Ike-in-Tokyo, Exceleent posts!
Ike-in-Tokyo-from-89
So who is going to liberate the “oppressed”? Will it be the “oppressed” themselves or others who have appointed themselves the liberators.
I think the latter is more common in history. And the liberators have their own egotistical interests in doing this often to the detriment of those they claim to be helping. (I have the Bolsheviks especially in mind: Lenin despised democracy, had little knowledge of the workers and peasants he was “liberating” and freely dispensed with them.)
Such liberators themselves often feel oppressed by liberal (free) societies which protect the rights of individuals, including free speech because they wrongly believe that freedom means other people must agree with them or get out of the way.
If you want to fail to bring change - constructive change that allows more people to enjoy the benefits of living in a free society - keep on mouthing the tiresome tale of the world being divided into the “oppressors” and “oppressed”.
mukashiyokatta
Once again -- in a democracy where "majority rules," the majority are not getting what they want. Time to put that right.
Toasted Heretic
Wait; what are you saying here? In order to protect democracy you have to destroy it?
That's because you're not paying attention to what's actually happening. Instead you're giving your tacit support to people who march and chant anti-semitic slogans, and murder other protesters. You support the locking up abuse of children. You justify this with whataboutery.
No doubt you will support an end to positive action because you enjoy your privilege and don't know what oppression is like.
I don't think people are going to meekly accept the oppressors anymore.

Family belongs together? Huh don’t make me laugh, we could ship you back right away! lol jk
bass4funk
So has democracy.
Smashing public and private property, beating up people, intimidating people, hiding their identity which in the US is illegal, so causing destruction and mayhem is a noble thing? Huh, I was always taught cowards hide behind masks and intimidation and the destruction of property is beyond me as to why, but I often don’t understand the radical antics of the left.
bass4funk
Yeah, uh-huh, trying to abolish ICE would be like trying to tell Hillary she has a chance at the Presidency.

Except you still can’t prove it. Poor mueller gonna have to find some more “Russians” to indict who won’t actually show up next time. Every single prosecution or sentencing hearing has been delayed, some multiple times.

How do you think fascism starts? Plucking a chicken, one feather at a time. It's astounding some are blind to what's happening & where it could lead.
The antifascism movements have been around for generations. Odd how those who claim to be educated and knowledgeable act like they never heard of resistance to the bigots.
Pretty sure as a refugee and a person who believed in standing up to bigots, he would be on the side of justice and equality.
Blacklabel
Uh no. Just leftists and their overly dramatic hysterics. Good luck with your “abolish ICE” platform in the midterm elections.
bass4funk
What nonsense! Not even close, no one was executed, no one was escorted to the gas chambers. How the left make these outrageous comparisons is just mind blowing astounding.
The Antifa??? Oh, dear lord....

If I were a Trump follower I would be angry at Trump. He showed signs of weakness and he failed at his zero tolerance. That means more illegals can walk all over Trump and make him look like an idiot. If these kids are not reunited with their moms and dads in a timely manner it means more green cards for non whites and lots of them. All on Trump. It's Trump's fault. It's Trump's failure.
kazetsukai
This is an "illegal" entry or "illegal" attempted entry to the USA issue.
It has to do with the process and procedures used in dealing with those are "illegally" at the border or have entered "illegally".
It relates to but NOT a refugee status issue, immigrant status issue, or migrant issue.
There are "legal" ways to to enter the USA for refugees, migrants and immigrants. There are internet US Government sites that explains them all, including the consequences of attempts and of "illegal" entries.
The ethical moral issues that may relate to the issue is a matter of perspective and one's preferences and only invites dissension.
But the fact is we are dealing with "illegals".
We are also not "comparing" with other countries. This is regarding the USA. Other countries live their own ways and do things their own ways and could care less about how we do things, except when they are at a disadvantage.
The protest is but a demonstration of one "perspective" on dealing with children of parents attempting "illegal" entry. The administration and the ICE staff are dealing with that problem. Let them do that and adjust and change as feasible.
Our opinions are only opinions. And so far it has "divided" our nation because of "rhetoric" by our so called political and media leaders.
We can do"better" than that.
nishikat
Then Trump is weak and it signals the "all OK" for more illegals and their kids to come. And if there is a major delay it means more citizenship for non-white illegals. What happened to Trump's zero tolerance? He if failing and more and more illegals will have more confidence of simply walking all over Trump. Once Trump stopped his zero tolerance it gave the illegals and their little kids the green light. They won't take him seriously anymore. And his wall idea is a joke.

