Xi has turned out to be quite a dark, brutal dictator.. What he has planned for China and the world is anyone's guess

"Also included in the amended constitution was the party's"absolute" leadership over the military"

I don't see anything wrong about the President has absolute power over the military. The Western democratic Government has that kind of power for President. I see it as good thing for its neighbors because you have to deal with just President for most of border issue. The Military Chief can not go the other way around.

What a joke. He's a colourless bureaucrat.

Yes, but also a very shrewd and despotic one. This man is much more capable than some of the clowns in charge elsewhere.

It’s easy to have your way when you can execute anyone who opposes.

A President in a democratic country is usually voted into office by the people. Chinese people have no voting rights. In democratic countries the military exists to protect the nation. In China the military exists to protect the Communist Party of China.

Not really the issue. I’ve got no time for the CCP thugs, but not as much dislike for them as one of my Chinese colleagues living in Japan ( I’d rate him as the brightest in our department ). Even he admits Xi is no fool.

It’s just honesty. Let’s imagine Xi and Trump sitting down to discuss say, geopolitics and economics for an hour or so.

Who would dry up first?

Interesting.  Only a few weeks ago, many here were praising him and his policies, while blasting Abe and Trump.

What does China have planned for the world?  How about this for starters:

He’d start by banning Winnie the Pooh, I guess.
