Salute, Admiral McRaven!

13 ( +14 / -1 )

This McRaven? Funny the article didn’t mention this:

“It has long been rumored that he left his job at Special Ops and took the position of chancellor of the UT system to prepare for a possibe job ahead as President Hillary Clinton’s Vice President.”

Salute, Admiral McRaven!

That was tremendously well put by Mr. McRaven. I wonder how the Dumptards are going to spin this. He is a veteran with a good track record, and their petty leader dodged the draft with bone spurs. I know they will claim that he is a Democratic operative. It’s very Russian of Dump to not let the people criticize him.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

— Theodore Roosevelt

We need more people like Brennan to speak out against this corrupt administration and an unhinged president! Bravo to Mr. Brennan!

13 ( +14 / -1 )

I see now why Brennan has been pushed as the hero and “point man” of the bin Laden raid last couple days by ex Obama admin people.

So that they couid then follow up behind that with McRaven to try to add credence to that new narrative.

Sorry for your narrative but the real heroes were the boots on the ground who completed the mission. Not McRaven and definitely not Brennan.

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

U.S. Representative Joaquin Castro said Mueller should also investigate the issue now that Trump has tied it to the Russia probe.

Drumpf , “DOH !”

Just keep up your twitter tantrums and flapping your mouth-trap. You’re building your own gallows, so to speak.

LOL! What does your military career encompass?

14 ( +15 / -1 )

Sorry for your narrative but the real heroes were the boots on the ground who completed the mission. Not McRaven and definitely not Brennan

What this article fails to mention is that McRaven is also a former Navy Seal, so I am sure that he has had his own boots on the ground before.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

The full letter from McRaven:

Dear Mr. President:

Former CIA director John Brennan, whose security clearance you revoked on Wednesday, is one of the finest public servants I have ever known. Few Americans have done more to protect this country than John. He is a man of unparalleled integrity, whose honesty and character have never been in question, except by those who don’t know him.

Therefore, I would consider it an honor if you would revoke my security clearance as well, so I can add my name to the list of men and women who have spoken up against your presidency.

Like most Americans, I had hoped that when you became president, you would rise to the occasion and become the leader this great nation needs.

A good leader tries to embody the best qualities of his or her organization. A good leader sets the example for others to follow. A good leader always puts the welfare of others before himself or herself.

Your leadership, however, has shown little of these qualities. Through your actions, you have embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and, worst of all, divided us as a nation.

If you think for a moment that your McCarthy-era tactics will suppress the voices of criticism, you are sadly mistaken. The criticism will continue until you become the leader we prayed you would be.

(End)

Looks like Trump fans have a new enemy. And another soldier to attack.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Brennen can speak out all he wants, he just no longer possesses a top security clearance. His future pontifications will carry just as much weight as any pasty skinned layabout/geo political "expert" hunkered down in their parents/in-laws basement posting on Internet blogs multiple times in a 24-hour period.

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

I don't get this communist supporter. He keeps rattling off, "Trump won't silence me!" Again, NO ONE, not even the President want to silence the man and he shouldn't, he just doesn't have access to WH classified info. Now the only way that will be a problem for Brennan is if he tries to get a job in the private sector that requires a security clearance, other than that, the man can say and do what he wants, he's on the TV 24/7 whining, but now msnbc can't ask him about information that normally he has access to, so I'm not sure if he can keep his salary or if he gets a pay cut. Holding a security clearance is a privilege and not a constitutional right. None of these Ex-Federal employees need to have their security clearance, especially using it to go after the President. I just don't understand why the President waited so long. 1 down and 9 to go.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

Sorry for your narrative but the real heroes were the boots on the ground who completed the mission. Not McRaven and definitely not Brennan.

McRaven: career navy seal

Trump: draft dodger

Doesn't take long to figure out who will have more courage between the two of them.