Show me any politician who isn't a liar, though Trump has brought it to a level 1000x higher than any politician before (except perhaps some others in NY, Baltimore and Chicago).
Businessmen world-wide learn that is it better to ask forgiveness than permission. That works when making "widgets" or selling a brand, but it doesn't work when the problem is related to the lives of humans or destroying the environment for the next 500 yrs.
President Trump is most definitely a liar with proof of that on almost everything he touches. But he is a terrible liar, since most of his lies are easy to fact check. With him, it is easier to assume any statement is a lie than the truth, sadly.
starpunk
You can't rely on Trump telling the truth or following thru a federal order. He kidnaps thousands of kids and then says he wants to 'detain families together'. About-face, huh? Then why did he do it in the first place? You can't trust him, period. LIAR!
theFu
And when things like this happen the American authorities take these
kids and either return them to their parents or they stay in the USA and
That isn't entirely correct. If their parent are released, then the children are reunited.
Lacking that, if there is a responsible parent that can be found outside the USA, the kids and that parent are reunited.
Lacking that, if there are other relatives in the USA already, legally, and willing to take the children, then that is where they go. President Trump added the checks for relatives being legal inside the USA, which weren't performed previously.
Lacking that, if no responsible family can be found, the children are placed within foster care inside the USA.
The children are handed over the Human Services dept of the federal govt fairly early in the process and ICE/CBP have little to do with them.
Reuniting parents and children found to be in the USA illegally needs to happen outside the USA, IMHO. If they can't be bothered to cross the border legally or request asylum at a controlled border crossing, deport them ASAP and put them onto visa+asylum denied lists. Immigrants who don't respect borders aren't welcome.
nishikat
All the Trump followers are quiet. They realize Trump is going to make more of these illegals Americans than President Hillary would. Logic wins.
nishikat
And when things like this happen the American authorities take these kids and either return them to their parents or they stay in the USA and eventually become citizens. No change under Trump. And if Trump puts up his wall they will just use ladders.
Kuya 808
Maybe not now, but back in 2015 they were. Ever hear of a guy called Aroldo Castillo-Serrano? He was the head of a human trafficking ring doing business during the flood of unaccompanied minors arriving from central america back in '14. His gang falsely presented themselves as family members and quite a few kids were turned over to be held in squalid conditions and used as forced labor on a egg farm in Ohio . Twelve hours a day, seven days a week, for no pay. With threats of physical violence for the slackers.
How did these kids end up in such a dream job? They were put in the care of the very people who smuggled them in, that's how.
starpunk
And why were the sexes separated in the childrens' concentration camps? Given Trump's uncouth opinions on women and his lustful gloating for his daughter it wouldn't surprise me if the girls weren't to 'disappear' into child sex trafficking rings - Trump is a sick pervert and he is trash. And he's already been caught so many times with his hands in criminal activity.
starpunk
Safe from what, traitor Trump? Kidnapping Hispanic children isn't keeping the US safe. Next he'll go after some other group - Muslims, Jews, gays?
Yes it is. Let's not forget that during WWII Japanese-Americans were rounded up too (same with Canada BTW) just because of their ethnicity. Men, women, children. Yet some of these citizens fought in the US Armed Forces against the Axis and they still were treated like trash in America.
Yes. let's just get to the point and come out and say it. Donny il Douche and his stormtroopers have kidnapped thousands of children and these 'detention centers' are concentration camps. Face the facts. Nazi Germany did it, Francoist Spain did it, Fascist Italy did it, fascist Serbia under Milosevic did it in Bosnia, fascist Croatia under Tudjman did it in the 90s too. Concentration camps are concentration camps, simple as that. They are used for illegal detention, mistreatment, abuse, rape and murder. Separating children from their parents will cause great psychological harm to these kids if they survive this ordeal and even though Spanky Don says 'he wants to detain families together', why should anyone believe him? He has proven time and time again that he is not to be trusted. The damage has been done. He has long ago proven his merit and his manhood and maturity which adds up to less than zero.
CaptDingleheimer
The Democrats literally don't know what to do.
