Nice pro EU slant.

Omitted is the fact that these "approvals" held up orders, these "approvals" came only after countries like Canada, Japan, etc.. launched official protests. "Approvals" that took a month in some cases resulting in even longer delays which will and have resulted in letting the virus spread more during that time and more likely than not more deaths.

This article sounds like they guy that says: no officer I wasn't speeding, I slowed down as soon as I saw you.

They got caught, the world reacted and then back pedaled.

Canada has ordered something like a billion vaccine doses but so far is failing to administer many as vaccine shipments have been drastically cut. Even socialist Biden is not sharing.

@proxy

Canada ordered 400 million doses out of sheer desperation because at every turn the USA and EU blocked them.

It resorted to using its Covax option the one thing the EU could not block and then the EU complained that Canada was the only country to do so (Covax is the program were rich countries paid twice the price even before any Vaccine existed so half would go to poor countries)

Canada was the second highest contributor to Covax after the EU Japan the third.

So no EU country is taking from Covax because they are getting their orders and Japan used it's option to produce locally because it has the facilities which Canada doesn't and is only building them now.

So more EU twisting of facts as they hoard the vaccine for themselves.

@zichi

Because Japan like Canada couldn't get a it's orders delivered as the USA and EU blocked and delayed.

Japan was supposed to get its shipments in November then December, then January now we are February and supposedly the first one will arrive this week.

I will believe it only once it gets here and I will not be surprised if like Canada it is only a fraction of what it was supposed to be.

Oh and the EU will claim it was a clerical error as it did in Canada's case.

Wouldn't it be nice if, the entire world agreed to vaccinate based on priorities, risk of infection and death, worldwide?

Japan has been much more effective at avoiding mass infections than China, EU, Brazil, and US, so it does make sense for those places to be vaccinated sooner f macro-grouping is the only available facts.

Definitely vaccinate medical people everywhere before the general population. Japanese nurses, doctors, and people working in hospitals/clinics should have been vaccinated before elderly in the US.

Ideally, risks for every location and sub-group would be in a sorted, worldwide DB so the order for vaccination doesn't take political decisions, just facts. Alas, those facts aren't known and could be manipulated.
