My observation is that Japan sometimes does listen and copy, quietly.

Results in Japan and South Korea are always lower on a Monday due to lack of testing on a Sunday

The number of tests in S. Korea on April 5 was 5,571.
BTW, anybody please let me know where I can get info on the number of tests in Japan? Even I can not find the number of tests at https://www.mhlw.go.jp/stf/houdou/houdou_list_202004.html