They have no answers for any of the problems in this country, other than hyperbolic talking points and chants to wind up the leftward most fringes of their voting block and get some media attention, attention that works against them as it turns off more and more centrists.
They are in a word, SCREWED.
JeffLee
Very few people today die in famines or other forms of starvation compared to years past, when the numbers were considerably higher. Indeed there is less global poverty, unemployment and armed conflict today than before, including in the areas where these migrants come from.
And yet there is now a surge in their numbers, particularly ones with kids in tow. What explains this?: -- a surge in human trafficking operations. As such, the US, or any other country targeted by this heinous organized crime, is obliged to take a stand, rather than shrugging and doing exactly what the peddlers of human chattal want them to do.
Blacklabel
Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., the Deputy Chair of the Democratic National Committee, who in May was photographed at a parade wearing a T-shirt that said, in Spanish, “I don’t believe in borders.”
CaptDingleheimer
An elephant in the room:
How in the hell is it so easy to just waltz right on over the border, kids in tow, in the first place?
Seems like a reason to build a wall to me.
If Japan had a land bridge and was having this problem, I suspect that some of you ardent anti-Trump expats would be singing a very different tune here.
M3M3M3
I'm old enough to remember when the left was concerned with improving the bargaining position and incomes of low wage workers within their existing societies. Today they sneer at most of these people and call them racists and xenophobes while naively trying to solve global poverty through open borders.
Yes, there are hundreds of millions of people around the world who live in unimaginable extreme poverty. But how many do you propose America should take while still respecting democracy, fairness, and economic reality? If you accept that America cannot take everyone, I want you to give us a specific number at which you would grudgingly agree to start turning people away. Let's have a number so we can reach some sort of compromise.
Which treaty? Which article? Let's elevate the discussion by being more specific.
nishikat
ICE just can't let these little children go like they are some worthless pet that no one wants. And if their parents are in prison they have to become American citizens. Thanks Trump!
SuperLib
I’ll be honest when I say that I don’t have the perfect solution. But I will not stand for targeting children to win political concessions.
CaptDingleheimer
These protesters are on the fringe and largely irrelevant, and the Democratic Party is accepting a platform of irrelevance by pandering to them.
We'll see how that works out in November.
nishikat
WRONG
It's unclear how the various government agencies involved in separating families would work to reunite the roughly 2,000 children with their parents by the judge's 30-day deadline, lawyers and advocates said.
(news quote)
"It's unclear"
30 days? The government? No way
Looks like we will have more non-white citizens thanks to Trump. White Trump voters must be very mad. Don't forget it was a Republican (Reagan) who gave out loads of green cards. It will happen with Trump with all those kids he's snatching.
theFu
The govt has been getting families back together as quickly as they can. Too bad they didn't find something useful to protest about.
You cannot, but you can't let them free either. Duh.
SuperLib
If you say so.
Melodrama would be tagging yourself as persecuted because you had to bake a cake.
nishikat
Yes, he did. He started zero tolerance. Now no one knows when these kids will be reunited. That means lots of new non-white American children. It's all on Trump. Each parent will get about 2 years in prison with Trump's strict policy. That means the children (who are innocent) will have to be given American citizenship. How can you imprison a 3-year-old? Looks like Trump will end up giving out lots of greencards.
Dango bong
No they are not. There is no war or government persecution in Honduras, Guatemala or Ecuador stop the melodrama
Dango bong
Trump did not snatch anyone, their irresponsible parents took them across borders illegally. They need to go back to their countries
nishikat
If those children remain separated from their parents Trump will have to give them greencards. That's on Trump. He doesn't want catch and release so he wants to keep them here and eventually they will become citizens.
Fine, that's just not right. But it will result in the kids getting US passports.
SuperLib
Unaccompanied children are placed in detention, then foster care, or with a relative living here already. They arent kept in the care of the people who smuggled them in.
The data shows that a vast majority do show up to their hearings. It’s an undeniable fact. The question is whether we go after all of them because of the worst of them.
Asylum seekers. And the more you talk up the dangerous journey, the more you undercut your claims that these are just people who want a better paying job.

