Has Trump phoned his boss yet to congratulate him on yet another election win?

"Nobody plans to accelerate an arms race"

Saying that after promoting an "unstoppable" missile... He has some guts !

Well when you have the weapons capability that Russia possesses, there is no need to have an arms race!

You have already won!

It’s hard to be successful in this world without allies. You might gain temporary, limited victories, but long-term goals for areas outside of your borders becomes very limited. Being a pariah state has it’s consequences, and the biggest is unrealized economic and diplomatic gains.

How ridiculous.  He couldn't afford and arms race, even if he wanted one.

That’s cause he’s already got the best toys.

"I brag about my nuclear weapons, spread propaganda about civilization-destroying salted nukes I *probably *don't have and orchestrated a terrorist attack on a country I wasn't at war with using a weapon of mass destruction. But I'm not interested in an arms race. Kindly just let me win, and there will be no race."

Exactly.

Why would you announce invincible nuclear weapons if you didn't want to provoke the other guy into building exactly the same thing, which is what the U.S will now do.

I don't think the present nuclear club has reached capacity to be honest with you. I think its inevitable that more countries will acquire nuclear weapons, especially in the West. Sounds crazy, but I honestly believe its possible if Russia and China continue on their present trajectory.

Just to add, I would not be surprised if other Asian countries wen't down that path as well.

Indonesia, Vietnam are prime candidates. Australia as well if China starts building bases nearby.

Tiny Putin is trolling the West.

We must stand up to the bully. Seize their European assets and deny visas to Russians. Keep 'em out. Mess with their cyberspace. Make it clear we've had enough....

Correction: Putting tells AMERICA. Russia is a Western country. The West is not a monolithic entity. It's a geographical term for Europe, and all European populated countries.

Putin had been correct in much of his analysis and opinion of world politics and developments.

He is faced with both domestic and external problems of stabilizing Russia politically as well as economically.

But he is facing a bigger threat from his southern border China that has the economic power and the resources that just gave Xi dictatorial powers for life. In that light, he had to show a "big" win to retain his power if only to counter China's Xi.

Economically, Russia could not sustain another arms race after the breakup of USSR. He cannot do what Kim does in N Korea or what Xi does in China. Although he might do that covertly, he could not do that openly.

The only thing he is doing and must continue to do is turn old armaments and ordinances to cash by selling them to foreign nations such as Syria to get new weapons. Something China was probably been doing for decades in the Middle East, Africa, S America and N Korea.

If Xi is "arrogant" then Putin is "wise" while both Trump and Kim are "strategists", and they are all smart. But, they all may have more enemies than friends.

Back a while maybe 2001, Mr. Putin thought he could join the elites club of US/EU but he soon realized their views. And it became more obvious after that and until now. Reality is more dramatic than soaps on TV eh. It is what it is.
