when discussing this issue.

The discussion should focus on what is the best way to approach this issue.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Blacklabel: "Say hateful and inciting things, people hold you accountable. That’s how it goes."

Unless it's Trump; then you guys bend over backwards to say it's perfectly fine and is the other person's fault -- in this case, bringing on threats of death.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Readers, please cut out the acrimony. Posting hostile language is unhealthy debate and unproductive. Better for you all to look for constructive ways to address U.S. political issues.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, are sound operators across a multi faceted political spectrum.

George W. Bush "I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully," …..Says it all.

I have allot of admiration for these next generation Democrats. Omar, Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib etc. I won't pretend or profess to be on the same page politically.

All these young Democrats should be able to hone there message away from student hyperbole.

For the purpose of political expediency, for effective phasing, idiom, the message needs to focus on unification between groups and communities that suffered resentment manifested from historic religious animosity

The need to be aware how rhetoric contributes as an incitement for instigating the very divisions that lead to intolerance.

Of course the same could be levelled at President Trump and his use of twitter.

Ilhan Omar could learn from this. Think before you twitter

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

For the last time, Congressperson Omar did NOT downplay 9/11. What she was saying is that it is a pity that the actions of a few people can affect a great majority.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

And Congresswoman Omar has never used anti-Semitic speech.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

The sad thing is is that Omar passed up a golden opportunity to publicly separate Islam from the terroists. She could have clearly said terrorists who have hijacked islam are the ones who hijacked the planes and that they do not represent Islam. Imagine if she would have done that? She could have taken a real step forward to helping unify the American citizenry. Instead she failed.

Clearly, she does not feel about 9/11 the way Americans do. She also must not think of the 19 hijackers as terrorist. I would have clearly distanced myself and religion from those people by clearly and definitively identifying them.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

The people who did 9/11 came from Saudi Arabia. How many of you Trumpers are complaining to Trump about his love fest with the Saudis?

The relationship between the US and the Saudis is a relationship out of necessity more than anything else. We need the Saudis, no one likes the Saudi government, but we need their oil, the fact they have a lot of influence in dealing with terrorism that can benefit us. No one in the White House past or present thanks for a moment of what the Saudi government really is, but right now I can’t be helped, they also help us to contain Iran. So yes, we do need to lick their boots, if we don’t, the Chinese or Russians will and that would be a very dicey predicament.

Twitter needs to ban Trump now. Plain and simple, this is racist incitement designed to stir up Trump's white nationalist base.

What racist rhetoric? Ilhan Omar and Tlaib were way out of line saying what they said about Israel and 9/11 and the only person that put their life in jeopardy was Omar, she didn’t have to say those incendiary remarks like that and guess what, the more she keeps saying racist and outrageous things like that, she will always have to look over her shoulder. She needs to think about that or Twitter needs to block her

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

So yes, we do need to lick their boots, if we don’t, the Chinese or Russians will and that would be a very dicey predicament.

Where have you been all these years? China and Russia are just as involved with UAE as we are. No amount of "boot licking" is going to change that. It is interesting how you condemn Omar's comments and then turn around and high five the people that were responsible for the 9/11 attacks though...how un-american of you.

Isn't this proving the point? Trump doesn't have to worry about being assassinated because he is white and minorities aren't stupid enough to be so riled up by twitter comments, unlike his base. That seems to be what you are saying here anyways. Why should anyone have to look over their shoulder for using their 1st amendment rights? How is America ever going to be great if we can't even do that...?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Where have you been all these years? China and Russia are just as involved with UAE as we are.

Not to the level we are and they certainly don’t have the hardware we have.

No amount of "boot licking" is going to change that.

Yes, it does and it has so far, another reason why they are working closely with the Israelis and the Saudis allow them to launch air strikes and attacks for their airbases. As much as I dislike that Obama, even he knew that.

It is interesting how you condemn Omar's comments and then turn around and high five the people that were responsible for the 9/11 attacks though...how un-american of you.

