“Stirred up the pot of hatred?” So basically all the rioting between mid May and July of last year was all done peacefully or should I say in the name of peace? Again, Democrats have the smallest margin in the House, one month in, keep it up, 5 Seats is not good going forward.

Love how the media likes to generalize  every Trump supporter as a terrorist.

I've never read nor seen that anywhere. The media report from a full array of perspectives. There are hundreds of different outlets easily accessed on the Internet. Try different sources. And try not to over-generalize.

The far right are terrified.

Watch them squirm and equate the hunt for terrorists with human rights violations.

Brilliant.

They stirred up this pot of hatred and violence and terror. They made the bed, now they must lie in it.

So, the current narrative from the right is that there is no such thing as a Trump supporter. In fact, they are all, and always have been, democrats trying to pretend to be Trump supporters to make Trump supporters look bad. Talk about rubes, there weren't actually any Trump supporters to make look bad!

Raw Beer, next week: I can't believe the Democrats are charging Trump with tax fraud.

Raw Beer, April: Donald Trump was never President. This is a hoax by Democrats to try and tie a criminal to the holy GOP.

Raw Beer, June: I'm glad that Trump, a lifelong Democrat and idol of Obama, is being found guilty of a crime. Democrats must be held to account for their crimes.

Raw Beer, 2024: Donald Trump doesn't exist. He never existed. It's all a Democrat fraud to try and besmirch the character of the GOP nominee, Donald Trump.

Love how the media likes to generalize every Trump supporter as a terrorist. You just can’t sadly make this stuff up and they continue to pound this benign narrative which really and thankfully the majority of Americans don’t believe, even the Trump hating ones are ignoring this garbage.

Scaremongering

What Trump and his R's use to attract America's most fearful, that minority of Americans who arm themselves with weaponry to rival that of police departments, the minority who think people who oppose fascism and object to black people being shot by the police are the real enemy. The same minority who take Republican senator Johnson's word for the Jan 6 insurrection. The Republican senator who ignored the reports from police and instead believed the word of one of Trump's terrorists who attacked the capitol in an attempt to steal the election for Trump. Review Trump's speeches where he points to 'others', almost always non-whites, and rambles on about how 'they' are out to infiltrate the 'suburbs'. Lots of perspectives.

Scaremongering. The belief that somehow "right wing" or "supremacist" hicks are plotting and are even capable of mounting any kind of serious challenge to law and order is a fantasy.

Making a rudimentary bomb is hardly difficult. Explosives have been used as weapons for thousands of years. That the insurrectionists failed hardly means there is no risk. Continuing do nothing is like continuing to smoke, because you haven't gotten cancer yet. I haven't caught cancer yet, no way it could happen, right?

Already the narrative around the riot is unraveling.

All the Republicans are focused on creating a false narrative that the facts around their insurrection are collapsing.

It's transparent.

We should stop them!

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Where have "they stated" this intention? If we are going to be told this is rubbish spouted on social media (like "death threats" and all the other vile nonsense those platforms allow) then I see this as alarmism. I find it almost impossible to believe that anyone in the US wants to do a Guy Fawkes on the Capitol. Already the narrative around the riot is unraveling. Cop died of medical causes. Very few of the losers who rioted were armed with anything lethal. Many of the lawmakers allegedly under threat were actually pretty secure. Etc etc. A little less hysteria would do the whole country some good.

@mocheake I completely agree. But there's more money for big defense industries fighting foreign wars, especially foreign wars fought over oil, gas and their shipments. On that note I'm upset but not surprised Biden's got the US back involved in Syria.

A lot of Americans are just now realizing that while we were busy worrying about communism, the Cold War, the Soviet Union, Hezbollah, al-Qaida, bin-Laden and ISIS, the biggest threat was actually right here in our own yard. I met many of these far-right types in the U.S. military too and some even told me things directly like how their family hated people who didn't look like them. What happened on Jan. 6th was a watershed event and shows just how real this threat has become.

Terrorists will be terrorists , no surprise in that.

What is surprising is the cowardly GOP standing behind the terrorists , the same ones who tried to kill them!!!

