Well, he did slap steel tariffs on trading partners. Maybe this will revitalize US steel manufacturers.

trump needs to shut it up and give it up! He's done nothing good for America and he's acting like a baby. Time for Congress to go over his swelled head.

5 ( +14 / -9 )

Ok there is the compromise. Now Dems cab make a deal and claim he didn’t build a “wall”. Get it done.

Nah, better to just hold the line. This is Trump's shutdown, politically the longer it holds, the worse he looks.

The democrats should only compromise as long as there is no, or very little increase, in the funding for the wall

10 ( +15 / -5 )

trump needs to shut it up and give it up! He's done nothing good for America and he's acting like a baby. Time for Congress to go over his swelled head.

Actually, it's the complete opposite of your statement. He has done a large percent of what he said he would do if elected President. He has been one of the few Presidents in my lifetime that has done what he said he would do. Like it or not.

-9 ( +9 / -18 )

Don’t give in Trump- make Dems do their job - provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare.

Well said! Stay the course President Trump!

-8 ( +8 / -16 )

Hang on, he's only after saying he won't compromise but now it's a compromise on the wall and the dreamers?

This tyrant is inconsistent and a liar. He wants to turn your country into a medieval fifedom.

7 ( +15 / -8 )

So Mexico won’t pay for the ‘fence’ then?

10 ( +16 / -6 )

So Mexico won’t pay for the ‘fence’ then?

So the promise was that Mexico would pay for a wall, which has now become America will pay for a fence.

The snake-oil salesman strikes again!

11 ( +18 / -7 )

This whole thing would be HILARIOUS if it wasn't so damned pathetic & so many people hung out to dry by trump, what an embarrassment to mankind!!

7 ( +13 / -6 )

Its sad the only way Dems can “ win” now is to keep the shutdown going to make Trump look bad? Getting less and less about the security of America every day.

-12 ( +5 / -17 )

We have traded you that Mexico won’t pay for the wall-fence for the fact that we couldn’t keep our doctor. So we are even.

So it’s a “fence” now which Dems previously voted for and Mexico won’t pay for it. So let’s get it built.

-8 ( +7 / -15 )

Trump kept his promise to run government like he runs his businesses. Bankrupt them, shut them down, don't pay the workers. Sad.

The Dems must not cave to Trump’s demands. Can you imagine the precedent it would set if they did? Using the shutdown as a bargaining chip - essentially holding the American people hostage - would only embolden Trump further. He needs to be held accountable for his criminal acts.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

Trump:  "I'll build a beautiful concrete wall - pre-cast concrete..."

Well, that went the way of "Mexico will pay for the wall"....

Wonder what Ingram, Malkin and Limbaugh (Trump's spine) will have to say about this.

And talk about silliness, this is what you get from within Trump's administration...

https://fox17online.com/2018/12/31/trump-says-concrete-wall-was-never-abandoned/

And all the while, the "Trump Shutdown" continues to endanger our country by not funding TSA or the Coast Guard.

Republicans need to change their name from GOP to GOB - Guardians of Open Borders....

6 ( +8 / -2 )

how about another shrubbery?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Its sad the only way Dems can “ win” now is to keep the shutdown going to make Trump look bad?

And he's looking real bad - glad you realize that...

Getting less and less about the security of America every day.

Says the guy who supports Trump not signing a funding bill that could open government, and pay TSA and Coast Guard right now, and continue negotiations for another 30 days - McConnell and Trump:  "No"...

We have traded you that Mexico won’t pay for the wall-fence for the fact that we couldn’t keep our doctor. So we are even.

Not even close - Obama: 1, Trump:  6781 and counting...

So it’s a “fence” now which Dems previously voted for and Mexico won’t pay for it. So let’s get it built.

Comprehensive border security versus a symbolic fence - and remember "Mexico will pay for the wall - mark my words"...   We marked them - just like everything that comes out of Trump's mouth - as a lie...

12 ( +13 / -1 )

You've gotta hand it to Trump when it comes to being very consistent in one way.