You’re doing the same thing to me as what congressman Lieu did to Candace Owens. You can go back and look at every single comment I made, there is not one single comment or word that I have spoken where I have said I supported the 9/11 attacks, none. Omar’s comments were ignorant, petty, hurtful to thousands of people around the world and her fellow Democrats are letting her get away with it. How dare they?! When the Democrats complained about Steve King and his incendiary comments, he was censured and removed, now he just votes present and the Democrats won’t do the same, won’t call her out or do damage control, disgraceful.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Hopefully, AOC's equally asinine response will cost her her seat. She did a classic democratic move: avoid any responsibility and acuse your critics of racism. She said the photo of 9/11 put out by the NY post was "triggering" New York was fundamentally changed by 9/11, people in NY live with 9/11 everyday. Entire fire departments wiped out. Yet AOC took ilhan's side over the post's, even though AOC is supposed to represent NY.

These dems are making it too easy for Trump to get 4 more years. Nancy needs to get control of her children. They are out of control.

NY will vote her out. Getting backwards people in MN to follow suit seems more challenging.

The dems, or the RFO party-racism for every occasion, are the ones inciting violence and racism.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

Isn't this proving the point? Trump doesn't have to worry about being assassinated because he is white and minorities aren't stupid enough to be so riled up by twitter comments, unlike his base.

That was just so out of whack that comment, I’m not even going to address it. Once again, the left will never get anything, not even the WH if they continue on race card jihad. Omar is responsible for Omar. Omar was the one that insulted thousands of people around the World that lost love ones and know exactly who the perpetrators were and she talks as if millions of people are stupid. At this rate I don’t think the woman has a long career in politics, I seriously doubt that

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

How is it "out of whack"? Your comment on how people in America may have to fear for their life for exercising the 1st amendment is "out of whack". Trump makes insulting comments all the time towards minorities, disabled, etc. He isn't worried about his safety.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

If you want to take her comments as hurtful, go ahead. But we all know, all she meant was Muslims were unfairly categorized as terrorists after 9/11 and that's a fact...don't know how you can deny it. Why aren't whites categorized as mass murderers who will waltz into a mosque and slaughter women, children, and elderly after the NZ attack? Because it was just something that someone did, right? I'm curious why the rest of the world doesn't freak out and condemn the right wing response to that. Probably because they are more mature and intellectually developed than Trump's party.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

How is it "out of whack"? Your comment on how people in America may have to fear for their life for exercising the 1st amendment is "out of whack".

Really? Then if you think so, don’t be outraged or upset when Trump says something insulting to anyone ever again, regardless of what that is, fair?

Trump makes insulting comments all the time towards minorities, disabled, etc. He isn't worried about his safety.

And they insult him. LeBron James, Spike Lee, John Legend, his wife, I could go on, but as you said in your own words, it’s the first amendment so if Trump says something insulting back to them, you’re ok with it. Good to know.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Really? Then if you think so, don’t be outraged or upset when Trump says something insulting to anyone ever again, regardless of what that is, fair?

I guess you didn't read my comment, I'm not the one threatening her life over comments. Individuals associated with Trump's base are though...

4 ( +5 / -1 )

If you want to take her comments as hurtful, go ahead.

Not just me, thousands of other people, AOC and Tlaib both said, she’s gotten a lot of death threats, if so, none of them should complain, man up and take whatever comes with the insults.

But we all know, all she meant was Muslims were unfairly categorized as terrorists after 9/11 and that's a fact...don't know how you can deny it.

I’m sorry, but from 1993 and if you look at the timeline in the US of the biggest terror attacks they weren’t caused by Christians except for McVeigh and after that, they were all Muslim Jihadists, has nothing to with hate, the facts of what happened don’t lie and cannot be changed. If there was an overreaction, it can’t be helped given the circumstances of who and the amount of attacks that were waged upon us.

Why aren't whites categorized as mass murderers who will waltz into a mosque and slaughter women, children, and elderly after the NZ attack?

How many times has that happened over the last 20 years? And yes, it was bad, no to undermine it.

Because it was just something that someone did, right? I'm curious why the rest of the world doesn't freak out and condemn the right wing response to that.

If they committed in the same way as much destruction of terrorism and carnage worldwide or particularly in the west by radical fundamentalist jihadist , then there would be.

a strong Muslim woman of color.

perfect enemy of Trumpolites

your joking right!? Trump was degrading women and muslims long before Omar was even elected to government. why do you think she was elected along with a record number of women during the midterms, pure coincidence! LOL

4 ( +8 / -4 )

What a joke - Trump and his supporters faux outrage over some comments taken out of context in a 20 minute speech.