Cowards are of course far easier to blackmail and manipulate, especially greedy power-hungry ones.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Well, it didn't take long for the "usual suspects" on this board to imitate their beloved cult leader (Agent Orange) and personally attack a known hero, someone who has devoted their life to serving their country with impeccable honor and integrity.  Not unexpected when you call Sen McCain, a hero respected by everyone, but especially all US military personnel and veterans, a "Loser".  No doubt we'll see more invented slander of Mr Brennan and ADM McRaven.  But that only highlights their desperation and total lack of shame.

I suspect we'll see more former US senior military leaders speak out against this clear Russian-like attempt to punish those who freely criticize this President or his administration.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

The smearing begins....

black: Sorry for your narrative but the real heroes were the boots on the ground who completed the mission. Not McRaven and definitely not Brennan.

Undercutting his time in the service. Masterful. Mueller was in the military, too.

bass: this communist supporter

Wow, going old skool right out of the gate with the commie reference.

By all accounts, there are honorable men. Speaking out against Trump doesn’t erase their pasts. You really need to sit down and think about the kind of Americans you are attacking, all to service a known scammer and proven liar.

Texas: Brennen can speak out all he wants, he just no longer possesses a top security clearance.

A trade, if you will. Speak out against Trump and lose your clearance.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and predict that any ex-employee with security clearance who praises Trump in public will be fine.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

@bas4 especially using it to go after the President.

Trump backers seem fully willing to deny 1st Amendment rights to those who disagree with their political messiah. They want lese majeste type laws to protect him. Trump himself seems to want the same controls over the press that Erdogan, Putin and other despots have.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Funny to read leftists extolling the virtues of Brennon; the same guy who was part of the Deep State cabal that orchestrated the WMD hoax which drew America and other nations into the Iraq War. And now, they proclaim that "we need more people like Brennon".

Wow... just wow.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Trump backers seem fully willing to deny 1st Amendment rights to those who disagree with their political messiah.

No, because he is still mouthing and frothing at the mouth on msnbc. So his political speech is not denied, he can say what he wants and when he wants, his first amendment rights are still intact.

It's just he can't access classified info as an EX-employee, other than that, Brennan can say and do what he wants. Try again?

Wow, going old skool right out of the gate with the commie reference.

Seems like the left love the Russians.

By all accounts, there are honorable men.

Brennan??? Gee, just a few years ago liberals were sniping the guy and Klapper as well and now that he's in opposition to Trump, he's the hero.....for the time being at least. ROFL

Speaking out against Trump doesn’t erase their pasts. You really need to sit down and think about the kind of Americans you are attacking, all to service a known scammer and proven liar.

I see exactly what kind of Americans I am up against, that's why I speak out so much against liberals, EXACTLY! Been doing so since 1996

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

@texaggie  Deep State cabal t

This is an international forum, so sometimes it's hard for readers to interpret what posters might be saying. By ''deep state", is this what you mean?

The deep state is a conspiracy theory that there are a body of people who are secretly manipulating or controlling US government policy, and the President must serve their interests or else risk assassination.[36] It serves as a convenient excuse for the alt-right as to why Trump can't get anything done (e.g. It doesn't matter, the deep state are stopping him at all costs and he needs to make sure they don't take him out!).[37] Like many alt-right expressions, the term can be used as covert anti-Semitism.[38]

Nice. You’re in a rhythm. Keep going after him. Spread it all over the internet.

As if on cue...

They're not even smart enough to know the deep state cabal they're referring to is Conservative icon Dick Cheney and his crew of far right wing nuts that manufactured the intel that Conservative President Bush II used to justify the war.

And now, they proclaim that "we need more people like Brennon". Wow... just wow.

And they can't even spell Brennan's name correctly, another example of the level of intellect we're dealing with...

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Trump has got to be very careful here, or he will run out of "his" generals. Then the US will be in a fine pickle. It's not a joke. He has no idea who he's making enemies with.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

And they can't even spell Brennan's name correctly, another example of the level of intellect we're dealing with -- comment

Heh, this coming from a poster who calls President Trump "Agent Orange".

