And there you have it. Another deplorable escaped from the basket.

"The dems did it" cried the pubs in desperation, praying to the Alimighty Trump that the true culprit would not be found, as everyone knew right from the start that it was a righter.

This guy is a prime example of the low-intelligence sheep who voted for Trump. Right from the start, anyone with half a brain saw Trump as a complete and utter disaster. The people of middle intelligence have abandoned him. Only the dumbest of the dumb are still trying to defend him - and now those who are left are trying to murder those who hold a differing political opinion.

And why? Because Trump has prayed upon these low-intelligence Americans, preying on their latent racism, preying on their stupidity, preying on their inability to use logic. Trump preaches racism, preaches hatred, preaches violence, and now we have his deplorables acting murderous based on his preaching. He's whipped them into a frenzy, because they are too stupid to realize he's cheating them even worse than he's cheating everyone else who sees through him. Trump knows he can't cheat them, so he abuses those who are stupid enough to trust him.

If you voted for Trump, you made a really, really stupid mistake.

Trump has prayed upon these low-intelligence Americans, preying on their latent racism, preying on their stupidity, preying on their inability to use logic.

Hence Trump's penchant for speaking like a 2nd grader, he just want's to get across to his audience!

Nah, that gives too much credit to Trump for being intelligent enough to come up with a strategy like that. Trump is a closet redneck!

Hats off to all law enforcement involved in apprehending this wingnut!

All the people targeted by the suspicious packages have been maligned by right-wing critics.

Included in the complex dynamics that have resulted in this level of extremism and violence has been the use of social-media warfare intended to inflame fear and prejudice.

Breitbart, Qanon, infowars, RT/Sputnik, Fox 'news' and other ultra-rightist outlets and groups have ramped up the levels of fear and prejudice.

The Inciter-in-chief has used his bully pulpit to further increase levels of fear and prejudice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIs2L2nUL-0

When Americans are saying 'I'd rather be Russian than Democrat', when these partisan extremists see more in common with ultraright Russia than they do with the American system and their fellow American neighbors, when the above mentioned media outlets daily support their beliefs, when the president himself calls for violence, when terms like 'libs, dems, left' are used to indicate 'enemy' and not just people having different perspectives,

it has to be expected that among the vulnerable, emotionally unstable and easily manipulated nastiness like this will result.

It's been reported that right around 75% of the domestic terror attacks (cases in point: the Atlanta Olympics bombing, the Oklahoma City bombing, etc.) conducted in the U.S. have been committed by right-wing extremists.

15 ( +17 / -2 )

Let this sink in for a moment:

FBI agents arrested Sayoc, 56, in Plantation, Florida and also hauled away a white van plastered with pro-Trump stickers, the slogan "CNN SUCKS" and images of Democratic figures with red crosshairs over their faces.

14 ( +16 / -2 )

I don't care what party he was a member of prior to that. What I care about is that he fell for the unabashed cult of personality and bullying Cadet Bonespurs has spewed his entire campaign.

I can see why the suspect would enjoy it, too. A scared man, with obvious manhood issues, who sees in Trump the proverbial 'tough guy' and 'winner' that he wants to be. So he latches onto him, taking Trump's 'enemies' as his own, and as Trump tells him that it's okay to lash out, to bodyslam people, to punch them in the face, and more... he took it that many steps further.

Of course, Trump isn't going to accept any responsibility for this. Already, he's saying "Well, nobody's been attacked more than me?" and more.

About the only thing that makes Trump less of a failure than this suspect is that Trump at least has more hair.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

"I get attacked all the time ... I can do the greatest thing for our country, and on the networks and on different things it will show bad,"

Because you say inflammatory nonsense.

Egomaniacal whiner.

Radical

Right Wing

Terrorism

Why wont Trump just say it ?

Perhaps Krisjtjjen Nielsen can suspend her vigil at the border and concern herself with protecting our public figures from right wing terrorist attacks.

"We must never allow political violence to take root in America - cannot let it happen," Trump said. "And I'm committed to doing everything in my power as president to stop it and to stop it now."

I wish I could believe him, but he's told so many lies that it's pretty hard to accept anything he says.

Maybe some of Trump's followers willing to look at violence in the US realistically will see that the greatest threats to Americans are not asylum seekers, 'MiddleEasterners', nor foreigners, especially non-Europids, of any sort. Of course the state has to protect its citizens from all threats, including threats from some among those groups.

But with domestic terrorism the biggest thing Americans should fear, maybe that's where more attention needs to be paid.

Here he is with his MAGA friends at a Trump rally:

I'm glad he was caught and thankful no one was hurt.

Seems like a lone wolf operation rather than an organized plot.

@concernedcit Seems like a lone wolf operation rather than an organized plot.

It's way too early to say that this early in the investigation. This is not Russia with its Potemkin trials and investigations. It SHOULD take time to do a thorough investigation. Let the intelligence agencies sort this out.

I'm sure even Trump supporters, at least those who are Americans, are pleased to see how quickly US intelligence agencies got this wingnut.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

What a moron, glad they caught him. Of course he made it pretty easy....

7 ( +7 / -0 )

@concernedcit Seems like a lone wolf operation rather than an organized plot.

From the article:

One federal law enforcement source told Reuters that authorities were still investigating whether other individuals were involved and did not rule out the possibility of more arrests.

