BigYen, as a Californian, you have my deep empathy. Let's hope the winds stay down. How is the humidity?

So sorry to read this, my condolences to the families.

Climate change has affected Australia over the years. I’m afraid there will be parts which will become uninhabitable in a few years.

I guess in an Australian summer one goes to Hawaii to cool off?

The crisis has stoked widespread public anger, with protests around Australia, irritation fuelled this week by Morrison going on leave. He has weathered a storm of criticism on social media, adding to criticism that his government is failing to deliver adequate climate change policies.

Climate change has nothing to do with it, Governments have failed to keep up the burning off during the cooler months of fuel built up - the drought has dried out more of the country that adds to the fuel available, we have had harsh droughts before when I was a kid we had water restrictions in Melbourne, then add on top of that arsonists.

Its not the worst heat wave Australia has had, its what the Bureau of Meteorology has on record, but if we have a look at the local records it has been hotter in 1896

Climate change has nothing to do with it

That's an opinion similar to that of the far right Koch brothers (American billionaires who are funding climate change denial organizations in Australia and elsewhere around the globe), an opinion similar to that of the globe's oil, gas and coal corporations, and one shared by states like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Russia and others whose economies depend on selling fuels.

My opinion is similar to the NASA and other scientists who claim climate change probably can have something to do with it.

Climate change has nothing to do with it,

Climate change results in hotter, drier climates which creates conditions ripe for the spread of bushfires. Droughts and floods have been there for millions of years, but the steady rise of temperatures is an undeniable fact.

People have doubted science forever, their ignorance has done nothing more than hold back their own development. The sooner they see light the better it is for them.

Listen to experts not politicians pushing anti Green rubbish.

There has been extensive hazard reduction burns in all states.

The period for these "cool burns " has shrunk because of warming climate.

Weather, ground fuel and topography determine the severity of bush fires.

Only ground fuel can be partially altered by intervention in cooler months.

Its climate change people !

Its real, its here, and it is worse than predicted.

And yes Prime Minimal Morrison was a slack a###ed tool for leaving during this crisis.