He's caves in and warms up to dictators and tyrants, but he's tough as nails with Joe Shmoe.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

himself (Pence), Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer - were the ones who could solve it quickly.

Uh ... wouldn't Trump and McConnell also be principle players? And whatever happened to McConnell? He's crawled some rock since the shutdown began. Any agreement will require McConnell, the Senate leader, and GOP senators to pass. The Trump administration putting the onus entirely on the Dems is too cute.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Uh ... wouldn't Trump and McConnell also be principle players? And whatever happened to McConnell? He's crawled some rock since the shutdown began. Any agreement will require McConnell, the Senate leader, and GOP senators to pass. The Trump administration putting the onus entirely on the Dems is too cute.

Absolutely true - and a contradiction of what he said in 2013...

Trump also said that further down in history "when they talk about the government shutdown, they’re going to be talking about the president of the United States, who the president was at that time. They’re not going to be talking about who was the head of the House, the head the Senate, who’s running things in Washington. So I really think the pressure is on the president."

Yes Mr President, as you stated very clearly above, and previously said "I'll accept responsibility" for, this is the "Trump Shutdown"...the one making our country significantly more unsafe...

6 ( +7 / -1 )

So Mexico won’t pay for the ‘fence’ then?

Was never going to happen, despite all the sloganeering and deluded promises. As ever, if the monstrosity goes ahead that is, it will be financed by the tax-payer.

Trump claims the unpaid workers are behind him on the wall. There's zero evidence for this, of course. Maybe he meant they'd like him to be behind a wall. Or 4.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Uh ... wouldn't Trump and McConnell also be principle players? And whatever happened to McConnell?

Trump and McConnell cannot do anything until Pelosi decides to at least meet the Republicans half way on the fence money. Can’t negotiate with Pelosi if she isn’t willing to compromise at all.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

The “wall” was originally an idea cooked up by campaign clowns Roger Stone and Sam Nunberg in 2016 as an easy-to-remember way for Trump to emphasize the immigration issue. This meme then got spun out of control by Trump who embellished on it by making the wall a specific concrete wall 50 feet high that would be paid for by Mexico. It’s absolutely ridiculous that the U.S. government has to shut down for the sake of a poorly thought out campaign promise. Absurd.

It's all so creepy to watch. Sarah Sanders just keeps trying to dodge and intentionally mislead and Wallace just keeps dragging her back on point.

You can see how they construct the lies: "4,000 known or suspected terrorists come into our country illegally and we know that our most vulnerable point of entry is at our southern border." Wallace tells her that all of those people were caught at airports, zero on the border. But obviously Sanders would already know that and she's mixing and matching facts to manufacture fear. Terrorists coming, the southern border is vulnerable, be afraid.

It's sad that they have to completely overstate to the point of disinformation.

Wallace also hammers her over the fact that they could pass a spending bill not including the border security issue and put Americans back to work again, but if Trump did that he would lose leverage, meaning they are hostages.

Fox News' Chris Wallace Shuts Down Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ Claim About Terrorists Crossing Border

https://www.thedailybeast.com/fox-news-chris-wallace-shuts-down-sarah-huckabee-sanders-claim-about-terrorists-crossing-border?via=twitter_page

But Sanders doubled down, saying, “We know that roughly, nearly 4,000 known or suspected terrorists come into our country illegally and we know that our most vulnerable point of entry is at our southern border.”

“Wait, wait, wait,” Wallace said, stopping her there. “Do you know where those 4,000 people come—where they are captured? Airports.”

As Sanders replied, “Not always,” Wallace interjected and repeated, “Airports,” adding,“The state department says there hasn’t been any terrorists that they’ve found coming across the southern border with Mexico,” Wallace said.

“It’s by air, it’s by land, it’s by sea, it’s all of the above,” Sanders added, “but one thing that you’re forgetting is at the most vulnerable point of entry that we have into this country is our southern border. And we have to protect it.”

“But they’re not coming across the southern border, Sarah, they’re coming and they’re being stopped at airports,” Wallace said once again.

