Crazy people will find a way.

A Q400, aka Dash-8, is multiengine, if only he'd spent more time in a PC flight simulator, he might have had a chance.

It was unclear how the employee was able to taxi the plane on a runway and take off without authorization.

He just did it. It isn't like there is a remote kill switch for aircraft that the ground has. The Dash-8 empty needs less than 2,000 ft to get off the ground. SEA has 2 runways, each over 8500 ft long. One is just over 11,900 ft. Plenty of room for a quick peal in and go, especially if you know the patterns.