Classic.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

As if on cue...

No, we can see when we watch racists like Al Sharpton, Don Lemon, Mika and confused Joe and all the pundits from those two networks. msnbc was bad, I know first hand from experience, but now CNN surpassed them as well as literally the majority of the biggest publications NYT, Washington Post

And they can't even spell Brennan's name correctly, another example of the level of intellect we're dealing with...

Like when the previous President misspelled Marine "Corpse" instead of Corps.? Look, it happens to the best of us. Lol

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

And they can't even spell Brennan's name correctly, another example of the level of intellect we're dealing with...

Again, with the mindless cliches and stereotypes, followed by some variation of "they're just stoopid." This is what rational people have to deal with - emotionally undeveloped and poorly informed attack dogs who never stop barking long enough to learn anything. 2chan level sludge.

Not that I expect a coherent (much less thoughtful) answer from you, but what does Dick Cheney have to do with anything here?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Good on Admiral McRaven for speaking out too. Things will be coming to a head in the next month or so and it isn't going to be pretty for Trump. Trump will be undone by his careless offspring (and their partners) who should never have been in the positions they are. Enough Trump supporters will be heart broken to finally realize that they have been fooled by a fool even though they will never admit it (but they will show it at the polls in November). A large number of Americans may have given him the benefit of the doubt until now but all people have limits and Trump will feel their wrath soon. Mark my words.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Again, with the mindless cliches and stereotypes, followed by some variation of "they're just stoopid." This is what rational people have to deal with - emotionally undeveloped and poorly informed attack dogs who never stop barking long enough to learn anything. 2chan level sludge.

You've accidentally described Trump's non-stop tweets to a tee.

Not that I expect a coherent (much less thoughtful) answer from you, but what does Dick Cheney have to do with anything here?

I know the question wasn't asked to me, but the comment lincolnman was responding to somehow included the words leftists, Brennon, Deep State cabal, WMD hoax, and Iraq War without mentioning conservatives. I think he was just exposing the original comment's glaring omission.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

An interesting theory is that Trump is pushing the Overton Window gradually to expand what the gullible consider acceptable. Just like Trump's junk pardons, which clear a path for him to pardon Manafort and other partners-in-crime, he is now probing the limits of another largely unconstrained power to see how far he can eventually go in abusing it for personal ends, which is to eventually try to strip Mueller of his clearance.

We'll see how Americans react to this blatant Constitutional crime, and how the lame, terrified GOP-dominated Congress reacts to that. My guess is it will go along party line: 60% outraged, 40% quiescent. But it all comes down to how Congress acts, and that plus of outrage does not guarantee action.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The left are truly amazing, they whine constantly about Trump trying to stop free speech whatever that means, has nothing to do with blocking Brennan's security clearance, but on the flip side, liberals try to block conservatives like Ben Shapiro, Ann Coulter and Alex Jones (NO FAN) from speaking, from Twitter, Facebook, Apple and if anything, the left is desperately trying to stop the right from speaking. Liberals want and deeply believe in freedom of speech, provided it doesn't involve conservatives and their right to freedom of speech which in their eyes should be limited.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

You've accidentally described Trump's non-stop tweets to a tee.

That's another discussion entirely. But, please, feel free to use my words if it helps.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

i served in the military that’s all you need to know. It tells me that presenting McRaven or Brennan as the “point man” insinuating they were the key to success is insulting to the people who were on the mission.

Partisan political narrative. McRaven should be ashamed of being a part of it. isn’t a smear and it doesn’t discount his service or any other missions he WAS on. Just not this one.

LOL! What does your military career encompass?

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

What blatant constitutional crime would you be referring to? Removing the clearance of a guy ego no longer requires it? Or are we back to “but Russia” in some manner?

