Eulogy of a Democrat mourner?

When someone running for election changes his views to satisfy the base of the party, that’s not change, that’s just more of the same Washington game. The problem is that in the Washington game today, the American people are losing.

VP candidate Joe Biden on the McCain candidacy, September 15, 2008

What a wonderful final humiliation of Traitor Trump by a true American hero. It has to be killing Trump that he was banned from the funeral. I like Presidents who AREN’T banned from funerals! RIP John McCain.

Trump hated McCain, I don’t think he cares at all, because if Trump did, he wouldn’t have said what he said and done what he did the other day, so on Trump’s end that was a swipe back at him.

I like Presidents who AREN’T banned from funerals! RIP John McCain.

Lol, the left, too, too funny. The same people on this site and in the media and in Washington that vilified, mocked, called McCain a racist, the left aligned him with the KKK and got on him when David Duke announced he supported the late senator. They constantly ridiculed him about his age, spread rumors he fathered a Black child, McCain was a hawk believed in building our military and keeping up troop presence in Iraq and Syria everything the left hated. But after McCain scorned Trump, the left made a total about face. Now the left adore him as if he was one of their own. The hypocrisy is so off the charts with these people.

The highway signs in AZ read, "Country First. Rest in Peace John McCain."

That's an important point to make. The GOP turned on him when he didn't deliver a policital win on bad policy, to cripple Obamacare.

Yup. And that's why trying to justify Trump's pettiness on McCain with the fact that he hates McCain is so pathetic. The good of the country must always come before a politician's personal feelings. I often disagreed with McCain, but he understood that. He made mistakes, but I truly believe he thought he was doing his best to serve his country. Trump shows us every day that he doesn't understand that, that indeed, he doesn't understand putting anyone's good ahead of his own personal good.

Trump has never sacrificed a day in his life for anyone else. That's what makes the fanatics who are so willing to sacrifice their dignity to support him so disturbing.

Anonymous, that says it all.

That he had a "hell of a lot of fights" with. Neglected to mention that second bit, didn't you.

Oh, please! The left never liked him, they loathed him, I still remember the hate and barrage of nasty attacks against McCain and yes, many Republicans were frustrated with McCain because he called himself a Republican on one hand, but on so many of the issues the man sided with Democrats, so of course they cheered any Republican that walks off the reservation. As for Obamacare, the man never liked it and he wanted to see it repealed and replaced, but his hatred of Trump was so great that she would rather have Trump not have a win and for sake the very constituents that supported he as for Obamacare, the man never liked it and he wanted to see it repealed and replaced, but his hatred of Trump was so great that he would rather have Trump not have a win and forsake the very constituents that supported him. That was not one of McCain’s finer moments at all.

Yup. And that's why trying to justify Trump's pettiness on McCain with the fact that he hates McCain is so pathetic.

That goes both ways and seeing that with Obamacare was clearly evident.

The good of the country must always come before a politician's personal feelings.

Sadly, even a man like McCain didn’t follow his own words.

I often disagreed with McCain, but he understood that. He made mistakes, but I truly believe he thought he was doing his best to serve his country. Trump shows us every day that he doesn't understand that, that indeed, he doesn't understand putting anyone's good ahead of his own personal good.

I think that’s more or less a difference of opinions, I think Trump is the best when it comes to doing what Washington says they want to do, but never do. And with the constant attacks on the President, he doesn’t waver and does what he can to keep his promises and that’s something Washington is not known for.

Trump has never sacrificed a day in his life for anyone else. That's what makes the fanatics who are so willing to sacrifice their dignity to support him so disturbing.

Most Politicians don’t this is and this is not an isolated situation regulated only to Trump, Literally almost every politician that has done the same, they are are selfish to a certain degree.

Bass,

Exactly. The lefties despised McCain but because he squabbled with Trump hes now enshrined as their darling. Total hypocrisy as usual.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

McCain was too classy and honorable to align himself with Trump, a proven scammer and known liar.

Trump fans are just degrading themselves. Don't let them fool you with attacks on Democrats. Their real passion is dragging a war hero through the mud to service Trump.

@simon That he had a "hell of a lot of fights" with. Neglected to mention that second bit, didn't you.

@Cochise's RT sources might not have provided him (and his various iterations) that. If you read RT, you'll notice where a lot of the anti-McCain verbiage comes from.

I have never supported McCain politically, but I'd still rather see him in politics than the traitor-in-chief, Mitch McConnell and their ilk.

“... a true American hero.” How American and unintentionally ironic your statement is.

Like JFK, John McCain had an excellent spin doctor as co-author for his autobiography.