Truth. Far better to spend resources on improving conditions in Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador than to incarcerate those fleeing certain death.

America needs to take care of her own. The problem is illeagal immigrants live, eat and sleep better than 95 percent of U.S. CITIZENS THAT ARE HOMELESS !!

Here's Mexico's immigration laws.
http://humanevents.com/2006/05/08/mexicos-immigration-law-lets-try-it-here-at-home/
Isn't it interesting that countries like Mexico considers illegal immigration and being an illegal alien in THEIR country a felony and subject to deportation and/or imprisonment?
So, why is it okay for them to impose and enforce such laws and policies and not the U.S.?
nishikat
What's this? Focus on making them American citizens like Reagan did (3 million)? Please clarify.
Dango bong
they are illegal aliens and an executive order has already been signed to unite them. can we focus on citizens instead of this nonsense?

I mostly don't agree with you in other articles but right now, you're the only person making sense and speaking with facts. Everyone else, like you mentioned, are just speaking out of rage and emotion and not a simple true fact.

You commit a crime, you're OBVIOUSLY going to be separated from your family. It's simple logic.

No, all of us are not to blame. Those illegally entering a foreign country are to blame. It’s like saying all of use are to blame for shoplifting because we do not have the will to stop all shoplifting. I have travelled to a number of foreign countries and would never dream of doing so illegally or remain illegally. If I were to be caught and deported for doing such a thing I would not be in the slightest bit surprised.
"I was saying we are all to blame when it comes to our past and present design of imagration policies. I'm not saying we are to blame for all human beings that break the law." Maybe you believe the present imagration system and policies are perfect?
The system needs to change and be improved! That still won't fix the root problem but it can resolve some of the problems we argue over. Until each countries governments truly take better care of their citizens, there will always be families that try to come to a better place.
One of the reasons you would never dream of illegally crossing a boarder is because your family doesn't live in squalor with no hope to improve things in your country. Honestly ask yourself, what would you do if you couldn't make enough money to simply feed your family? How long would it take before your legal morality changed to desperation?
plasticmonkey
Send their kids? We're talking about families traveling together, escaping horrific violence and threats of death in their home country, seeking asylum at the border, and then being separated because Jeff Sessions deemed that worthy of prosecution. That's a violation of international treaties on human rights.
Neither of you would ever do this because neither of you have ever faced such hardship and desperation. And neither of you have a shred of empathy.
ThePBot
They should do this in front of his golf clubs.

I'm glad that people are protesting against the separation of children from families.
The sad part is how this has become another divisive issue, us & them, left & right, conservative or liberal. The imagration policies and border issues have been a mess for a long long time and all of us are to blame. But the thing is, all of us have the potential to fix it or at least improve the present system. This will never happen if we keep blaming the other side as the cause, people will always react defensively while to root of the problems never get solved. I certainly don't have all the answers but I'll bet collectively, we CAN create a solution.

