McConnell and wife both live and have long lived lives of luxury, paid for primarily by taxpayers. They have the best healthcare in the world. Paid by taxpayers. They have used their government positions to further increase their personal fortunes and those of family members. Just like Mitch's master Trump.

Mitch is completely out of touch with his constituents, with the exception of his state's 'elite' and the 'foreign' 'elite' he's used his office to help.

Suddenly Moscow Mitch is worried about fiscal responsibility? Sure. He’s a swamp creature of the highest order and it’s clear he’s comfortable with Donny having turned the swamp into a cesspool.

Yes, true, however those funds could also be used to pay for garbage collection, police services, road traffic signal maintenance and a host of other expenditures that a State has.

Investor? Not citizens, people, folks, taxpayers, retirees, but investors.

So one of the functions of a state government is to keep investors satisfied. That idea is new to me.

The response to the pandemic, the greatest failure of the American government in our long history, cannot just be blamed solely on our psychologically damaged President. The whole Republican party is complicit in this debacle that has killed tens of thousands and will continue to do so. As long as there is any Republican, in any office, local, state or national, our country is at peril. Start with McConnell but remove them all. Let them live in the infamy they have brought on themselves.

States spend most of their money on local contractors. While bankruptcy would allow states to cancel payments for work already done, it would throw these contractors out of business. These companies are the only who know the ins and outs of the infrastructure, so if they're thrown under the bus, ain't nobody gonna replace them.

I agree. The minority of the country listening to Alex Jones, social media influencers (US and 'foreign), telescamgelists, Trump and his media minions among dozens of others pushing far right agendas are getting louder.

Fortunately the majority of the country tolerate them (still a democracy, after all) and are able to tune them out.

It will be interesting to watch whether the yahoos claiming it's their right to get and pass the virus on to their fellow citizens turn even more people against McConnell, Trump etal.

Its been up to the states for years to take care of their infrastructure and other states needs. The Feds are too busy funding agencies, medicare and defense.

While I can't speak for any states other than the one that's worst in the nation... Our problems started under Gov. Jim Edgar (R), and have been a can kicked down the road by every governor since, republican or democrat. Not a democrat myself, but if you don't have the facts you should be careful about what you spout. In Illinois they're all crooked, and I fully agree with a governor getting 2 terms. 1 in office and 1 in prison. Republican or democrat be damned. Past time for the entire US to embrace a 3rd or 4th party option. Look where only having 2 parties got us? Trump... (drops mic)

My desire is to get some adults into politics who can run a 5% surplus at all levels of govt, including the US Federal govt, always. By law, if necessary. Then pay off all outstanding debt and build up an emergency fund that is properly managed by professionals to help US companies based on very long term govt priorities, like switching from petroleum-based fuels, non-recyclable packaging (including things that claim to be recyclable, but actually cannot), and to encourage "happiness" for the total legal population.

But rest assured it will be re-played throughout the election, along with Trump's inadequate oversight of the virus, along with his many 'misinformations', along with his undermining environmental regulations to benefit his fellow 'elite', along with his gutting worker and consumer protections to benefit his fellow elite, along with how he's dividing up moneys to benefit his family and fellow elite, and so many others.

I don't expect the hard core 35% (aka American fundies, some even long bearded) to budge from their support for Trump. The rest will think America First; we're tired of Trump, his family and fellow elite getting things first and us getting only trickled down on.

Makes sense. Why would he continue to fund these States where the medical officials said, the curves are flattening and it seems that certain States can re-open certain sectors of the country and job industries. How long do Democrats think the money will last? I know they hate work, but this can’t go one forever and the pushback is getting louder. Again, this helps Trump and McConnell.