Ultimately, Sanders told him, “I’m not disagreeing with you that they’re coming through airports,” before pivoting to say, “the more and more that our border becomes vulnerable and the less and less that we spend time and money protecting it, the more that we’re going to have an influx, not just of terrorists, but of human traffickers, drug inflow and people who are coming here to do American citizens harm.”

Keep the populace terrified, the tried and tested methods of a dictatorship. Meanwhile, the country is being harmed not by migrants but by Trump and his unhinged policies. Journalists who try to make sense of the madness are villified.

Can’t negotiate with Pelosi if she isn’t willing to compromise at all.

Good point, Wolf. Pelosi figures if she gives an inch, Trump will take a mile - and she's probably correct. Compromising on some useless fencing is only feeding the troll. He'd only hold the government hostage again over some other chicanery.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

It's wonderful that he is trying to end the stalemate. Nancy and Chuck will lose in the long run.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

On Friday, Trump threatened the nuclear option, of declaring a 'national emergency' in order to get his 'wall.'

And he's more than once showed that he's going to stomp his feet and demand his $5 Billion.

Well, Cadet Bonespurs, like Syria, like Mexico paying for the wall, like claiming it'd be a 50 foot tall concrete wall, and more...

do it. Go ahead and show us that you can do it.

Stop selling wolf tickets, stop barking.

Because so far, you're showing yourself to being just a barking coward, a pathetic, immature manchild.

So stop singin' it, just bring it.

But you won't... because you're a coward.

Move to New York or Chicago or San Francisco if you want to live under a socialist dictator who rules by force.

This statement has no basis in reality.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Hi, Chipstar !

It has a BIG basis in reality. We lose the "right" to use plastic bags and straws through oppressive government. Decisions are made without using the process that gives the people a voice. Trump is trying to follow that important process, but he is being blocked by oppressive elements. 5 or 10 people decided that nobody in L.A. can use a plastic bag at the supermarket. We are lucky that Trump respects the system.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

"Don't look at the Russia scandals, don't look at the sex scandals, don't look at the money laundering scandals, don't look at the scandals surrounding my family and my associates, look at this other bright, shiny object, the government shut-down!!! Isn't it pretty?"

7 ( +8 / -1 )

To the quandary of all the binary "Lib and Dem" thinkers out there, even Republicans think Trump loses...

‘This shutdown will end with Trump capitulating on the wall’

Rick Wilson is a Republican political strategist.

This shutdown will end with Trump capitulating on the wall. The White House hasn’t felt any of the pain and chaos from it yet, and the pressures that come with 800,000 federal employees sitting home without pay will rise and rise. Trump’s disregard for federal workers is one thing; the damage will ramify across the economy and the political sphere as this game drags out.

The only hope the White House has right now is that Schumer blinks, though it looks like the Democrats have the political will to hold the line. They’d be fools not to; this is a massive, singular issue on which Trump bet 100 percent of his credibility. He put his head on the chopping block and handed Pelosi the ax.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

The "shut down" only effects 3 big departments and has last for 8 or 9 business days. If workers are paid monthly then none of them have missed a pay check. It is so strange that Nancy and Chuck favor unlimited money to start a war in Syria, but 0 to clearly define a border.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Trump offered a compromise, so where is the Dem compromise?

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Trump's utterances have no meaning. About that Syrian withdrawal,

President Trump’s national security adviser sought to reassure allies Sunday that the United States would be methodical about withdrawing troops from Syria, promising that the pullout would not occur until the Islamic State was fully eradicated from the country and Turkey could guarantee the safety of Kurdish fighters….“There are objectives that we want to accomplish that condition the withdrawal,” Bolton said while speaking to reporters in Jerusalem, on a trip intended to allay Israeli leaders’ concerns about Trump’s announcement. “The timetable flows from the policy decisions that we need to implement.”

In other words, Trump has already capitulated. Just as he will capitulate on the wall. Trump cannot be trusted.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

The only thing I do applauds Uncle Trump is his iron will of shut down the US government as long as it takes to blackmail for funds! That is his finest hours! America is great again when shut down becomes usual!  Bring it on Uncle Trump, you have my support!

