They're correct for once.

All this pain and disruption for what? For the orange idiot to declare victory in the rose garden? Is he insane or are we for putting up with this nonsense?

I can imagine the morale of IRS headhunters looking for temps, with the pitch "We're shutting down again the week after you start."

Trump respects Pelosi. What will his followers do?

Oh my . . .

After polls showed Americans increasingly blamed Trump for the situation

Which makes sense: TRUMP SHUT DOWN the government.

Only Individual 1's hardest core followers won't admit Don-Jeb SHUT DOWN the government. And lost.

As a candidate, Trump pledged to build the wall, with Mexico paying for it

Add Mexico to the list of countries that have shown Trump's a blowhard, or as many of his former supporters now say 'wimp'.

So a small fraction of government workers who are non essential and some of whom didn’t even work are owed 6 billion dollars for 35 days? Yet we can’t even get 2 billion for border security?

Federal workers are owed about $6 billion in back pay, according to a study released last week.

Kind of kills the “too expensive” narrative doesn’t it? We can get a wall for cheaper than 1 month of salary for 1/4th of the total government workforce. That’s cheap let’s get it done.

Lots of respect for those that keep the country going.

No, you can't get 2 billion for a wall. Stop intentionally conflating the albatross with border security.

We aren’t even offered 2 billion for “border security” without a wall either. That’s like 10 days pay for 1/4th of the federal workforce. How are we going to secure the border with that small amount of money?

But what about the price of tea in China! How are you not equally offended by that. Absolutely disgusting.

As U.S. government reopens, lawmakers say shutdowns don't work

Someone better alert Trump to this.  Because as incredible as it may sound, he's planning to do it again.

If the Dems are found to have lied about their willingness to negotiate when he reopens then yes. Hopefully Dems keep their word.

The only good to come out of this shutdown was that some of Trump's loyalist base finally started realising that the emperor has no clothes. Hence the record low popularity ratings following the Trump shutdown.

It's always shockingly hilarious when Trump supporters worry about anyone lying.

The solution to this problem is so simple. Just get Mexico to pay for it. It's so easy.

why not they wanted to and were prepared to work yet Trump didnt allow them ,6billion loss is all on Trump he owned this shutdown , Dems put in a number of bills for 1.6billion in border security, which he refused to sign. So as you can see the master negotiator has failed again, its this same logic that probably caused him to declare bankruptcy 5 times.

If the Dems are found to have lied about their willingness to negotiate

say what!, do Trump supporters really have the gall to state somthing like that!?

Hence the record low popularity ratings following the Trump shutdown.

while it may not be a record its getting close, all major poll average show him at 39% approval, 56% disapprove +/- 4%

They're correct for once.

Have to admit one thing though - it drew attention to the fact that the Dems are refusing to do their job and provide the necessary votes to properly fund border security as our border security people want.

Oh my...

President Trump has shown that he's serious about border security, but now it's time to go big.

Incorrect. It demonstrates that Trump, who took prideful ownership of the shutdown on TV, refuses to do his job. Oh my . . . Tee Hee. HAR!

President Trump is allowing the 800,000 non-essential federal employees until Feb. 15th to find new jobs.

Then why didn't you get it done from Jan 2017 to Dec 2018? Had House and both sides of Congress. FAILURE...

If the Dems are found to have lied about their willingness to negotiate when he reopens then yes. Hopefully Dems keep their word.

"Mexico will pay for the wall, mark my words, mark my words" - he said that over 200 times during the campaign. Sure kept that word, didn't he....

President Trump has shown that he's serious about border security, but now it's time to go big.

Coulter: He has less spine than Obama, Clinton or Carter. He "caved". His plan is a "loser"... and that's just from his fellow conservatives...

You know what's scary - Trumpers actually believe this tripe - they have no idea how government functions - talk about a fifth grade understanding of the world...

Talk it out while keeping the government open

Start by asking Mexico for the wall - that's what was campaigned for

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The president demanded that $5.7 billion in wall funding be part of any measure to end the shutdown

In a letter to Pelosi, wives of Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents asked the Democrat leader to visit Texas to see the need for a barrier firsthand. It will be interesting to see if she accepts the invitattion.

Isn't the wall $20+B and $5.7B just for 1 yr of effort?