When he have The Donald doing the following;

Since the day of the attack itself, Trump has used 9/11 as a way to enrich and promote himself. In a radio interview just hours after the attack happened, Trump claimed that with the towers destroyed he now had the tallest building in downtown Manhattan (he did not). According to a New York Daily News investigation, his company also collected $150,000 in funds meant to support small businesses, despite his building taking no damage and being nearly a mile away from the site of the World Trade Center. While first responders were dealing with health problems after pulling bodies from the rubble, the billionaire real estate developer gladly scammed six figures off of the attack.

Since entering politics, Trump’s doubled down on exploiting the event, and usually he couples it with attacks on Muslims. He insists to this day that “thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey were celebrating on rooftops when the towers fell, which is a widely discredited and debunked claim. Despite this, he says that he saw it on the news and it was “widely covered," even though there's no evidence of any broadcasts with footage or reporting to back him up.

https://www.gq.com/story/trumps-attack-on-ilhan-omar-is-his-latest-911-scam

Day after day, its just one con job after another...

Lets not forget, Trump bragged about having the tallest building in NYC the day after the attacks happened.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

@lincoln

Besides the typical msm liberal media narrative, what does that have to do with Omar and her incendiary remarks, keep them focused on Omar, no platitudes please? I’m sincerely curious.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

No ill will

Trump speaks in what? Innocuous commentary and has no malicious intent? No logical or sane person can possibly believe that. He’s fueled by racism and a lack of empathy toward humanity and the earth, in general. Trump supporters are scary blind to constantly pump him up and agree with his narrow views.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

@lincoln

@Bass

I'm sorry you can't understand the link between Rep Omar's faith and Trump's continual demonization of Muslims. It's a limitation I've found common in most Trumpers...

He insists to this day that “thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey were celebrating on rooftops when the towers fell, which is a widely discredited and debunked claim.

Trump's claim true or false?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

@Mr.Noidall,

Excellent posts. I completely agree.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Omar is indeed a disgrace.

But dems, by all means keep it up - gifting Trump 2020.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

I'm sorry you can't understand the link between Rep Omar's faith and Trump's continual demonization of Muslims

Trump has had a few issues with honesty when it comes to Muslims. Early on in his presidency, he retweeted videos from a known racist group in the UK and received a deserved rebuke from the UK PM. The videos were later found to be dodgy. The leaders of the racist group were later imprisoned.

How anyone can think Trump can act in good faith on this issue is beyond me. Even by his standards, he’s trailing tons of toxic, typically Trump trash on this one.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

I'm sorry you can't understand the link between Rep Omar's faith and Trump's continual demonization of Muslims. It's a limitation I've found common in most Trumpers...

Lincoln, I asked you a simple question and I’m a simple man, so do you want to answer the question? Omar’s faith doesn’t have anything to do with her insidious comments.

How anyone can think Trump can act in good faith on this issue is beyond me. Even by his standards, he’s trailing tons of toxic, typically Trump trash on this one.

Ok, so then you also agree that Omar and especially her words can’t be trusted. Interesting...

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

She said Stephen Miller is a white nationalist. There's nothing wrong with being white, nor being a nationalist, which is someone who loves his or her country. What is her big problem?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Ok, so then you also agree that Omar and especially her words can’t be trusted. Interesting...

What?

If you read my posts above, you’ll see that I see this as part of a wider problem concerning how to deal with violent Islamism. My take is to talk honestly about it and call it out for what it is. Omar should have called them out for what they were - violent Islamists. Bush 2, the President your non-partisan historians regard as a success, sometimes fell into the trap of not calling it out for what it was. Some see being evasive as just good tactics, and while I see this point, I disagree.

Trump on the other hand, has a history of barefaced lies and retweeting racists on this topic. Just as I’ll call out Omar, and I did for her anti-Semitic comments, for her choice of words, you as a non-partisan must call out Trump’s revolting trash on this issue.

It’s what non-partisans do. You are not in a cult.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Omar should have called them out for what they were - violent Islamists.

Thank you, Jim! That’s what I wanted to hear! Now I do believe in redemption and I think if this woman really wants to do something good and right, she would apologize at the very minimum and learn from this experience and try to be a better politician.
