N Korea says missile tested warhead guidance; ready for deployment

Sorry, I have no faith in the ability to "zapp" NK's missile launching capability. It sounds good on paper, and counter battery fire does work against artillery or mortars that are harder to get out of the return fire.

In truth, NK will be able to launch missiles at will. Counter battery fire systems may not help because they would be destroying one use systems, assuming they can get off the return fire in time.

I recall the scud hunts during the Iraq war. It sounded simple then with the Iraqi air defense grid broken. The U.S. had patrols of F15s looking for scuds, but they were usually unsuccessful. One supposed successful raid ended up bombing a bunch of trucks.

The Iraqi scuds effectively targeted both Israel population centers and U.S. military bases in Saudi Arabia throughout the war. However, in most cases, the news reported the missiles as missing their target to not allow the Iraqis to adjust their fire. The worst for the U.S. was when a scud hit a mess hall full of people.

The scuds were not effective on a strategic or tactical basis, but they caused a lot of concern because of the possibility of NBC (nuclear, biological or chemical weapons). Yes, the things we should worry about with NK.

A war with NK will not be a free lunch.

He's still testing singles. Next stage must be mass production, if the economy will ever support it. Orders from abroad?

On the other hand, I did see a documentary showing NKoreans are starting to get fed up and are not swallowing the cult propaganda that surrounds him. 

Unfortunately, we don't get to see much of what is really happening inside North Korea. I read recently an interview with a young North Korean guy who had escaped. He described his life in a city outside Pyongyang. Basically poverty, crime, and gangs. In other words, much the same as impoverished cities anywhere. It may have been propaganda, but it sounded believable. Let's hope it all breaks down gently.

A  starving army is the most dangerous one! The North Korean special forces has a contingent of 200000plus at peace time. If Trump attempt to liquidate KJ and that fail the consequences in ROK will be fatal especially foreigners, they have higher value to bargain if captured by NK!

Having lied through their teeth for years and years about their nuclear missile, er... 'rocket-and-satellite' program, they have now switched tactics to admitting it openly. Expediency rules!

This is really pushing it.  One day NK is going to go too far and Fat Boy might get a rude awakening.  On the other hand, I did see a documentary showing NKoreans are starting to get fed up and are not swallowing the cult propaganda that surrounds him.  Maybe with a little bit of help he can be overthrown.

They already ARE being held hostage. Any military attempt to stop their goal of nuking the United States means Seoul will be destroyed.

Just let the North fire all their missiles till nothing is left. Let's see then...

If I was KJU, I would remember what happened to Sadami and Gaddafi. If attacked, it would be wise to send every missile in stock at Japan and SouthKoreas NPPs, and every American base. Sea based Argis missile system can only stop two missiles at a time.if 1000 were launched simultaneously, there would be no winners.

he's reached the stage almost where we can't win, so we should surrender of sorts. take off all the sanctions and stop this madness.

When dealing with fools one never can tell the end result especially a loose cannon like Kim.

One of two things will happen now.....the US will focus on rapid new defense against incoming missiles programs. Or the US will be FORCED to consider military actions like zapping NK's missile launching and other facilities.

Mattis is wise to refrain from recommending military action at this time because the results would be devastating all around ! But we must realize that the further NK advances the more the world,especially close neighbors will be held hostage to their demands !
