U.S. coronavirus cases top 6 million

The United States also has the most deaths in the world at nearly 183,000

On the Trump watch.

And the Trump regime can't be bothered. It's 'others' hit the hardest, people at the lower end of the economic spectrum, Blacks, Hispanics, natives, citizens Republicans have ignored for decades.

5 ( +15 / -10 )

Keep in mind cases are cases. I know 6 people around me who tested positive for c19 and the worst it got for any one person was a very stuffy nose. That's all. The others had no symptoms.

Below is a very telling article about c19.

"Here's the Shockingly Small Number of People Who Died From Only the Coronavirus

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website disclosed the shockingly small number of people who died from only the Wuhan coronavirus, with no other cause of death mentioned. Hold on to your hat because here it is: out of the 161,392 deaths in the CDC data, just six percent, about 9,700 deaths, were attributed to the coronavirus alone. According to the CDC, the other 94 percent had an average of 2.6 additional conditions or causes of deaths, such as heart disease, diabetes, and sepsis. ^

-16 ( +11 / -27 )

Randy, I don't think you actually understand. The fact that the virus further exacerbates pre-existing health conditions is what makes it particularly deadly. In fact, many people do have some pre-existing condition which is why there are many deaths. If not for the virus they'd still be alive. How dare you dismiss these deaths as some joke. People lost family members and sometimes more than one. People like you are dangerous and selfish when you downplay the danger of the virus.

19 ( +31 / -12 )

And don't forget those healthy individuals with no preexisting conditions who may have long term debilitating lung, heart and other issues from the virus.

14 ( +21 / -7 )

The new Covid-19 virus has been so successful in Trump's America because of human arrogance, ignorance and folly in underestimating its virulence and its deadly potential to cause fatal harm to the human body. These latest statistics on the death count and the scale of the contagion simply mock the Republicans' feeble attempts at gaslighting the nation with fearmongering slogans like " you won't be safe in Biden's America". If Americans just follow the science instead of the dangerous blather of their politicians, they'll be a lot safer.

8 ( +14 / -6 )

But ultimately, here is an article by ny times stating what free thinkers have known all along.

" According to The New York Times, potentially 90 percent of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 have such insignificant amounts of the virus present in their bodies that such individuals do not need to isolate nor are they candidates for contact tracing. Leading public health experts are now concerned that overtesting is responsible for misdiagnosing a huge number of people with harmless amounts of the virus in their systems.

"Most of these people are not likely to be contagious, and identifying them may contribute to bottlenecks that prevent those who are contagious from being found in time," warns The Times."

-16 ( +7 / -23 )

Grest point Randy! The media report cases because it feeds the hysteria and sells stories.

I’ve had 5 relatives in their 80s catch it in California, the worst symptoms were stuffy noses.

The US also tests more, so I wonder what Japan would look like with more testing?

The U.S. has many cases of covid but hasn't shut down, so time will tell how this plays out -- meanwhile, the people aren't crippled by fear.

-14 ( +7 / -21 )

From Dr. Birx:

Dr. Deborah Birx, the response coordinator for the White House coronavirus task force, said the federal government is continuing to count the suspected COVID-19 deaths, despite other nations doing the opposite.

"There are other countries that if you had a pre-existing condition, and let's say the virus caused you to go to the ICU [intensive care unit] and then have a heart or kidney problem," she said during a Tuesday news briefing at the White House. "Some countries are recording that as a heart issue or a kidney issue and not a COVID-19 death.

-15 ( +5 / -20 )

"Most of these people are not likely to be contagious, and identifying them may contribute to bottlenecks that prevent those who are contagious from being found in time," warns The Times."

well someone is contagious because at least two percent of Americans have caught it and nearly 200,000 have died.

if these individuals are not contagious, then some people are very contagious indeed. How do we know who the ultra contagious are?

An article on May 16,2020.

The following is from a doctor who is in the know.

Timothy Craig Allen, MD, JD, contributed to this column.