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Hold the line! Never give in, never surrender.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Uncle Trump will declare a state of emergency in a few days! Well done, too happy to see this!

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Hold the line! Never give in, never surrender.

He already has surrendered...

"Mexico will pay for the wall - mark my words"...

"It will be a beautiful pre-cast concrete wall"

But I agree - "hold the line - never surrender" - the Captain goes down with the ship...

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Yep, liberals will say “he can’t proclaim a national emergency!” Ummm yes he can, and a Hawaii judge can’t stop it.

You guys just can’t get over that we are so far beyond who is paying for it by now.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

He already has surrendered...

No, the government is still shut.

But I agree - "hold the line - never surrender" - the Captain goes down with the ship...

Democrats would sneak on the boat with the women and children.

Trump just keeps on winning doesn't he. Mexico has paid $ 5 billion, the border wall is built, trade war with China won, ISIS is begging Trump for mercy.........

5 or 10 people decided that nobody in L.A. can use a plastic bag at the supermarket.

Terrible, its like a plastic bag genocide out there.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

You guys just can’t get over that we are so far beyond who is paying for it by now.

So... you just figured out that the moron-in-chief was full of it when he said Mexico would pay for it? Good for you that you got over it.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The WP isn't a reliable source. It has a very well documented anti-Trump bias. It is just another conservative trash rag that ignores the facts.

I figured someone would say that. You'll notice this is a direct quote from Bolton. Breitbart could publish it and the contents wouldn't change. This is precisely the problem with this administration: Trump will say something, his aides will walk it back, and then he'll say it again. There is no authority with which to negotiate.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Don’t care who pays for it. I want to stop opening the news and seeing illegals trying to climb into our country and want to stop seeing funerals of Americans murdered by illegals. That’s not too much to ask to spend 0.1% of our budget towards.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Trump is proud of his Trump shutdown, as he told the whole world. His story is changing so rapidly that it's hard to keep track, but it sounds like he is moving towards the Democrats' reasonable position of repairing, replacing and reinforcing the fence/wall where that makes sense, and even to consider new sections of wall/fence if that were to make sense as well. Though, the fact that new sections have never been considered up to now suggests that they are not needed and wouldn't be effective. Trump will cave as always due to his zero negotiating skills and low IQ. As for Mexico paying anything, that was always a silly joke that nobody with a brain believed.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Our Southern Border is now Secure and will remain that way.......

—Trump, December 11, 2018

Much of the Wall has already been fully renovated or built. We have done a lot of work.

—Trump, January 2, 2019

This guy is all over the place. Secure or national emergency? Concrete or steel? Wall or fence? Mexico or US taxpayers?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

This is precisely the problem with this administration: Trump will say something, his aides will walk it back, and then he'll say it again. There is no authority with which to negotiate.

So pretty much like the last administration and Democrats in general you’re saying...well, I do understand.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

What need to be done is to streamline immigration process. Then the walls will not be necessary. Get more immigration officers and open more immigration centers for immigrants. Trump is putting money in the wrong place for wrong reasons.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

So pretty much like the last administration and Democrats in general

So you admit that your man Trump is as inept as the reviled Obama. Why’d you vote for Trump, then? Because he “tells libs to shut up”?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Don’t care who pays for it.

Of course you don’t. And good that you’ve caught up with the rest of us in

I want to stop opening the news and seeing illegals trying to climb into our country and want to stop seeing funerals of Americans murdered by illegals.

So, moving on. Remember when you bought Trump’s bs about Mexico going to pay for the wall (yes, that was silly wasn’t it) ? , Well here’s another one for you, Trump was also BSIng you about other things! surprising huh.. the wall idea, not based on any kind of analysis, study before he pitched it (that’s why he doesn’t much care now if it’s concrete or steel or cardboard, frankly). His political advisers just thought it would be a helpful metaphor for someone of Trump’s er.., lack of message discipline. I know! Shocker! Etc. it just plays well. This crisis... manufactured! I know... was it last month he said the border was secure and wall construction was progressing... then, Coulter and Hannity.

