Another trauma delivered via guns to more innocent kids.

How many more to come?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Once again the fallacy of idea that an armed guard can protect the kids is exposed. The guard in this case appears to have taken out the shooter, but not before two kids were shot at school.

The new agencies are at fault for giving kids ideas at least as much as the parents who don't secure their firearms.

It will never get better, until parents lock up their guns properly. Too much "free advertising" to kids - just like McDs.

Another school shooting, I am not even the least bit surprised.

arming teachers won’t stop people from bringing guns into the schools either.

Armed guard saved all the kids. Media has little to no interest.

Armed guard saved all the kids.

No he didn’t. Two kids were shot.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Are they dead? If not everyone was “saved” which is better than the 17 dead last time.

why do you think the liberal media is burying this story?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Their lives were saved by the armed guard.

Shifting the goalposts now are you? Previously you said saved. Now subddenly its ‘their lives were saved.’

And on top of that, these kids were shot, whether they lived or died was up to fate at that point. The security guard didn’t save their lives, just the lives of any who would have been shot and killed if the guard hadn’t killed the gunman.

Good on the guard by the way. He likely saved some lives today.

The armed guard played a significant role in no one being killed.

When I say armed guard saved all the kids what else could that mean except saved their lives? Saved their soul? Saved their cat from a tree? Sorry if you aren’t a native speaker of English. Otherwise you are just trying to play with words to distract from the point.

Oh just like the media isn’t covering Russia or Stormy Daniels anymore cause of “saturation” yep Florida school had a guard who did nothing, so you can see the difference here.

One of those guards was suspended today for sleeping in his car during work. Allowed the Florida shooters brother to enter the campus.

The media has no interest is probably because of a saturation point with these weekly tragic events. There was also an armed guard at the Florida school.

Lame response playing with words and talking about fate.

I point out that what you said was incorrect, and you call it ‘playing with words’. No, it’s pointing out that what you said was incorrect.

Fate didn’t shoot and kill the attacker and fate didn’t hire an armed guard.

No, but it will determine whether or not the two kids who were shot live or die

The armed guard played a significant role in no one being killed

The heroic guard ensured no one else got shot and therefore were not killed. He didn’t play a part in whether or not the two kids who were shot got killed.

When I say armed guard saved all the kids what else could that mean except saved their lives? Saved their soul? Saved their cat from a tree?

Saved from being shot.

Otherwise you are just trying to play with words to distract from the point.

On the contrary, this IS my point. Even with an armed security guard at the school, two kids were shot. The idea that guards can prevent these attacked from happening has been disproven again and again, yet you have the right trying to claim this as a solution to the problem.

Yeah, good on this guy for sure - instead of 17 kids being murdered, only two kids were shot. A much better outcome, but still entirely unacceptable.

One of those guards was suspended today for sleeping in his car during work. Allowed the Florida shooters brother to enter the campus.

Just one more example to show how silly the idea is that armed guards can prevent school shootings.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

you can’t “prevent” a shooting from starting. But you can end it with no deaths if an armed guard is doing his job like in this case.

A much better outcome? Yeah that’s the understatement of the year. So why was the outcome better again?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The only thing that would have made this better for me is if the hero had been ex military. He is an ex corrections officer so he obviously knows that he is doing. These are the types of people to be hired, not old guys breaking up fights on playground while waiting to retire.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

you can’t “prevent” a shooting from starting.

You can’t if you let your populace arm itself.

So why was the outcome better again?

Because 17 kids aren’t dead

The only thing that would have made this better for me is if the hero had been ex military.

Hmm. The only thing that would have made it better for me was if no kids had been shot at school.

We really have different views about ideal outcomes apparently.

If you tell someone over and over that guns are not bad, eventually they will start to believe it.

Armed guard saved all the kids. Media has little to no interest.

Two kids were shot, one is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Your idea of 'saved' is not the same as mine.

why do you think the liberal media is burying this story?

What makes you think anyone is 'burying' the story? Googling 'Maryland school shooting' brings up pages of reports. I see no sign that the story is being buried.

I can understand that people are not so interested in the story as news; after all, 'only' three kids (including the attacker) were shot, 'only' one is dead, 'only' one more is in critical condition. It's a 'dog bites man' story, something that happens far, far too often for it to be news anymore. The fact that it isn't shocking, is shocking.

The armed guard played a significant role in no one being killed.

The 17-year-old is dead, it isn't known yet if he was shot by the policeman or if he shot himself.

It's interesting that the latest reports are still staying that it isn't clear how the 14-year-old boy was wounded. We know that he was shot, we know that the attacker and the policeman were the only ones firing guns; yet they still cannot say conclusively that the boy was shot by the attacker. If he's in 'good condition', he should be able to say who shot him. I wonder why that piece of information hasn't been forthcoming?

If you tell someone over and over that guns are not bad, eventually they will start to believe it.

I've read that over and over here on JT, and I still haven't started to believe it. I must be slow.

The guard did their job. Yes 2 kids were shot, but this is the real world where superman doesn't exist to prevent every bad thing from happening in time. The guard wasn't aware that there was a gun on the premises until after the perpetrator drew the weapon and fired.

That being said though, it is disgusting that this is what our centers for learning have become.

Even though I grew up in a high crime neighborhood, when I went to school the worst I had to worry about was gang banger brats, but never someone shooting up an entire school even through high school. And after Columbine, this is how things have turned out in the US.

News now is that the girl was taken off life support and has died.

Very sad, and so unnecessary.

I read that. So sad. Poor family.

Unfortunately, it also proves this comment wrong:

Armed guard saved all the kids.