Over 86,500 people have reportedly died in the United States from the Coronavirus, and the fear generated by those deaths is driving the public policy debate. But that number is a dramatic overcount. Our metrics include deaths that have nothing to do with the virus. The problem is even worse as the Centers for Disease Control over counts even some of these cases and the government has created financial incentives for this misreporting. Relying on these flawed numbers is destroying businesses and jobs and costing lives.

Randy, I don't think you actually understand.

No, he understands. You must have noticed by now how every single new article about covid 19 in the US or Japan on this site is immediately spammed by "posters" attempting to deny or downplay the effects of the virus. Strangely, many of these "posters" are pro-Trump. It's just coincidence, surely.

14 ( +20 / -6 )

The number of people tested has fallen in recent weeks.

Trump: I say to my people, slow down the testing (Tulsa rally).

8 ( +12 / -4 )

So what is your point, Randy?

You last post was about 85,000+ deaths and it's up to almost 180,000 now.

And the total deaths in the US are 200,000 (including Covid-19) more than usual so far in a year and not being attributed to Covid-19 since the people were not tested.

That would mean that Covid cases are undercounted.

Come on, think a little deeper.

11 ( +16 / -5 )

77 positive cases for the NFL players. All restested and found negative.

CDC says only 6 percent of the deaths from COVID only. The others had 2.6 other issues/comorbidity caused their deaths.

-8 ( +5 / -13 )

I understand the point that the way in which countries are counting the actual cases of this virus can be doubted. Yet, it doesn't take away the impact that this virus has had on the world. It also doesn't take away the fact that the U.S. government and its leader could've done so much more to prevent the number from rising. Former presidents Barack Obama and George Bush understood the potential threat of a pandemic. They had set aside money for a response team and supplies, but Trump came in and dismantled it all. Trump's plan is to let states decide themselves how to handle it. Sorry, but guidance for a pandemic needs strong leadership, funding, and instructions from the top. Trump has thus failed miserably in that sense.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

So 88 cases out of 365,000 is newsworthy?

drew more than 365,000 people from across the country from Aug. 7 to 16. The South Dakota health department said 88 cases have been traced to the rally.

Oh it’s the Sturgis rally so gotta politicize that.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

Minimize it all you want, by the end of the year we will have 300,000 (& that statistic is very likely an undercount) dead Americans in 10-11 months. That’s roughly the same amount of American dead in WWII. In 4 years.

A 2 front world war’s worth of death in less than a year.

This is Trump’s legacy.

7 ( +13 / -6 )

India had 78,671 new case yesterday. Japan is very lucky.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

“It’s a horrible number,” Trump said, but "if we have between 100,000 and 200,000 (deaths), we all together have done a very good job.”

Hm.

Soon, really soon, we will pass that unbelievable figure of 200,000 U.S. Covid deaths.

What will Trump say then?

https://www.syracuse.com/coronavirus/2020/03/trump-on-coronavirus-if-us-has-100000-to-200000-deaths-weve-done-a-good-job.html

5 ( +8 / -3 )

It also doesn't take away the fact that the U.S. government and its leader could've done so much more to prevent the number from rising. Former presidents Barack Obama and George Bush understood the potential threat of a pandemic.

Those presidents were also smart enough to listen to experts, which is why they had set up pandemic response programs. Trump gutted those programs because he’s nowhere near smart enough to understand he isn’t the smartest person in the room.

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

amazing how the people who fight over the accuracy of the numbers are the same ones who been rounding up the deaths 15-20% to 200,000 for the last 2 weeks and now we even have a member of the 300,000 death club who has popped up.

Again, 6% were corona. This is the CDC, the experts. The others who passed had comorbidities- they had a disease, and another disease, and sometimes another disease.

Sturgis, 88 cases, 95% is the recovery rate so thats what- 4 potential deaths? even less if the people were under 45. Politics much?

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

Hold on to your hat because here it is: out of the 161,392 deaths in the CDC data, just six percent, about 9,700 deaths, were attributed to the coronavirus alone. According to the CDC, the other 94 percent had an average of 2.6 additional conditions or causes of deaths, such as heart disease, diabetes, and sepsis.

