Maybe she was in contact with a bat and had a spontaneous new transfer of the virus.
Luddite
The new mutations appear to require longer quarantine, unless she is the source of the mutation.

Ardern is confident on her systems which have just let in a community transmission.
That’s a dumb thing to say. You can be proud of the record so far relatively speaking, but that you had a case says that there is a problem with your systems..

Well so much for NZ's initial victory. This war is far from over.

It would be great for New Zealand if most of the rest of the world could get their acts together.

OssanAmerica,
New Zealand "confirmed its first case of COVID-19 in the community in months" while America currently has a 7-day average death count of over 3000. More people are dying in the states in one day than NZ has had TOTAL CASES since the start of the pandemic. But yeah, go ahead and criticise New Zealand's response.
Reckless
But to be fair, NZ has no end game except to parasitically rely on US and European researchers and companies to develop and manufacture a vaccine.
fxgai
New Zealand's response has obviously better results than the politicized disaster that the US response has been.
But how can the New Zealand leader say "we have confidence in our systems and processes", when the headline makes it obvious that New Zealand's response isn't perfect. It's been good, yes - but objectively it has to be said that there is room for improvement.

So, so much for that bragging that NZ somehow had solved the problem with their stupid lockdowns.
Just as I said.... those lockdowns do not keep the virus away, unless the politicians really want to imprison entire population and close the borders indefinitely.

Are you comparing a country of 350 million the size of a continent and with thousands of kilometers of open borders with an island nation of 4 million or so? Seriously?
P. Smith
Yeah! Every day the New Zealand PM was bragging about how NZ completely solved the problem. Well, not in reality, but if you say so.
New Zealand on Monday confirmed its first case of COVID-19 in the community in months
Are you seriously trying to imply the US’ response to COVID wasn’t a train wreck?

We could compare an island nation of 4 million with the island state of Hawaii. A population of about 1.5 million, and 25000 cases. How about Alaska? Fewer than one million people, 53000 cases.
