The United States hit a record 16 million COVID-19 cases on Saturday afternoon, with deaths closing in on the 300,000 mark,

Historians will look back at this pandemic era and find dozens of reasons the US failed so miserably to deal with it. And I'm sure most will say the problems stemmed from failures of leadership, especially from the president and his administration.

thank you President Trump for this “miracle” that the media and others said would never happen this year.

Yes, Mr. President on behalf of the 300,000 dead Americans and the millions more infected, thank you for your hard work in single-handedly causing and then curing this illness. Well done. ;)

No one said that. But they lied to you in your bubble by telling you that the media was saying that. And your team was full of people too stupid to check if what you were being told was true or not.

Yeah, am sure the families of the dead are praising him for sitting on the facts, playing down the dangers, encouraging people to gather in large crowds, not wear masks and focus on his ego-led super spreaders and parties.

Apparently there's no cure for the Trump cult.

Ugh.

especially from the president and his administration

What president? That role's been vacant for the last 4 years.

If you want to know who is at fault, look in the mirror. It isn't entirely a failure of leadership. It mostly isn't. Even in states with governors and mayors who took the pandemic seriously and who attempted to do all the right things by their people you find huge numbers of people simply ignoring the advice of scientists and the medical profession. Basic things like mask wearing, social distancing, not being in large crowds, not having parties, not going to sports events, the beach, concerts, etc., are widely ignored. The problem in the US is the people themselves. Not enough people acknowledge the severity of the danger and not enough people are willing to exercise the degree of restraint required to slow the spread of the virus. Everyone has an excuse for not doing the right thing. People even stubbornly insist the government cannot tell them what to do, which pretty much negates the efforts of leaders who do take the pandemic seriously, and are willing to do things that will endanger others and in some cases kill others because they claim a right to do as they wish regardless of the result. It might be the CCPs fault that the virus got out of China and infected the world but aside from that Americans have no one to blame but themselves for this horrors we all see in the US today. Taiwan is right next door to China and has suffered only 7 deaths and a little over 600 total cases on a population of about 24 million. Florida has a population just slightly smaller than Taiwan but has had over 1 million cases and tens of thousands of deaths. That isn't China's fault. That is the fault of individual Americans making poor choices day after day after day. Now vote me down all you want and call me unpatriotic if you must. I am beyond caring at this point. There is only so much stupidity I can tolerate.

Just think how great this president; he spent all of his time developing the vaccine, so he had no time the find evidence of mass voter fraud. Donald is a real team player. :P

I guess NBC news is nobody.

remember how liberals mocked and mocked when trump said this year would be vaccine.

No one said that. But they lied to you in your bubble by telling you that the media was saying that.

Is Fauci EVER right about anything?

“Trump's own top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, told the "Today" show that January 2021 is the earliest a vaccine could be ready, but cautioned that that timeline is "aspirational" and depends on companies producing a vaccine before researchers are sure it will work.”

Yeah, what you leave out is the part where Chief of Staff Mark Meadows threatened to fire FDA staff unless they approved the drug early. Donald doesn't get credit for pushing people around.

@zichi

The Lancet has been pretty good on this. It isn’t as fun as conspiracy theorists on YouTube as medical journals aren’t really written to entertain.

This is where education and upbringing come in. I think too many pampered kids are brought up with the idea that everything should be fun and aren’t prepared to put the necessary graft in. I think this could help to explain the mindset of some conspiracy theorists.
