Who to trust, Trump or the generals?

It's doubtful extreme ideologies like those seen throughout MENA can be erased any time soon. It's doubtful the various 'guerilla' forces can ever be wiped out.

Leave Syria to Assad, the Russians and Iranians. Let Syria be their Vietnam/Afghanistan.

US: protect your own borders (using methods besides spending 25++++++billion dollars for a wall, or whatever it's being called today), and stop burning so much oil and gas.

Take 'power' away from the world's hydrocarbon nabobs - and their financial backers.

Who to trust, Trump or the generals?

Good question or perhaps more specifically stated; do you believe;

A failed reality TV star who own staff has called him a "moron", "idiot", a "danger to the republic", and "has the understanding of a fifth or sixth grader". Someone who dodged the draft when he was called to serve, and fired one of our most respected senior military leaders, Gen Mattis.

Career military professionals, many with actual combat experience, who have studied the art of war and have vast experience.

If you're a Trumper, i think we know the answer....

Votel told the Senate hearing he was not consulted ahead of Trump's surprise decision to withdraw America's more than 2,000 troops from Syria, which helped trigger the resignation of his defense secretary, Jim Mattis.

Unbelievable, the 'Executive Time 'dumb*** didnt think it worthwhile to consult his own generals.

What would be believable is him consulting the Russian ones.

Who to trust, Trump or the generals?

We can find the answer, as always, in scripture:

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the TRUMP. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

--Isaiah 55:8-9

Remember the former things of old; for I am TRUMP, and there is no other; I am TRUMP, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose, including a big beautiful concrete wall paid for by Mexico’

--Isaiah 46:9-10

For once, I agree with Trump's sentiment: the US should not provide everlasting security to that dumpster fire corner of the world. Let Russia and Iran shoulder the burden in Syria and let the Afghans work out their future by themselves (and with Pakistan).

But even with a plausibly good idea, Trump executes horribly. It won't be long until Iraq has had enough and forces the US to leave.

The article talks about "IS strongholds in Syria and Iraq", but fails to mention IS strongholds in various other countries.

The sad thing is that the US withdrawal leaves the Kurds, who have been fighting alongside the US for years - aka allies - at the mercy of the wolves.

Once again the US ruins a region, and leaves it a mess.

Two sets of wolves, Strangerland, IS to the south, and to the north Turkey who have vowed to crush them inside Syria as soon as the US support is withdrawn. And the Syrian Kurds were the bravest and paid the highest sacrifice of all.
