It's about time republicans grew a pair and saw Trump for the tin pot little dictator he is....

and referring to her as "Pocahontas," a nickname widely seen as racist.

Shameful 'pandering' once again to the white nationalists in his base. Businesses know their US markets are made up of people from all races. Most cannot afford to alienate any ethnic group. Watch more businesses distance themselves from Trump.

Racism Is All Trump Has Left

Facing a tough reelection fight, the president tries to rally his base with the bogeyman of Obama and a reassertion of racial hierarchy.

The right figures using racial stereotypes is ok as long as the target of the stereotype isn't actually of that race.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

So, if it's more about "the heroes within them, not the name on the fort" as McEnany said for the president, a name change should be no big deal.

https://www.rawstory.com/2020/06/kayleigh-mcenany-renaming-confederate-forts-is-personally-offensive-to-trump/

Good, now maybe rename some of those bases after African American veterans.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Here's a list of African-American Medal of Honor recipients. Maybe choose a few of them for base names and to remind those unaware of the sacrifices made for the country by so many African-Americans and other people of color. Maybe one of several honored for their bravery and service during the US Civil War

I'd love to see a Fort Sherman in Georgia. tehe

1 ( +3 / -2 )

LOL!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

"Hopefully our great Republican Senators won't fall for this!" Trump wrote.

Once again Trump's making race a 'political' issue. To be expected, I guess, in a republic built on democratic principles, one where free speech is allowed.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Not only Republican-led SASC is ditching the racist Confederacy. So is NASCAR, which has decided to stop flying the rebel flag.

Long overdue.

Keep digging Trump. It's great to watch. He is so out of touch with the mood of people in the US.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Give in the the mob, pathetic.

Keep digging Trump. It's great to watch. He is so out of touch with the mood of people in the US.

It's so true.

The far-right should be pushing any and all of their ridiculous agendas as hard as they can right now - Trump is foolish enough to respond to them all. And the more he does, the deeper a grave he digs for himself.

The far-right should be pushing any and all of their ridiculous agendas as hard as they can right now

I mistakenly typed far-left, but upon reading it, far-right works as well.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

How many towns and cities in the US will have to change their names too?

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Sad to see these clowns bowing to the mob. Do they not realize there is no end to ever more insane demands once they start giving in?

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Slowly but surely progress is being made! No traitors' names on U.S. bases. They were not fighting for the United States.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Sad to see these clowns bowing to the mob. Do they not realize there is no end to ever more insane demands once they start giving in?

You're right. You should tell Trump to tweet angrily about it. Get him on the case, and be very clear about why this is insane!

Sad to see these clowns bowing to the mob. Do they not realize there is no end to ever more insane demands once they start giving in?

Give in the the mob, pathetic.

It's so enjoyable watching Trump supporters dissing their fellow Repubs...

Just yesterday they were calling their previous conservative icon John Bolton a "a fraudster hustling a book for money"....

And prior to that their other conservative icon Ann Coulter unloaded on Trump calling him a "retard" - and they had to diss her...

Jeff Sessions - another hero of Repubs. They call him a big-eared country bumpkin...

Repubs dissing Repubs - it's better entertainment than Keeping Up With the Kardashians...

They dont even know who they are vandalizing by now.

Baldwin argued for the right of African Americans to vote in Pennsylvania during the state’s 1837 Constitutional Convention, and helped establish a school for African American children where he paid teachers’ salaries for years.

“He hired blacks in his shops when that was not the norm,” Walsh said. “He was BLM [Black Lives Matter] before there was a slogan.”

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

They dont even know who they are vandalizing by now.

What vandals do is completely irrelevant to this article. The Republican Senate panel wants to get rid of bases named after Confederate leaders. And good on them, why should the US honor traitors?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

He doesn’t pass the virtue test either. You might want to read a book about his racial views.

I'd love to see a Fort Sherman in Georgia. tehe

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Basically no person alive prior to 2017 passes any liberal virtue or purity test.

so let’s just not name anything for anyone.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Sad to see these clowns bowing to the mob

With elections coming soon the same 'clowns' that had lauded Trump once again, and as always, have wet fingers in the air sensing public mood. That their principles are applied situationally is a reality in democracies. Tradeoffs are part of the republic. Lots of perspectives on that. But I still prefer the erratic flimsiness of democracies to the single party, race based, ultra-nationalistic autocracies those in the global alt right push.

so let’s just not name anything for anyone.

If I understand correctively, I hear you saying it's all your way or no way, i.e. binary. When I first went to a bar after turning 21 I remember hearing he-men saying 'there's (sic) two kinds of people in the world'. I understood that to mean good people like the speaker and evil others. Thought it was a sign of intellectual vulnerability then and still do today.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

He doesn’t pass the virtue test either. You might want to read a book about his racial views.

Neither would Lincoln for that matter, but no one here is talking about any "virtue test." Simply put, the US federal government shouldn't be honoring traitors. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

And you missed my point entirely: Rightists are so worried about people forgetting history, but I'll bet putting renaming a base in Georgia after a patriot who burnt it to the ground would make sure they won't forget. :D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherman%27s_March_to_the_Sea

so let’s just not name anything for anyone.

lol I love this; If I we can't name bases after traitors, no one should get a base named after them. Pack up your toys and just go home.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

You cant name a base after Sherman. He doesn’t meet the criteria you have set for other namings.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Sure is a lot of Dem/liberal support for people who burn and loot these days.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Sorry, not Republicans (sometimes I vote Republican) I mean Trump2ANRAWhiteEvangelical Republicans. There is an important difference. Mitt Romney. He seems like a decent person. Trump is not. So is Steve King. Steve King is very very racist.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Sure is a lot of Dem/liberal support for people who burn and loot these days.