I was just in Downtown Los Angeles around where the protests were held and the media were out in full force telling the world how people were marching for miles and miles and so many people came out to lend their voice........Funny thing is the protest was a very lackluster an unorganized event, as there were so few compared to what it looked like on tv that once again the mainstream media blew it with all their bias and dis-honest coverage. Of course, families should be reunited.........but the way the mainstream media force feeds us propaganda just because they don't like the current administration is pretty pathetic.
kyronstavic
Fact is that this has been happening for years and the lefties never uttered a word when it was being done under Obama's presidency. Now that their arch-nemesis is in the WH, what was ignored is now double-plus ungood. Same situation, just that now the left have their Goldstein to shout at, but they forgot to stop at 2 minutes.
And also remember that there is still a legal process for applying to enter the US. Apparently. I have to go through it. I'd expect any other non-US citizen here on JT would have to go through it. So why not all these people now detained or still illegally entering the US? Why should they be allowed to enter the country without going through the proper procedures? For all his faults, at least Trump is trying to address a problem that his haters are happy to perpetuate - if for no other reason than hating him.
So a question for all the open-border types: if a whole lot of people turned up on your front lawn uninvited, or even made their way into your living room without your permission, would you just allow them to stay? Or would you first politely request they leave. And if they refuse, would you forcibly remove them? Serious question.
Goodlucktoyou
Quite funny to read about these things in the Iranian media.
nishikat
Will Trump not reunited these children? That means they have to become American citizens. Trump is failing at his immigration promises. And no wall. Because of Trump's snatching children the US will have more American children.
bass4funk
How about, how could any parent send their child off, some as young as 4 years with a phone number written on their clothes to call a family member and giving their kids birth control for the trek. Who would do such a thing and why does the left support and not condemn it?
Yes.
Yes, good on the protesters to throw these people back into the chaos and allow for open borders. Thank God I’m OC we don’t see this lawlessness.
Toasted Heretic
Who would have thought in the 21st century that people can still argue in favor of prison camps and drugging children, forcing them to take a pledge while incarcerated?
This is sick.
Good on the protesters - keep up the pressure on the gurriers who have ushered in the new fascism.
bass4funk
It’s wrong for the parents to send their kids alone anywhere, let alone a sovereign country, you just don’t do that, giving your child birth control because you know what will happen? Sorry, they’re better off in the detention center than being with these people that take advantage of these innocent children. You need to discourage these people from coming in. If Mexico won’t take people in, then why should we? We have enough problems, you break the law in other countries you can’t be with your kids. The left is just insane
Ok, so catch and release? These people are not going to show up for a hearing, everyone knows that. Wait until this gets to the SC and they rule again in the Presidents favor, the left will once again be crying their eyes out.
Omg! It’s doesn’t work like that. This has become a bureaucratic nightmare and just handing kids out doesn’t fly. You need to make sure the people picking these kids up are who they say they are and not just pawn them off. This is why the left scare me, pure emotion and rage to guide them.
Not true.
https://www.statista.com/topics/3454/illegal-immigration-in-the-united-states/
41,456 kids apprehended last year alone and over 11.1 total since 2014 and now the numbers are slowly rising once again from countries like Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.
11.1 million isn’t a lot? 41,456 isn’t a lot? Oh, the left and math. Smh...
All the more reason to seal that border.
bass4funk
This is what you call, logical, rational thought. Take the emotion, take a deep breath and think.
This is why people are sick and tired of the MSM the liberal media keeps distorting the facts. But don’t take my word, take it from a border patrol agent and watch how a CNN anchor gets owned.

Love the hyperbole. Instead of concentration camps maybe you should call them gulags, or child slavery centers. I bet you think the children are being denied food and water. Maybe you think each child is denied medical care and are kept in solitary confinement. If I believed all that I would be furious as well. But of course they are being well cared for. Just like when the thousands of unaccompanied minors that Obama kept in the same “concentration camps” when they flooded over the southern US border in 2014.
For the Left, facts are irrelevant. The narrative is all that counts. So the Lefts #resistance is ginning up concentration camps and allusions to Hitler to wage political war with the children as their tools of outrage. Now with Dems wanting to eliminate ICE and implement open borders by hook or by crook, I suspect America’s little civil war will get a tad bit warmer.
Ike-in-Tokyo-from-89
You have apparently never opened an illustrated history of WW2, visited Yad Vashem or other Holocaust memorials otherwise you, and others, might not have tossed the words “concentration camps” out so casually. Such usage is loathsome.
”Immigrant” children? No. Children brought to the US border by smugglers, parents or other relatives who then attempted to enter illegally. They are held in such status until their cases are heard. If the Border Patrol and Administration were as brutal as many here suggest, they would have been turned back. In many cases that would mean to die in the desert. (No money in it for the smugglers to take them home.)

Hmmm...never knew having 3 meals a day, TV, video and WiFi access was equal to a concentration camp, but hey, what do I know.
They also have to defend themselves from murders, rapists, drug traffickers and the scorching sun and other dangers that come with the journey and let’s not remember, who sent these kids? The President didn’t tell them to leave their parents. If anyone is to blame it’s the parents that let their kids go and for the life of me, I just don’t understand.
Yes, you are so, so right! I am so with you on that! So when will the Democrats start to support closing the border, end chain migration, end catch and release and end the visa lottery program, end sanctuary cities.

Nah. Let him keep doing it with that puckered mouth of his. Where we are now is still unclear: law says children cannot be held over 20 days, Trump says hold their parents through trial, which could be years in some cases. Glad this was all so well-planned.
