It seems to me that Mr. Smollett would be best served by keeping a low profile and putting this disaster behind him. Counter suits against the city are only going to remind the public more why they don't trust him, because in all honesty nothing he said about that evening withstands even basic scrutiny. His story just doesn't add up and never has.

Falsifying a hate crime to boost one's fame or whatever does a huge disservice to those people who are actual victims of hate crimes.

Sometimes, bad PR merely reinforces the stains of an already tarnished reputation. This is going to be one of those times for Mr. Smollett.