Sure is probably a bit more support from some Republicans opposing anti-fascism, but that seems to come mainly from the partisan extremists still pushing Trump's peculiar brand of national socialism.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

You cant name a base after Sherman. He doesn’t meet the criteria you have set for other namings.

What criteria is THAT? Go ahead, name that criteria. As per usual, you're putting words in the mouth of others.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Basically no person alive prior to 2017 passes any liberal virtue or purity test.

What is a virtue test? Who administers this test?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Seems that Confederate statue they pulled down seriously injured someone.

Police were afraid to step in and someone got their skull split open during mob rule.

Why dont we indict that statue for racist, attempted murder?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Statues are inanimate objects, and therefore cannot be arrested. It's astonishing that you have to be taught this.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Police were afraid to step in and someone got their skull split open during mob rule.

Trump is afraid to officially declare ANTIFA a terror organization. I just checked whitehouse.gov and still no ANTIFA listed under official terror groups. It's so funny that Trump is kissing BLM's butt and before he used to call them a terror group.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

figured it was worth a shot to advance the Confederate statues. rename the bases, everything is racist narrative. might be time to hold racist statues accountable for their actions too.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

might be time to hold racist statues accountable for their actions too.

Trump started this. It's on his watch and he has failed badly. He can't even build a wall.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Businesses know their US markets are made up of people from all races. Most cannot afford to alienate any ethnic group. Watch more businesses distance themselves from Trump.

On that note I read corporations are distancing themselves from Fox's Tucker Carlson, a part-time Trump media spokesmale and full-time white nationalist spokesmale. The market itself is turning on Trump's peculiar brand of race-based authoritarian capitalism/national socialism.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

He can't even build a wall

I haven't been following that issue. Are you saying Mexico isn't paying for Trump's sea to shining sea wall?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

figured it was worth a shot to advance the Confederate statues. rename the bases, everything is racist narrative.

Confederate generals definitely were. They were also traitors to the United States, so why do you think we should name bases after them?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

figured it was worth a shot to advance the Confederate statues. rename the bases, everything is racist narrative. might be time to hold racist statues accountable for their actions too.

Seems like you've had enough shots for today.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

So, some of the more sensible Republicans are finally waking up to the injustices and cruelty of the Confederate ideal of slavery. Now, if only the one's still arguing against this sort of racism would set their alarm clocks to yesterday, we'd be having more civil discourse, instead of having them defend not being racist by wanting racist things.

Today with our nation beset by subversive groups and propaganda which seeks to destroy our national unity, we can look for inspiration to the lives of Lee and Jackson to remind us to be resolute and determined in preserving our sacred institutions … remain steadfast in our determination to preserve freedom, not only for ourselves, but for other liberty-loving nations who are striving to preserve their national unity as free nations.

“In these days of uncertainty and turmoil, Americans must emulate Jackson’s example and stand like a stone wall against aggression in any form that would seek to destroy the liberty of the world,” he added.

At the dedication of confederate statues- the Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee Monument- in 1948, in Baltimore.

The speaker? democrat mayor Thomas D'Alessandro, Jr.

Do we know him for another reason these days?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Do we know him for another reason these days?

Please be specific

4 ( +4 / -0 )

That would just ruin the hypocritical surprise of someone criticizing Confederate symbols/names for politics, yet refusing to answer about their own family saying such words of praise at a monument dedication.

Google is your friend.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Sad to see these clowns bowing to the mob. Do they not realize there is no end to ever more insane demands once they start giving in?

I agree.

With elections coming soon the same 'clowns' that had lauded Trump once again, and as always, have wet fingers in the air sensing public mood.

That goes for the Democrats as well, particularly them.

That their principles are applied situationally is a reality in democracies.

Look at every Liberal State and the lawlessness that’s prevailing and they’re allowing it to happen, but it’s their principles.

Tradeoffs are part of the republic. Lots of perspectives on that. But I still prefer the erratic flimsiness of democracies to the single party, race based, ultra-nationalistic autocracies those in the global alt right push.

And I over what the radical left is pushing and it’s chaos!

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

That would just ruin the hypocritical surprise of someone criticizing Confederate symbols/names for politics, yet refusing to answer about their own family saying such words of praise at a monument dedication.

I see, is this why you think the US should honor traitors by naming bases after them?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Nancy Pelosi refuses to comment on her Daddy dedicating Confederate monuments and heaping praise on the leaders being honored there.

For me, the bases are already named. Long ago. Would we name these bases for these people now? Not likely.

If we start renaming, like any other it next think you know we will be demolishing Mt. Rushmore, removing the Washington Monument/Jefferson Memorial, taking everyone off all our money, and digging up peoples graves to spray paint "racist" or "slave owner" in their coffins.

Give liberals an inch, they wont stop. Except for those who liberals want to create exceptions for. This will turn into a political nightmare as each person is judged based on 2020 liberal "cancel culture" standards. No one will withstand that judgement.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

We have chaos in our cities, with a major insurrection in Seattle, and our politicians are concerned with renaming military bases which virtually no one was talking about until a week ago. Pathetic.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The Republican-led U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee voted to require the Department of Defense to rename military bases named after Confederate generals, setting up a clash with President Donald Trump, who opposes that change and promised a veto.

Wow, republicans starting to grow back a pair!!!

The fact that they are openly standing up to dear leader shows they know he is going to lose badly in the polls!!