I like the compromise idea . Let’s game it together. Trump can have a billion dollars for each of the following toward the full amount for the wall

some ideas...

he releases 15 years of tax records and kills his twitter account

he agrees to increase spending to reinforce security and throughput at US ports of entry

reverses his ban on transgenders in the military

promise not to pardon anyone, ever

kisses Pelosi’s

...

any other ideas

4 ( +4 / -0 )

To the anti-wallers who say high tech alarm systems would do the job - all that does is tell you someone has breached the border. Even if you catch them, then you have deal with them, and spend taxpayer money on them. This is irrefutable. But let's watch the anti-wallers try!

Before Trump:

Obama: “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked.”

Hillary Clinton: “I voted, when I was a Senator, to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in.”

And, oh my...

Pay for the damned thing already.  The money is a tiny amount.  Then get on with the business of actually running the country.  So puerile, all these politicians posturing while the people suffer.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I wouldn't call it brass, bass. I'd call it narcissism, pathological lies, racism, sexual assault on women and teens, and overall demagoguery.

I call it brass, bold unrelenting and in your face.

Indeed, but that day hasn't happened yet.

Neither on the liberal side as well.

On a daily basis, yer man will deny Trump's misdemeanours and wrongdoing and repeatedly ask where's the evidence. So the evidence is once more linked up and the cycle begins again.

What evidence?

Every day, of every week, of every month, of every year so far.

The wall is just the ongoing deflection from the real meat of the problem. The man's inept governance, his assaults on democracy and a free press and his inherent hatred for American people who don't fit into his tiny world view.

Ok, that’s your opinion, my opinion is this, the left could care less about border security, they don’t care about sanctuary cities, Democrats are greedy, hate democracy, hate law enforcement, hate ICE, hate the border patrol, this is the thought process of the liberal mind at work.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Pay for the damned thing already. The money is a tiny amount. Then get on with the business of actually running the country. So puerile, all these politicians posturing while the people suffer.

I agree - we need someone to take responsibility and exert some leadership...

I agree with this person's assessment in 2013...

"If you say who gets fired, it always has to be the top. Problems start from the top, and they have to get solved from the top, and the president’s the leader, and he’s got to get everybody in a room, and he’s got to lead. And he doesn’t do that, he doesn’t like doing that, that’s not his strength."

Trump also said that further down in history "when they talk about the government shutdown, they’re going to be talking about the president of the United States, who the president was at that time. They’re not going to be talking about who was the head of the House, the head the Senate, who’s running things in Washington. So I really think the pressure is on the president."

The answer to that question is simple: The narrower the mind, the broader the statement.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

hate democracy,

hate law enforcement

Democrats NEVER liked the military to begin with.

Trump...also do you generalize and stereotype much?

No, I’m just disappointed that liberals think having Open borders and a chaotic sanctuary state into subject illegal immigrants too harsh democrat disastrous policies is the way to go.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Trump's negotiation skills are amazing, I am sure he will get the Democrats to agree to a wall made out of thin air in no time. Everybody wins.

Boy am I glad we have such a fine deal making President!!

And was that a Freudian slip - "other vermin" as in your President's "Mexico isn't sending their best"?

otherworldlyToday 07:45 am JST

Actually, it's the complete opposite of your statement. He has done a large percent of what he said he would do if elected President. He has been one of the few Presidents in my lifetime that has done what he said he would do. Like it or not.

This is it, its also whats really setting the Democrats and their supporters off the fact he is actually honouring his promises while his opposition was hoping different face but same old same old.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

This is it, its also whats really setting the Democrats and their supporters off the fact he is actually honouring his promises  . . .

Really? He had two years to start construction on his wall, and yet nothing happened. Is that keeping a promise? Remember, his party controlled the House, the Senate, had a majority on the Supreme Court, and held a large number of governorships and state legislatures, and yet you are blaming the Democrats (who were in the minority and had very little power) that it's now somehow their fault? Huh? Please explain the logic underlying that conclusion.

