Nobody wants to "lock up illegal immigrant children", but when their parents break US law and enter the country illegally, what should happen? Let the kids run free? Catch and release doesn't work. He wants to streamline immigration. It is unclear what that actually means. Also, he wants "a path" to citizenship for the 11M people illegally in the USA. I don't believe deporting all of them is viable, but there needs to be restitution for breaking US law.

If he can find a way to fund these programs without raising taxes, I'm all for it. He seems like the lease-lefty Democratic candidate so far. Being in Texas and in San Antonio, most democrats aren't too far left. Once we learn more about his ideas, he might be the best candidate. Democrats need to add 3 or 4 additional Senate seats in order to take control of the Senate, and there are 34 Senate seats up for grabs in 2020.

I'm happy to hear Castro's announcement. But before the Democratic presidential field gets too overcrowded, we need to convince more compelling candidates to seek Senate seats in their home states.

I think it's great to see intelligent, younger candidates throwing hats in the ring. I echo the worry that the D establishment might sabotage those deemed not acceptable by PACs that have previously backed Ds.

Interesting that Castro praised Black Lives Matter. Hispanics and blacks have not often cooperated well. Campaigning is not always about winning but about opening doors to dialogue.

Obama had the media as his partner and social media as a tool, but this character is going directly for the "popularity" contest using the social media. He is playing the less direct approach and appealing to the "common people" base that desire "personal" intimacy via the social media without actually having to deal with anything other than to express an appealing opinion along with that intimate scene. In social media "credibility" and "accountability" is sometimes very much ignored as much as having a need to be "entertaining".