McCain seems to have ignored, or forgotten, warnings from superiors about how to approach a heavily defended (primarily with AAA) target near Hanoi and as a consuquence was shot down. To some degree he cooperated with his interrogators. Given that he was badly injured on ejecting from his plane, that cooperation may be understandable. His refusal to be released earlier than other fliers is indeed praiseworthy. But, he did get himself into the mess and that demanded fixing.

JFK’s loss of the PT-109 through negligence should have led to being cashiered out of the navy. As his father was the former American Ambassador to the UK and ambitious for his son’s post-war political future, that could not be allowed to happen hence the story of his (truly) heroic rescue of his crew. If he had done his job, they wouldn’t have needed rescue.

The experiences of these two icons are remarkably similar.

But, as men, R.I.P..

Do not judge these 2 men like that. You were not in their situations and in war it is always a crapshoot. Anything wrong can happen. Sometimes you get a 7 or 11, sometimes snake eyes or boxcars. When JFK and McCain got into their bad funk situations they used their survival skills they were trained in so they could survive. JFK lost his PT boat not thru negligence. And John McCain was shot down by the North Vietnamese. He had an unlucky day. Get your facts straight.

McCain was too classy and honorable to align himself with Trump

Oh, please. Just read about McCain outside the coordinated corporate media tripe. McCain was a nasty piece of work, and many of the things I could recount here would get my post deleted. He was a man who abused and insulted his wives, sang "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran," continued to call Vietnamese by a racial slur, never met a war he didn't like.... He was a narcissistic and destructive politician.

Now, because he dies and was an enemy of Trump, he's classy and honorable? Here's one example of how classy he was: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/07/report-mccains-profane-ti_n_95429.html

People need to go watch what Biden said about his "brother" at the 2008 democrat convention. The guy's a backstabbing hypocrite.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

Bill Murphy, you are correct.

Starpunk, I suggest you do some research and look at the facts.

Commanteer, Texas A, Exactly.

The sudden deification of McCain by the left would be humorous were it not so blatantly hypocritical.

Haven't seen much "deification" going on. On the other hand there do seem to be a lot of people who didn't care a lot for McCain's politics or think he made a lot of mistakes but give him credit for opposing Donald Trump. Facts don't go very well with hyperbole though, do they.

Oh, please. Just read about McCain outside...

It doesn't take a whole lot of class or honour to make a decision like that. A lot of the people who have associated themselves with Trump seem to be holding their noses while doing so.

McCain was definitely a war hero, classy, that’s debatable and subjective, but he most definitely deserves the honor he’s receiving. McCain had a lot of flaws, he really can’t point the finger at Trump, the man claimed Trump is petty, but he tried to stick it to Trump all the way until his last breath, now who’s petty?

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Trump is petty, especially when he degrades POWs. Just like bass would do.

Petty?

Try tweeting about a sex tape that does not exist in order to score points in a cat fight with a beauty queen on Twitter.

What a childish, petty specimen.

The bone spurs prevented him lowering the tone.

Pathetic.

http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/404220-palin-not-invited-to-mccain-funeral-services-report

Sarah Palin, former running mate of songbird McCain wasn't even invited to the upcoming funeral. This just shows the focal point of harshness of the elitist preeminence, self-importance, and bitter hatred borne inside the heart of the entire McCain clan.

As a former Navy Seal, I respect his services but never fancy the old man as he wasn't anything special to me. At least to me and my circle of military comrades. We thought he was and still is overrated in so many ways. He was not a nice old man. But with that said, as a fellow human being... RIP John.

More degrading of the sacrifices our troops have made.

Sarah Palin, former running mate of songbird McCain wasn't even invited to the upcoming funeral.

Why should he? Her absolute arrogance, pettiness, being a loudmouth attention whore, a religious fanatic, a bimbo, trying to ride John's coattails and then lambasting him and her unbelievably total stupidity is what scotched McCain's chances of becoming POTUS. Fortunately, he and the winner Barack Obama became fast friends and shared admiration together. Sarah kept running her big mouth and became a darling to the wingnut types because of her looks - not her intelligence. John McCain was a smart man who made a mistake - making the **super-stupid** idiot Sarah Palin his VP running mate.

GHWB in his memoirs said of VP 'My God! What was I thinking?!!'. We all make dumb errors in life.

LET HIM. He'd make a better President than Benedict Donald, without a doubt. Biden has been VP for 8 years so he must have learned something from standing as Obama's right hand man. I hope so anyway. Then again, Obama's big fat memoir book hasn't been completed or released yet, has it?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

starpunk, Oh, Obama's "memoirs" are coming - count on it. Big money to be had.