Next, he promised that Mexico would pay for it, but now he's forcing the American taxpayers to do it. Is that keeping a promise?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

I have a new nickname for President Trump - Donnie the Caveman...

He's caved on having Mexico pay for the wall...

He's caved on a making the wall "pre-formed concrete"...

And his views toward women are certainly caveman-like...

Maybe the next Trump Resort should be built in Carlsbad Caverns...

1 ( +2 / -1 )

bass4funk: "I have a wall in my backyard and you can scale it, but you might not like the surprise"

So you're whole argument is that walls are effective, and you back this up with, "Well, you can get over my wall, but shucks I'll be waiting with my 24 guns on the other side!". So, you admit walls are ineffective at keeping people out. Well done!

Not surprising, though, and you'll say you MEANT something else, of course. After all, Trump denied yesterday he ever said the wall would be made of cement, which he did, and now he's willing to "compromise" and have it made out of steel instead of cement. But how is that a compromise if he never said it would be made out of cement to begin with? Trump is the biggest moron in US presidential history, and use a big moron to boot. So are his die-hard followers.

So you admit that your man Trump is as inept as the reviled Obama.

I will admit Trump has some brass unlike the inept coward.

Stormy didn't think so...but I agree, Trump is certainly an inept, draft-dodging coward...and we have you on record agreeing with that assessment...

Why’d you vote for Trump, then? Because he “tells libs to shut up”?

Besides him throwing Cannonballs at the establishment, that as well.

Trump's cannonballs are referred to by Republicans as "Friendly Fire"....

Mr. Trump, please do a favor to the world, please resign!!!

Your moronic wall is not a priority! 40,000 people are killed by guns every year, millions of people are suffering and starving being slaves and working for pennies for greedy morons like you!

It's true Trump has done some of what he promised in his campaign.

The problem is that the stuff he promised during his campaign were solutions that a 7-year old would have thought of, not what people who actually understand how the world works would think of. And we still haven't seen the final results of his actions. Like the tax cut, which is going to add a massive amount to the debt. Which will likely come due during the next administration, at which point the 'Pubbies will blame it on that president, instead of the one that actually created that debt. Same as they did when Obama had to pay for Bush's wars. They're still whining about Obama on that one.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

This is it, its also whats really setting the Democrats and their supporters off the fact he is actually honouring his promises while

No, he's not honoring his promise because he's trying to make his supporters pay for the wall and not Mexico.

If you have a picket fence in your half-acre back yard, and you think that's a good reason to have a similar fence over thousands of miles of US border, you might be a Trump supporter...

Thank God.

So you're whole argument is that walls are effective

Yes!

Jesus, calm down...Trump is only agreeing with Chuck and Obama. Personally, whether it’s made of steel, concrete, Kevlar or Adamantium it doesn’t matter. As long as it gets built, the materials don’t really matter as long as it's not straw or wood.

Democrats NEVER liked the military to begin with.

Republicans NEVER liked the military to begin with as evidenced by them getting the military into unnecessary wars.

No, I’m just disappointed that liberals think having Open borders and a chaotic sanctuary state into subject illegal immigrants too harsh democrat disastrous policies is the way to go.

Can someone translate this into intelligible English?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I remember Trump saying he was going to round up all illegals and send them back on top of a temporary ban on all Muslims entering the country on top of building an impenetrable wall which Mexico would pay for.

He certainly talked out of his backside on the issue of security.

Why don’t his supporters hold his feet to the fire?

I’d feel conned.

Stormy didn't think so...

She also didn’t think she would have to cough up cash to pay for the Presidents legal fees. She doesn’t have the money since her creepy porn lawyer flow the coup. So where will she get the.....oh, never mind....

Trump's cannonballs are referred to by Republicans as "Friendly Fire"....raining cluster bombs over the Democrats.

