It’s shameful to see the Democrats taking Iran’s fascist government’s side in this dispute.

This will be a refrain heard throughout Trump's tenure as he and his minions continue to distort and hide information to protect themselves and their financial backers around the globe. Trump, counter to his claims (i.e. more lies) to transparency is running the most secretive and distrustful administration in US history. What all is Trump hiding. Who, besides himself and his family, around the globe is he protecting. Corrupt human. Corrupt businessman. Corrupt politician.

The above quote an example of telling a big lie, something the global alt right learnt from their Italian/German heroes in the 1930s.

Limiting Trump's erratic behavior with oversight is a good thing. But at the end of the day he can just lie again about an "imminent threat.". It's his nature to lie.

Assassinating a government official is essentially a declaration of war. Whether or not you agree with Obama's actions, they targeted non-state actors. Big difference.
theFu
If they don't have 2/3 in both houses of congress this is like farting into the wind. But they are on the record.
No US President can declare war. That is reserved for the US Senate in the Constitution.
OTOH, I'm confused how anyone in the modern world would side with any country who has a mandatory dress code for 51% of the citizens and visitors.
bass4funk
Not to worry, Trump would just veto it, done and if Congress tries to override that, it probably won’t happen, they would never be able to get the votes. So either way, Trump has the last word on this.

Or perhaps it's a response to his corrupt regime. His constant distortions and lies have made him distrustful, especially to those who think a leader should be honest. And who think that a leader should be a good communicator. And that a leader shouldn't encourage foreign governments to meddle in US politics. And that the president shouldn't try to overreach his authority, that he should respect the balance and separations of powers. And that a leader shouldn't attack other branches of government. And that a leader shouldn't be so thin skinned that he attacks media outlets that question him - while the outlets report what he'd said verbatim. And that nepotism is flat wrong. And that a leader shouldn't hide his tax info while he's in office. And that a leader shouldn't use his office for his own financial benefit. (see Trump golf courses). Among many others.

Oooooh! I know of another way to limit Trump's powers with regard to war with Iran, and limit his powers on everything.....the Senate could do their constitutional duty and REMOVE him from office after the House sends the articles tomorrow.
Trump's actions at his club at Maralago alerted members that he was going to strike Iran. Defense stocks surged before the attack.
Just a coincidence?
Blacklabel
Just trying to tie his hands. He won’t sign it of course and they will never get 2/3 majority so another Dem waste of time.

Perhaps to those who support Trump's ongoing attacks on the Constitution's balance and separation of power, i.e. those Republicans who want to further undermine the republic. As long as Congress abides by the Constitution, more power to them. Why is Republican McConnell blocking legislation sent from the House?
bass4funk
The people distrust of media and Congress as a whole far less than they do the President.
Trump is brutally honest, I agree sometimes he embellishes things a bit and goes a little bit over the top, but generally speaking he’s been more honest than most presidents in my lifetime
we stop with the Russia stupid narrative, Russia has been interfering in our politics for over 80 years, nothing new here and to be fair we have done the same, ask Hillary, she’ll tell you.
Liberals and Democrats can’t even remotely touch that issue, that’ll just be a serious losing argument for them.
The House is attacking the Senate now as we speak!
Obama was thin skinned as well, he didn’t talk as much but he put his anger into actions and if nepotism is wrong, then Democrats should be upset with the Biden’s, they should be upset with the Clinton’s, they should be upset with the Bush’s and they should be upset with the Kennedy’s. As long as the Democrats continue to whine like little babies over the things that the president does and keeps the focus squarely on him and then never going to win any election, and I personally hope that they don’t stop, I want the country to see how Out of touch these people really are.

Can we all say "Losing".... Some of the Repubs are growing their spines back and realizing that the only "imminent threat" sits on the White Hose commode and tweets out doctored photos at 3:00 AM.
Blacklabel
Because we have the Senate and the Presidency and we dont want most things that a Democrat controlled House of Representatives wants.
You know, these equal branches of government you guys like to talk about.
We have 2 of them, plus the Supreme Court, you only have 1. Therefore what we say goes at least 2:1
Dont like it, win an election.

You know, things like fairness, honesty, and national unity...
That's also outlined in the Constitution - which we Trumpers are trying to overturn...Trump the Imperious!
See it's all black and white - and you only have to use two parts of your brain...
You know, do like us - collude with a foreign authoritarian government...

Like winning the Presidency?
Serrano
a resolution curbing President Donald Trump's ability to wage war on Iran without congressional approval, which would be a rebuke of the president after he ordered a strike that killed an Iranian commander in Iraq
Why are the Democrats so upset about the killing of the world's number one terrorist who was responsible for the deaths and maiming of thousands of Americans and others?
Like winning the Presidency?
Lessee, who do the Dems have... Sleepy Joe Biden... elderly socialist Bernie Sanders who's never held a real job that actually contributes money to the government in his entire life, Elizabeth Warren who lied about her ethnicity for decades and lies now about not raising taxes on the middle class to fund the $40-$50 trillion Medicare For All which will never be passed anyway... Mayor Pete who needs to fix South Bend before running for president and has a problem with killing the world's number one terrorist... Bloomberg... Yang... Hillary if she jumps in... Good grief! Gonna be mighty difficult, SuperLib!

Why aren't Trumpers outraged that they were lied to when Donnie promised to "end endless wars" and "bring the troops home"? Oh that's right, that doesn't happen in a cult....
And who are the Repubs going to nominate? Pious Pence? Portly Pompeo? Mr RINO Romney?
Maybe Donnie could try to run from Rikers Island...
Serrano
And who are the Repubs going to nominate?
Trump in 2020, and possibly Pence, Don Jr, Nikki Haley or Ivanka in 2024.
Maybe Donnie could try to run from Rikers Island...
He can't try to run from somewhere he's never going to be. Unless he's there to visit Hillary or Brennan or Schiff or...

Pence and Don Jr are going down along with Trump on the QPQ - they were part of those Sondland said were "in the loop"... Ivanka? Sure, she has experience - selling handbags at Macy's... Haley is already auditioning - even she knows Donnie is toast...
Sure, they ain't there and won't be. On the other hand, Manafort, Gates, Cohen, Stone, and soon Perry, Rudy and Flynn will all be there - just call them the Trump Rikers Island 4D chess team....
Serrano
Pence and Don Jr are going down along with Trump
President Pelosi! Yea! The country is saved!
