Isn’t it nice to wake and not have to worry about what idiotic thing Trump said or did anyone?

It's almost like waking up from a long, never ending nightmare.

Instead of nonstop Twitter feeds antagonizing imagined enemies, now we real progress being made in reversing four years of damage to Americans.

The two leaders agreed to work together towards reducing"irregular migration," the White House release said

That sounds like a sensible approach to the problem. It has to be better than demonizing an entire country, shutting down the government for 35 days and spending $20 million per mile on a fence.

Moot point. Net migration has been of Mexicans back into Mexico. There are still a few Central Americans entering the US, but the US economic model of living off cheap immigrant labor is coming to an end as fertility rates around the world collapse. Maybe they can find some desperate souls in Equatorial Guinea who still want to go to the US.

One thing they could do is to expand the immigration court system. Currently it can take several years to work through the process, especially for asylum seekers because the courts are so backlogged. That means people will be allowed to stay in the US for years before becoming actual citizens or being denied.

We can’t believe you anymore. Four 4 years you bleated Trump wouldn’t leave. And he left!

Let's see what the extreme right were saying about Trump being ousted:

Never going to happen!

Landslide Trump/Pence 2020!

The Democrats are finished!

Reversing Trump's crazed policies is easy. Reversing his cult followers to a modicum of normality is a much harder job.

I agree. Everyone will be paid a minimum wage. Or like Marx said, just enough for the worker to be able eat the bare minimum needed to make it physically to work, work, go home and do it all again the next day.

That's how Japanese are living now.

As the 34-year-old sung the lyric “proof through the night that our flag was still there”, she turned around and pointed at the star spangled banner atop the Capitol — that was still flying strong despite rioters attacking the building last week.

Wow! Literally by Lady Gaga. Trump refused to leave and almost became a dictator and it would have happened if Congress didn't escape the Proud Boys.

Proud Boys stand by

Draconian means: excessively harsh and severe.

The media will say anything for clicks, meanwhile, the caravan is in for a big surprise when they reach the American border and are rejected entry because of Bidens "new draconian border protection policy".

Trump is cruel. He puts children in cages and separates them from their mommies and daddies.

They feared their ways, their "otherness" and what they might bring with them. The class struggle politics behind the various rebellions in Ireland, for example.

Which just fed into the nativist, anti-immigrant sentiment.

There is that but there are genuine and real concerns about immigration which are not based on racism or nativism. I support controlled immigration which benefits the host country and the immigrants themselves. One of the reasons there has been an upsurge in anti-immigrant sentiment is the mistakes made by many countries in getting immigration wrong ( which some administrations in some countries admitted ).

Many Japanese people I know look at European countries and the problems there when thinking about immigration.

In all this noise over immigration reform, it seems illegals are a priority instead of legal immigrants. The legal immigration system in the US is also a mess, but have not heard anything concrete from this administration apart from the usual lip service.
