Great! Sue the hell out of them and make them comply with federal law. Next step is to get rid of Brown, one of the worst swamp politicians of all-time.

Trump is going to make California a red state again by 2024.

California is a crazy place. sanctuary city status is just the tip of the iceburg. Long list of madness. i.e. a drop of criminal charges to a misdemeanor for intentionally giving someone HIV.

I hope that some sanity will return to once great "California Dreaming".

California should secede. They have the population of a small country, they are propping up the rest of the country, and the deplorable near-half think that California's votes shouldn't count.

Another lawsuit that will go nowhere. It's just meant to rile up Trump's zealous base.

In other news, Stormy Daniels in suing Trump (a.k.a. "David Dennison"). He he...

Easy victory for California. The Neanderthals in the red states are asking, "why do we have to live in austerity hell, while California zooms off into the distance, leaving us to eat their dust?" Therefore, Trump needs to demonize California.

California's votes shouldn't count.

They shouldn't if they constantly break federal law.

I’ll just leave this here:

Justice Department sues over sanctuary laws...is that right. So giving sanctuary to people offends the Justice Department. Think the Justice Department could use a new title. Brown shirts is taken. Or change the meaning of sanctuary to....compassion. Things are not clear through the sights of my AR-15.

@Black--since you're bringing up California's ranking, why reference a metric that has nothing to do with conservatives' objection to "sanctuary cities"? Why not reference "crime and corrections", where the state comes in around average? On the other hand, 7 out of the 10 worst states in that metric are solidly GOP.

Great news. Squeeze them till they start acting like a first world again

The absolute foundation of the social contract is the understanding that the laws we agree on will actually be enforced. It goes without saying.

Is he trying to make them break away?

Lets be clear, states rights is only a thing if you live in a red state.

Blue states need to just shut up and keep paying for everything, right?

I think this country has a lot more to worry about than innocent and undocumented people. I'm a whole lot more worried about the idiot in White House who is definitely more of a threat to our homeland than anything else. Good grief.

Unfortunately we don’t get to pick the laws we follow and don’t follow.

Unless you're Arpaio....

I would love nothing more than for California to do that, but it’s not that easy and the only thing that would keep it afloat would be Hollywood and Silicon Valley. Other than that, California doesn’t have that much to offer and in between that, massive poverty, high taxes, cost of living overall, unless you work for a high tech company or an A-list actor. California is the worst place to be.

Other than that!? Other than the bodies buried under the porch, John Gacy was a decent guy.

California is it net loser when it comes to taxes and benefits, they always pay more than they get in federal services.

Cali isn't a great place for unskilled Trump supporters. Texas is better. Low rents, low taxes, and $14 an hour McJobs.

Low rents, low taxes, and $14 an hour McJobs.

My God! It sounds like an absolute hell on earth. Add to that cheaper food, cheaper housing (way cheaper) and an overall lower cost of living, and it only gets worse.

Of course it's not only the trump voters who have drank the kool-aid. I hear that a bunch of businesses in Cali have moved their operations to Texas. Must have been unskilled ones. But they got theirs in the end by being forced to endure an average 20 -35% reduction I operating costs. Serves 'em right.

Yep. Adios amigos. And with the GOP's tax cuts the divide will get even greater.

"And with the GOP's tax cuts the divide will get even greater."

No, but with the GOP's tax cuts the economy will boom, and unemployment will drop.