Something I recall from a statistics course taken long ago was 'in any sizable population, anomalies and outliers are bound to occur'.

Trump has millions of true believers (Cult of personality, after all). Hopefully among them are a few who after following this case will begin to distrust at least some of what they read posted on social media, in outlets like Breitbart, RT, infowars, Fox 'news', etc., claiming all problems come from some Trump-identified 'enemy', perhaps the deep state, the media, libs, dems, and will see they need to get facts (real, not alternative) before blindly following their leader.

Political messiahs don't exist. And never have.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I'm glad that they got him and no one was hurt.

As for Trump, I'm not going to blame him for one guy's action, but obviously he says things that promote violence and obviously his base gets off on it. There's a lack of maturity there.

And he did the same thing when there was a debate about forgetting the fallen soldier's name during the phone call. He got up in front of the media and said the same thing, that he is the victim of the media. It's weird...like when the media focuses on a victim he sees it as an opportunity to take that spotlight and shine it on himself. Again, not something any of us would do because it's not decent, but his base gives him a pass because they don't have a choice.

If this turns into a pattern then I might change my mind, but the amount of violent fantasies I hear from conservatives talking about shooting people is getting creepy.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

white van belonging to him, the windows of which were plastered with pro-Trump stickers, the slogan "CNN SUCKS" and images of Democratic politicians with red cross-hairs over their faces.

Seems like he wanted to get caught.

0 ( +6 / -6 )

Charge him with everything they can - seems like 14 crimes at least, probably 28, since using mail and crossing state lines adds in more.

Give him his day in court.

He probably needs a psychologist too.

If found guilty, put him in jail, probably for the rest of his life.

Sick people find a way.

It's unusual they covered the van with a tarp. Clearly, they were attempting to hide the political significance. The LA Times:

“I did not see my face on the van,” he said at the White House when a reporter asked about the alleged attacker. “I heard he was a person that preferred me over others, but I did not see that.”

Like a child with his hands covering his eyes to avoid reality. I suppose the tarp order came from above.

Garbage, the difference for conservatives is the climate that the msm have been perpetuating in defiance of this President has motivated and made them realize that the liberal media is not looking out for their best interests and that the only thing they care about are clicks and they’re on to that, rather than take a pitchfork and torch outlook, they are willing to wait and see more information, the left think for some reason their reporting is immersed in facts all the time and every single time and is therefore not allowed to be questioned or even challenged.

Funny.

They always do, at least he’s off the street and can’t hurt anyone anymore. That’s the most important thing.

Read his police record and you will understand what kind of people love trump.

I think part of the problem is depicting a whole group of people, ‘the left’ in this case, as a monolith. When you do that, it becomes easier to hate them.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

It's one thing to question or challenge the media with facts and cites, it's another to challenge the media with conspiracy theories and falsehoods, which is what Trump supporters do.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

The suspect's former lawyer said of him:

"A 14 year old in an adult's body".

Now, who does that remind you of?

Compared to the opposition supporters who try murdering republicans at a baseball practice? Or deranged has beens telling Democrats to attack republican supporters at restaurants? PMSL

"If we don't stop this political mania, this fervor, rancor, hatred, you'll see this again and again and again," New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told MSNBC. "...It starts with the president."

Said Cuomo while continuing with his own fervor, rancor, and hatred. It's those other people who must stop the rancor.

The Washington Post had an interesting article about the suspect if you are interested. Briefly, he was another loser loner. No family, lived in his van for a decade, no future.

Also, the family's lawyer was on CNN and said that Cesar simply didn't have the mental or logistical capacity to do anything like this alone. I think the plot will thicken.

I also blame social media, not just in this case, but in general for the spread of political extremism. It both helps people confirm their biases and also goad them into stupid actions like this. Life never used to be so political all the time. These days, people can immerse themselves in their own particular belief system and dehumanize those with whom they disagree.

Try murdering? Do you prefer successful murdering like in Charlottesville?

@PTownsend: Political messiahs don't exist. And never have.

I beg to differ...Ghandi? Mandela? Hitler? Good or bad, political 'messiahs' have been a reality, and those aren't the only three, just the ones that come quickly to mind.

Good on the authorities finding the alleged culprit relatively quick

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Those types of stick on decals and images on the perp's van would fade and discolor very quickly on vehicles sitting out in the hot south Florida sun. After only a few months anything on those windows would look worn out; not like they were attached, say, five days ago.

Looking at pictures of the van, something is not quite right. Those types of stick on decals and images would fade and discolor quickly on vehicles sitting in the hot south Florida sun. After only a few months anything on those windows would look worn out; instead of being attached, say, five days ago.

Glad this was taken care of so quickly. I can't stand fanatical partisanship, and this is how far it can be taken if not further (like the shootings, and death threats).

Trump denies any responsibility with his rhetoric, Some fire starters at Fox and cronies keeps trying to peddle the rhetoric, and distract with conspiracies.

Yeah, they asked for this. Cult 45 owns it hook line and sinker.

Well done to the law enforcement agencies for tracking down this unpatriotic terrorist.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

One of Trump’s base, laid out for all to see. Funny to watch people defend the man indirectly by defending and engaging in Trump’s rhetoric, which is to blame. They are equally to blame.