This is not a revelation, Randy. This awareness of the role of comorbidities has been out there from the start.

The point you seem determined to ignore is that if they hadn't contracted the coronavirus, the vast majority of those 152,000 or so other people with comorbidities such as heart disease or diabetes would have kept on living for many years, because the other conditions they had were perfectly manageable with medication and/or were not going to kill them for years, if at all. The reason they died when they did, and therefore the primary agent of their deaths, is that they contracted Covid-19.

It's like being a cancer sufferer with 12 months to live being killed by a bus. It's not the cancer that killed the victim.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Five months and more US deaths from COVID than all the wars we have been in since 1945....

All due to the fact we had a President that said it was a "hoax", said it was "contained", said it was "just one person from China".....

Then he goes and tweets that wearing a mask is "Anti-American"....

Even today, he spends more time on the golf course than fighting the virus and saving American lives...

Had we had a true leader who reacted swiftly, marshaled the resources of government and science to fight it, urged Americans to be safe, how many more thousands would be alive today?

It's Trump's greatest failure - and that's saying something...

Somehow in some way it seems as though there are common folk who wish to believe they know better than these factually speaking doctors.

No, some of us common folk look at Jensen's experience (and political background), compare that to the experience and medical background of those (non-politically aligned) professionals with actual knowledge of the behaviour of epidemics, listen to what both are saying and then make a judgement accordingly.

That means Jensen doesn't win.

U.S. coronavirus cases top 6 million

Yeah, we test more by far.

The United States also has the most deaths in the world at nearly 183,000

How many of those "coronavirus" deaths were elderly/with underlying conditions who would have died within months regardless? We'll never know. All I know is hospitals have recorded some deaths as corona deaths simply because they could get corona money by doing that. But let's assume the number is correct.

So 5,817,000 have recovered. But yeah, let's keep the economy shut down until Harris-Biden are elected.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

lincolnman: It's Trump's greatest failure - and that's saying something...

Trump shut down travel from China Jan. 31. Next day Biden tweeted "We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus. We need to lead the way with science — not Donald Trump's record of hysteria, xenophobia and fear mongering."

He would not have shut down travel from China, at least not then. How many more deaths would we have had? Now that would have been a failure of epic proportions, wouldn't it? Oh my...

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

"I know 6 people around me who tested positive for c19 and the worst it got for any one person was a very stuffy nose. That's all. The others had no symptoms."

And a very good friend of mine, (a semi pro runner) can barely walk on some days, after "recovering" from Covid.

Someone who was Mr. Fitness, no booze, no smoke, no drugs of any description. Used to run Marathons all over the UK and Europe.

It's people like you "helping" propagate the myth that Covid-19 is just a conspiracy.

Trump shut down travel from China Jan. 31. Next day Biden tweeted "We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus. We need to lead the way with science — not Donald Trump's record of hysteria, xenophobia and fear mongering."

Biden's tweet was not in response to the ban, regardless of what Hannity has told you.

And BTW, it wasn't a complete shutdown of travel from China anyway. 40,000 travelers from China entered the U.S. after Trump reluctantly gave the order on advice from Fauci and other advisers. Why reluctantly? Because he didn't want to spoil his friendship with Xi.

Trump is so, like, on the ball.

That's some real mental gymnastics right there..

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Hey, didn't Trump say repeatedly that COVID would magically disappear? And that was after he said the pandemic was a hoax and fake news. 180,000 plus deaths due to Trump failure on this health matter in addition to the economy tanking by huge numbers, millions laid off and the Federal Debt skyrocketing.

Getting tired of winning yet?

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Plandemic is a bust, more and more are waking up to this giant scam and protesting. Did you see the protests in European capitals yesterday?

Anyway, you can be sure that if Biden wins in November, suddenly the MSM will start downplaying the seriousness of Covid and there will be "calls to open the economy and get back to normal".