"Really? He had two years to start construction on his wall, and yet nothing happened"

The man has to deal with Democrats and RINOS in addition to what passes for the media. He's not a dictator.

The Democrats just can't live with Trump getting another win. If they don't submit a bill that includes the $5.6 for the wall, he will declare a national emergency and order the military to build it and the Democrats and judges can't stop it.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Republicans NEVER liked the military to begin with as evidenced by them getting the military into unnecessary wars.

And the Democrats hate them because for 8 years they wouldn’t fund, overhaul, improve, allow them to recruit on liberal campuses. Yes, true Democrat love.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Uh, no, Black. No idea which Website you got that from, but it never happened.

If Trump declares a "national emergency" over a declining number of illegal aliens in order to expropriate funding and divert the military - oh, sure. Bring that on. A delicate balance exists now on causes (and reasons) for Trump's impeachment, but this would certainly tip the scales, even amongst many GOPer senators. And Trump knows this. He's just shooting off his mouth again.

And the Democrats hate them because for 8 years they wouldn’t fund,

Fact check yourself.

overhaul, improve, allow them to recruit on liberal campuses.

Fact check yourself.

Yes, true Democrat love.

Trump suppprters are clearly the battered party in an abusive relationship. The more Trump lies to them and cons them, the more they love him.

Trump wants a wall made of 'artistically designed steel slats'.

His level of concern for the migrants moves me to tears. Imagine when the migrants come and see beautiful steel walls instead of concrete , they will immediately head back to their countries. After all who can fight against such beauty.

We have a genius as our president, a real genius!!

Genius and once again my friends a genius!!

Counting the days to the end of the Trump idiocy.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

What evidence?

Myself and many others over the last 2-3 years, have posted links/evidence/citations/quotes and all matter of pointers to Trump's misdemeanours countless times.

Which gets the routine default reply of "the libs".

Again and again and again. It must be well tedious for people who are genuinely interested in current affairs.

There's little point in doing this same old routine every day, don't you think?

Democrats NEVER liked the military to begin with.

Tell that to the souls of the hundreds of thousands of Americans who gave their lives in WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Wilson, Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson—all of them Democrats. Learn some history, my friend.

I wouldn’t characterize the entire GOP like you did the Democrats. Show some respect. We’re talking about Trump, not partisan affiliation.

So here we go, thanks Twitter.

The president can:

1) Declare a national emergency pursuant to 50 USC § 1621

2) Invoke 33 USC § 2293 and 10 USC § 2808 for the specific emergency powers necessary to allocating funding and personnel to build the wall

no judge or Congress can cancel this emergency without a joint resolution that can override a veto.

If Trump capitulates - he will have no chance for re-election. If Pelosi submits to Trump, her party will erupt into rebellion against her. Zero sum politics.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Fact check yourself.

Refused to overhaul, improve, allow them to recruit on liberal campuses.

Yes, true Democrat love.

I did, spot on.

Trump suppprters are clearly the battered party in an abusive relationship. The more Trump lies to them and cons them, the more they love him.

Funny, the Democrats have a speaker older than the President, her sidekick is constantly confused and flip flops constantly, then you have Corey “Spartacus” Booker you have fib telling Blumenthal along with Liz Warren thinking she’s part of a proud NA Nation, you have Bernie Sanders trying to fight charges of sexism, you have Ocasio-Cortez trying to implement and complete socialism, wants to overthrow moderate Democrats like “gaffe machine” Joe Biden, you also have Spliff who is howling at the moon for thinking he smells blood in the waters, facts are irrelevant, just we need to impreach the President.

Not only do the Democrats with this bunch of clowns stumbling all over the place, fighting in and out and as fractured as what now seems to be an hefty intolerance for the truth.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Black, as a husband, father, and dog owner, I've learned the difference between the ability to order something and the ability to implement that order. I'd kind of like to see Trump try - but he won't as he'd have no chance of success and simply make things much worse for himself, and everyone know this. Some great negotiator he is.

Why not just open the rest of the government while they debate about the wall? Pass the funding for the other parts.