We'll see how Americans react to this blatant Constitutional crime

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

A guy who no longer requires it. Cause he works for CNN now, not the CIA

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Traitortrump has called PTSD veterans 'weak' and he lambasted the widow of a Muslim officer who died in combat in the US military. He makes fun of John McCain for having brain cancer. He makes fun of a quadraleptic journalist. He calls Omarosa a 'dog' just like a booger-eating 3rd grader. He's ill-mannered. He's not worthy to even be in public and I wouldn't want to be within a light-year from him, he is so disgusting.  It's the DUTY of Americans to oppose him.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Doesn’t matter what role I served if liberals are willing to heap praise on an ex-CIA Director and an ex-Seal who weren’t there either. Doesn’t matter where they were so doesn’t matter where I was. just because they “check the box” of hating Trump, they are revered patriots or something.

all for partisan politics, I guess.

Thank you MrBum - very well stated...

I think that this is a reference to Trump's orange appearance and the strong likelihood that he is under the influence of a foreign power.

Thank you for admitting you're all for partisan politics. But it has long been quite obvious.

You posted a link to the Washington Post the other day when making a point in defence of Trump.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

So what we've learned is that Trump is kike the Bad Santa Claus: He has a list of who's naughty or nice based on criteria linked directly to his and his family's own well-being, and if you go against that (say, in favor of the country's well-being), he'll check you as hard as his powers allow. And some don't have a problem with this?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Revoking secret clearance is not the same as silencing someone. This moron should never had the job of CIA Director.

"We need more people like Brennan to speak out against this corrupt administration and an unhinged president!"

Um, no. Brennan and Omarosa are the ones who are unhinged, not Trump.

Why was John Brennan able to keep his top secret clearance after leaving government? Do other MSNBC contributors have security clearances? If so, what national interest is served by that?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLyy7yWRq44

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

I posted the below in an earlier thread. I think it answers Bass here too

The plan isn't to shift media attention from Omarosa.

Its a calculated plan to prevent potential witnesses from accessing classified info when they are called to help investigators.

That's the whole story.

But the side effect is worse. These people on the enemy list have over 200 years of combined intelligence service. One wonders why sidelined Dan Coats doesn't resign in protest. They are sabotaging his ability to properly do his work.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

And its also not to silence any one in particular

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yeah for all these people who are supposedly being silenced they sure seem to talk a lot. And the mainstream media does their part in making sure we hear every single word they say even when we don’t want to.

Alex Jones is an example of someone who is being “silenced”. That racist NY times reporter not only was not silenced she got the blue check on Twitter. As did Peter Strzok within 24 hrs of opening an account for the only purpose of begging for money.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

You posted a link to the Washington Post the other day when making a point in defence of Trump.

They DO have a “few” impartial reporters there.

No one has stopped him from speaking. And all his stuff is still available.

Very true.

Trump must be delighted. He’s an Alex Jones fan.

Good to see Trump is seeking truth in news coverage.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

No one has stopped him from speaking. And all his stuff is still available.

But not on the main social platform where millions of people congregate and since Google, Twitter, Facebook, Apple are all owned by liberals and since they hold the majority of all the social platforms we use, it will be more difficult, but I'm not a fan of Jones anyway and Jones is not a Federal worker, he doesn't have and never had security clearance, Brennan did, but now defanged and harmless, Brennan won't be able to ramble on about stuff he doesn't need to know as an Ex-Federal employee.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

but I'm not a fan of Jones

Why not? My guess is that you see him as a crackpot conspiracy theorist or a performance artist or a mix of the two.

Why is Trump, a man who rails against fake news, a fan of Jones?

It’s very confusing.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Trump just linked the security clearance to the Russia investigation. It's like he's addicted to making the world understand how much he is trying to influence the investigation.

Trump was absolutely right to say that Mueller's investigation was a witch hunt. The irony is that Trump is a warlock in disguise!