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

Amazing the quick pivot from the #notmypresident of the last 4 years to "this is Donald Trumps America".

as Joe Bidens voters do something violent or Dems try to use the supposed pandemic to alter voting and destroy the economy.

It's like being a cancer sufferer with 12 months to live being killed by a bus. It's not the cancer that killed the victim.

I'm a big unclear where the mental gymnastics come into play there. All he said was that if you get hit and killed by a bus, your cause of death is getting hit and killed by a bus.

Seems very straightforward to me.

then why was a guy who crashed a motorcyle marked as corona death?

then why was a guy who crashed a motorcyle marked as corona death?

why does this only go one way?

Because they made a mistake. Is there a single field of human endeavour that you know of where people don't make mistakes?

If you're talking about the guy in Florida, the attribution to Covid-19 was later removed from the count. From the Snopes report:

It does appear to the case, however, that a motorcyclist who was killed in a traffic accident also tested positive for COVID-19, and was initially listed among Florida’s COVID-19-related deaths. But officials from the Florida Department of Health said that person has since been removed from the count.

Yeah, we test more by far.

I hear this often but the truth is the US is far down the list, barely edging into the top 20 on a per capita basis.

Yeah how convenient to try to measure testing as per capita but then deaths as total.

just change that measurement system when its off narrative, perfectly legit and not pushing a partisan political agenda whatsoever.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Ah, the casedemic again.

Meanwhile the CDC has quietly adjusted to explain that of the 180,000 Corona deaths (that the media typicall blame on evil Trump), only 9,000 have died FROM Corona. The rest had co-morbidieties and died WITH Corona.

You can see this info on the CDC page, but curiously I did not hear it mentioned on CNN. Have the other media picked it up? Seems to me that is quite different number suddenly.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

India had 78,671 new case yesterday. Japan is very lucky.

Yes, the recovery rate is also increasing, the number of recoveries in India now exceed the active cases by 3.55 times, now if this fact was mentioned the pandemic will loose its shine immediately.

How many new cases do you foresee if Japan tests the same numbers as US or India..

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Biden's tweet was not in response to the ban, regardless of what Hannity has told you.

Biden's tweet made it clear he would not have shut down travel from China at that time, regardless of what the media has told you.

Haha. I said the same thig earlier on this thread and defenders of the shutdown completely and intentionally ignored the facts.

Oh my goodness.

I see Trump supporters are back to trusting polls. Flip-flop, flip-flip, flop-flop, flip-flop.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Yeah how convenient to try to measure testing as per capita but then deaths as total

just change that measurement system when its off narrative, perfectly legit and not pushing a partisan political agenda whatsoever.

I was just responding to a comment that only talked about testing, thus my comment that only mentioned per capita testing and that the US isn’t testing nearly as much as some would want you to believe.

Per capita deaths? Now that’s an area where Trump is “winning”. In COVID deaths not only is the US leading in total count, but it’s well into the top 10 of all countries on a per capita basis.

With how poorly the US is managing the corona response, and a daily death rate far greater than those few countries that do have a higher per capita death count, the US will probably continue to move up the list.

This will be Trump’s legacy.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

You can see this info on the CDC page, but curiously I did not hear it mentioned on CNN. Have the other media picked it up? Seems to me that is quite different number suddenly.

CNN is garbage. Why anyone watches it is beyond me.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

In fact, many people do have some pre-existing condition which is why there are many deaths. If not for the virus they'd still be alive..

Those pre-exsisting conditions effect the immune system, unless there immune system was to return to normal, condition they would have died sooner or later, the virus just accelerated that process, thankfully high majority of the world wide population (95%+) have normal immune system and are auto recovering fine.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Meanwhile the CDC has quietly adjusted to explain that of the 180,000 Corona deaths (that the media typicall blame on evil Trump), only 9,000 have died FROM Corona. The rest had co-morbidieties and died WITH Corona.

You are misrepresenting the data and what the CDC says. I've just looked through the entire CDC website on coronavirus deaths and nowhere does it say only 9,000 people died from Corona. They simply don't categorize the data the way that you say they do:
