If the files are released, tip of the hat to Trump.

It won't all be released.

I remember that day very well. I visited the School Book Depository years later. They have an exhibit roped off at the window and it's kept exactly as it was that day in 1963 - Oswald wasn't there...

It's been over 50 years so the likelihood that there are any legitimate secrets that need to be protected is low. What is more likely to be found buried in these files are facts that are embarrassing.

From a political point of view this is a clever move on Trump's part. The release of these JFK files will draw attention away from Trump's bungling job performance for at least a while.

US guys at the office say this is just another distraction from the fact that Trump has not been able to do anything promised during the election, almost one year after the election.  No Obamacare repeal/replace, tax reform, wall, infrastructure program etc etc etc.  Oh, they say, Trump DID get a few football players to stand during the National Anthem.  That is about it.

If there was a conspiracy, someone would have talked by now. No way that Washington can keep such a "secret" for so long.

CBS News re-enacted the shooting ages ago. A former Marine using that same model of rifle was able to hit the dummy target in the head several times during the trials. It was a good shot, but clearly not an impossible shot.

"Subject to the receipt of further information, I will be allowing, as President, the long blocked and classified JFK FILES to be opened," Trump said in a tweet.

Time for James Ellroy, and Pete Bondurant, to come out of retirement perhaps? Best fiction books about JFK's assassination imo.

I seem to remember Trump trying to tie Ted Cruz’s father to the Kennedy assassinaton.

Does he still think that?

Trump voice

Yeah he got his head blown off, but there's still no other US President in history that's been treated worse than me. SAD!

Ha ha ha. Nice way to deflect attention from the Donald's current pile of problems.

If releasing those documents relating to something that happened in 1963 is going to be the most important thing he's done since 'taking office', then the bar really has been set very low. This isn't gong to help the poor, the sick, or even the wealthy.

I hope Trump releases everything, but I strongly doubt that he will. The best book I've read regarding the possibility of the second gunman on the grassy knoll theory was "JFK Conspiracy of Silence" by Dr. Charles Crenshaw. Dr. Crenshaw was the surgeon on duty at Parkland Hospital when a mortally wounded president was brought in. Dr. Crenshaw's specialty was gunshot wounds, and he had seen many such injuries before JFK was brought in that fateful day. In the book, among other interesting details, he claims that immediately upon seeing JFK's injury to the head, he was absolutely certain that he was shot from the front. However, because he was a young doctor on duty at the time, he was forced by his senior doctors to change his medical opinion. Interesting book and the one I'd recommend to those who question the 2nd gunman and the Grassy Knoll Theory.

I lent my book to a surgeon who doubted the 2nd gunman theory but had never read this book by Dr. Crenshaw and he was fascinated by what he had to say and it changed his mind about it. Anyway, it's a very interesting book by the surgeon who was the very first to examine JFK's injuries.

Nothing significant will be revealed.

Files revealing the date and the rest heavily redacted.

I am with Mr. Townsend on this. Regardless of all other speculation I would like to see as much as possible released about the murder of JFK.

Anyway, back to realty now....

I loath Trump but to try to pin the timing of this on him is a bit much. Congress mandated the Oct 26 release deadline.

Good on him, been waiting for a very long time for this one.

For whom? Trump?

What did you think of Trump’s idea of Ted Cruz’s father? Trash? Stupidity? Lie, sorry, ‘hyperbole’? Conspiracy theory at the level of birtherism? Truth? Trump playing 3D chess?

What do you think?

For whom? Trump?

Definitely not from the looney left.

What did you think of Trump’s idea of Ted Cruz’s father? Trash? Stupidity? Lie, sorry, ‘hyperbole’?

It was definitely stupid, but at the same time, the media and the left say stupid things all the time, not giving Trump a pass, because that was a dumb one, but listening to left day in and day out, there’s a lot more nuttiness coming from the left.....even funny at times.

Conspiracy theory at the level of birtherism? Truth? Trump playing 3D chess?

What do you think.

Dunno, I think the phony Russian witch hunt is more conspiracy Bull manure.

@Bass

Fair enough, stupid trash it is. You couldn’t resist the whatabout reflex but that’s more honesty than you usually get about the appalling trash, sub-tabloid conspiracy nonsense and fake news which comes from the most powerful leader in the civilised world .

Thumbs up.

Obama had eight years to release this information but didn't and nothing was said.

Trump releases it and you blow his head off.

"It won't all be released." -- me in the third post from the top (the one with the down votes).

Now Trump is not releasing all of the documents. I told you so.
