Saddam Hussein also thinks that before.

Oh, the US would dare to attack Iran. All it would take is for it to have a President who is either delusional, gullible, or 'patriotic' enough, a press and politicians who don't care about the facts enough, and a military too loyal to refuse the order to commit what some of the judges at Nuremberg felt was the biggest war crime, starting a war.

Seems like all the boxes are checked off today.

On the other hand, the US has been careful to pick much weaker victims pretty much since 1812, and still been forced to a draw (or a resignation) more than once. About the only way that I can see the US really going to war with a modern, industrialized, space capable democracy is if it had a blind spot big enough that it could look at such a nation and see a backwards third world banana republic.

Oops, that's another box that is checked.

Has the U.S. attacked Iran yet? Checking...

Oops, that box hasn't been checked.

The Commander of the Republican Guards and John "I love the Bomb" Bolton - two far right whack jobs who are leading their respective leaders to the brink of war.

And Trump, who called the last middle east war "the biggest mistake in our history" is being pulled along like a poodle by Bolton, just like Cheney led Bush around by the nose.

Republicans and their middle east war fixation...

God help us...

"C'mon, here's my chin! Punch me!" Saddam Hussein threw down a challenge just like this and the U.S. stupidly went for it.

Hopefully this time the US will see the psyching for what it is, and will be savvy and zen enough to be unfazed by any stupid feint. Stay cool, folks!

P.S. "You wouldn't dare!" is the bait.

How tempting is that?

Bolton doesn't know what he's doing here. He has no idea what his end result will be.

Give him a troop of cavalry, wave, and watch him ride off!

(But the challenge was sent to Pompeo.)

Half the article should be about the use of false intelligence to invade Iraq and no one ever being held accountable for that.

Yeah, everyone knows US is very belligerent. It will attack sooner or later. They love war.

Iran should just tell Trump how wonderful he is and that he's the greatest man to ever live. Then the Iranians can negotiate a much better nuclear deal in their own behalf than the one they previously signed on to under president Obama.

I completely disagree with Donny and well-groomed rat on my lip Bolton and their drive to war. That said, the US would turn Iran into a wasteland. As Donny said, its be a helluva lot more than 120,000 boots on the ground.

With any luck, Iran won't antagonized Donny too much.

Chip, just a reminder, while Iran maintains a very small standing army, on the smallest military budget in the region, it IS a space capable industrialized democracy that has both the raw materials and the skilled people to produce the sorts of ammunition and weapons a technical base that is already using nanotechnology and modern composites can produce, and designed a military system that can go from a small standing army to a large, mobile, heavily armed, integrated military in days.

And, while the US has a large standing army, with vast stockpiles of ammunition, the bulk of the military personnel are already committed to other places, the bulk of the ammunition is a generation or two old, and both the terrain and the logistics chain work against it.

"that can go from a small standing army to a large, mobile, heavily armed, integrated military in days." LOL. Gosh, you make it sound as if Iran could last more than thirty days IF Iran were to chose to start a war with the U.S..

Iran can make any claims it wishes to as long as they chose not to attack its neighbors, or the U.S.. Talk is cheap. Let's hope that Iran sticks with the cheap talk.
