It’s really odd to read posters calling for lockdowns in Australia and New Zealand while also calling for the US to “get back to normal.”

it's because the Aussies and Kiwis know that it's better to be safe than sorry.

In America money talks, not to mention all the unrest and crap from last year.

And in America, to paraphrase Cyndi Lauper, 'Money Changes Everything'. RUSH knows that Big Money is 'that old time religion'.

All the indications are that the Delta variant is very easily spread. You either shut it down quickly or it runs rampant. Personally I would rather they shut it down.

Don't take chances, Japan. Call the Games off NOW!

Isn’t the delta variant the one that arose from the recent wave in India? How did it even get into Australia to begin with?

It was going to spread out to Oz regardless. Everybody, get your vax!

Bondi is a backpacking hub.

Australia is one of the few developed countries to be doing worse than Japan at getting people fully vaccinated.

In Japan, the number is 7%, but in Australia, only 4% are fully vaccinated. In my opinion, those numbers speak volumes about the incompetence of the leaders of the two countries.

If they don't nip this in the bud, more and new variants will inevitably spread

Ya don't want to keep taking those chances - that'd be stupid

When I saw the phrase "double digit" rise, my first thought was 11? Then reading the article, sure enough, it was 11. Laughable.

Lock it down Sydney! Right thing to do.

And where are the mass vaccination centers, setup near the outbreaks?

That's how they canceled polio in India. Contact tracing, quarantine and mass vaccinations anywhere it was found.

"this is perhaps the scariest period that New South Wales is going through"

The virus is something can be tackled by implementing lockdowns and following self discipline as far as wearing masks is concerned.

Amazing how virulent the delta variant is in Australia. Their politicians keep describing it as a scarey new beast . ( I thought It was just a virus) Yet in other countries, like here, they barely check for the variants anyhow, and just continue with what other measures or non measures they do anyhow and amazingly life still goes on.

I agree with McGowan. They should do a hard lockdown to stamp this out since this variant is so much more contagious.

Country led by fear mongering. Ridiculous.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

If they want to lock down every time a new "case" is found, these restrictions on the population will go on forever. But maybe that is what the ruling class wants.

Poor NSW. This is the future.

Scary indeed!!!! Need to tighten up restrictions! Shut stuff down. Otherwise Aussies will start dropping like flies!