Donald Trump supporters who launched a deadly assault on the U.S. Capitol last month have indicated they want to "blow up" the building and kill members of Congress, the acting chief of the Capitol Police said on Thursday.

Some MAGA - blow up our nation's center of democracy...

These pro-Trump far-right militants are nothing but ISIS and Al Qaeda in red MAGA hats carrying Confederate flags...

Treat them as such - arrest every one of them and lock them up - they want to destroy our country and replace it with a theocracy no different than these Islamic fundamentalists - except their Ayatollah is orange and over-weight...

They can't come up with coherent defenses of their far right views beyond shouting 'fake news' whenever something they disagree with is published.

That, and using blatantly obvious code.

It seems the East Asia wing is frustrated that they had one term and blew it.

It goes to show how fascism is always eventually defeated. In whatever guise it re-appears in.

Still. Better to have them merely pressing the button here, than get up to all manner of mischief and disinformation.

That's not to say their brethern back in the US won't attempt more terrorist atrocities.

Everyone needs to be vigilant and not become complacent.

The recent proliferation of down votes on topics like these would indicate that the far right have managed to mobilise themselves to some degree, though.

Yeah, but you'll notice their inability to actually address any of the comments here. In other words, they may be able to organize, but they're not very smart. Just angry.

GOP: It's awful that Democrats are putting up barriers and steel walls outside government buildings.

Normal people: They have to because you tried to overthrow democracy and murder elected officials. Last month.

GOP: Are you STILL talking about that? Can't we focus on real, relevant, recent issues, like Hillary's e-mails?

5 ( +12 / -7 )

The extreme right wing are the greatest terrorist threat to the US, passing Islamic terrorists.

And they murdered people all based on The Big Lie that Trump continues to spread. Look for more incidents in the future.

On a small news outlet in East Asia.

Some furious networking must have been going on to gather a dozen or so disgruntled ex-pats.

Lol.

Biden will have to take decisive action to stop the dangerous nonsense that still holds millions of American voters in thrall, by prosecuting to the full extent of the law ALL those Republican politicians who have played leading roles in disseminating lies about a "stolen election" and "winning by a landslide" in an attempt to nullify the results of a fairly contested presidential election, thus violating their oaths of office, the Constitution and putting the country's democratic system in jeopardy. Their treasonous and perverted acts have turned the GOP into the Gaslighting Orangem*n's Party that has made the USA into the laughingstock of the world!

The alt right Republicans and their global followers believe their Qanon/Rt/Breitbart/Carson/Hannity/Alex Jones sources, not the police who were there being violently attacked and not the US intelligence agencies.

Indeed.

They're also not very clever, posting their plans and deeds online for the entire world to see.

One is reminded of comments here saying that the Democrats better watch out, that if anything happened Democrats and opponents of Trump only had themselves to blame, that people would not take this (the election results) lying down/without a fight etc.

Not so bright for the master race, when you think about it.

All of those laws rapidly enacted under the Patriotic Act to stop foreign terrorists are now being used on the American people.

It's the 'Patriot Act', it's 'now been used' on the American people 20 years, and why has this suddenly started to bother you when it hasn't so far?

When you stop buying into the whole left / right, Coke / Pepsi paradigm it’s quite apparent how decent hard working people are

"Decent hard working people" do not try to hang Mike Pence.

'acting chief of Capitol Police' said. And the global alt right still try to convince their audience 'blue lives matter'. Pretty hard for the majority of Americans to believe after seeing videos and stills of a Trump supporting terrorist using a 'blue lives matter' flag pole to beat a policeman.

And alt right Republican senators like Johnson want to completely revise what happened saying the peaceful protestors made up of parents with children, the elderly and the overweight were made to look bad by Antifa and BLM infilitrators.

The alt right Republicans and their global followers believe their Qanon/Rt/Breitbart/Carson/Hannity/Alex Jones sources, not the police who were there being violently attacked and not the US intelligence agencies.

Some of us saw this one coming but we’re called Conspiracy Theorists and other derogatory terms.
