Dang, so the Democrat nominee is gonna be either Biden or Bernie? Really?

 Tulsi Gabbard, a congresswoman from Hawaii with virtually no chance of winning, is the only other remaining Democratic candidate.

Hiiiiiilarious!

They only mention Tulsi now because they have to. I doubt the corona virus was an engineered attack, but I can’t say the same for the Dem nomination results.

Go Bernie!

...in the face of Joe's impeccable record...

Anybody with a dictionary who has taken the trouble to look into geriatric Joe's voting record, his political endorsements and statements would balk at the word "impeccable". Should Joe make it to the end, the only way he could triumph at the urn is if enough people wake up in time to dump the hapless Trump after 4 long, scandalous years of his playing America's jester to the world while doing absolutely nothing for the welfare of the immense majority of the people who voted for him. In short, the orange numpty will likely beat his narcissistic self no matter who opposes him.

The real news on Social Security is Trump saying he will cut entitlements at his recent Town Hall;

At the town hall, Fox News host Martha MacCallum told the president that if "you don't cut something in entitlements, you will never really deal with the debt," and Trump immediately responded.

"Oh, we'll be cutting," he said to the Scranton, Pennsylvania, audience.

BINGO! We knew he and the Repubs would go after Social Security and Medicare - after giving billions in tax breaks to himself and the Top 1%...

Given Biden and Bernie's age and medical condition, I don't think Tulsi's chances are as slim as some might imagine.

What happens if a nominee becomes senile or dies on the campaign trail? How does the Democratic Party choose a new nominee if this happens? What are the rules and final deadlines for changing ballots? The Gabbard campaign might have looked into all this and decided that it's worthwhile remaining until the bitter end.

She's not going to get the delegates necessary to win the nomination.

She's not going to get the delegates necessary to win the nomination.

Of course, but let's say Bernie pulls out in the next few weeks and it's Biden v Gabbard until the convention. Biden then wins the convention will all delegates (except the 2 Tulsi currently has) but withdraws for medical reasons or drops dead in August. Who becomes the nominee?

Apparently the DNC can appoint whoever they want as a replacement (and some conspiracy theorists even believe this is how Hilary Clinton will become the 2020 nominee) since there are no firm rules on this. Should the nominee be the only other person who contested the race fully to the end and received some delegate votes at the convention (Tulsi), or someone who suspended their campaign months earlier but is still more popular with the public, like Sanders or Buttigieg?

I’ve never got this cheerleading for Tulsi Gabbard. From what I’ve seen of her she comes across as pretty bland and the voters clearly see her as a non-entity.

Somebody told me it’s a thing with Joe Rogan fans. Is this right?

She's been on the Joe Rogan podcast a couple of times. As was Yang, and Bernie as well. Listening to these people talk on topics for hours at a time is a lot more informative than the sound-bites taken out of context that their opponents spout.

I listened to both podcasts with Tulsi. And that's why I like her - after hearing her talking about issues for roughly six hours, I see her as the type of person that would make a great president.

I think her support stems mostly from the anti-war movement since she's against regime change wars in the middle-east. Some of the best leaders in history have been pretty bland people who's greatest idea was not getting involved in destructive wars. Unfortunately history tends to see these people as non-entities too.

I’ve never got this cheerleading for Tulsi Gabbard.

She is the ONLY one among the bunch who speaks clearly and correctly about the ME situation and against misguided US warmongering.

That is why she is unacceptable for the swamp, that is why she is getting the Trump treatment from the media, and that is why, like Sanders, she has zero chances.

I think is the first time ever that I actually agree with a comment from Strangerland.

@M3M3M3

I can see what you mean, but I think being bland won’t get you elected in the first place in the current political climate in the US. I can see why her campaign hasn’t caught fire at all. Whatever you think of Trump, Sanders or Biden, you can’t say any them are bland.

I’m not saying this is how it should be but it seems to be how it is.

That is why she is unacceptable for the swamp, that is why she is getting the Trump treatment from the media, and that is why, like Sanders, she has zero chances.

It doesn’t explain why Sanders, vilified by many in the media and by ‘the swamp’, has twice marshaled large support for his candidacy and Gabbard hasn’t even got off the runway, Our resident conspiracy theorists, often fed on a diet of podcasts, constantly tell us how globalists, the establishment and ‘the swamp’ have the pitchforks out for Bernie and yet he is light years ahead of Gabbard in terms of popular support.

I don’t dislike her but her terrible showing among voters can’t be explained away fully by what you posted.

She's not going to get the delegates necessary to win the nomination.

I think there might be two more debates. Unless the DNC changes the rules, which they probably can and will do for New Life Joe Biden, she just might squeak into the debates. This could change things.

@Jimizo

Yes, I understand and fully agree. It's one of the unfortunate realities of electoral politics that doesn't seem to have any clear or simple solution.

Quick wiki search. Interesting career. Sounds OK to me. Funny how the comedians usually seem the smartest bunch in the basket.
