The Americans wont even notice. It is a failure before it begins.

China will never give up complaining about Taiwan, and as China seeks more power in the region and globally, Taiwan is becoming more and more strategically important to Chinese expansion in the future.

If Taiwan were to go over to Chinese control, consider the consequences for Japan in particular, having China literally within eyesight of Japanese territory is not something either Japan nor the US wants to see happen.

This is an excellent opportunity for both US & Japanese companies to move into Taiwan.

Ah . The double edged sword or unintended consequences

The idea of punishing companies (or sanctioning countries) that do business with a country that you have unilaterally declared guilty of something is a recent American invention.

It is used very selectively. Iran bad, Saudi Arabia good.

Until now the US has thought that they were powerful enough to use this tool with no repercussions.

Now China is doing the same thing there will be an , Oops! moment.

All China needs to do is to identify one component (paint, wire, carbon fibre panels) and the manufacturer of that item is fair game.

The Americans wont even notice. It is a failure before it begins.

Oops !

Bravo, trump should learn that the art of playing one against the other is over.

Good job, Trump! Hope the soy-bean farmers you've bankrupted like your own businesses are feeling the joy. Not like China's about to resume things with the US selling arms to Taiwan to make a quick buck.

The only Oops moment will be for China when its attempts to sanction a nation that buys about three times the volume of Chinese goods to what China does with America.

Oops, China made another mistake.

Go Taiwan go. Protect human rights and democracy.

And the Democrats would have done what? Continue the status quo? Basically, don’t rock the boat and capitulate to the Chinese. Not this President, thankfully.

Good thing, actually. It's not like these companies do business with China, and not should they.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Bet the Chinese wont stop attempting to steal technology from these companies.

How is Trump’s socialist farming policy getting along? Lots of entitlements to the farmers who would prefer sales to handouts.

Since it’s temporary, should be fine. Now if it’s permanent, I have a problem, but that’ll rectify itself sooner than later.

China says it will freeze out U.S. companies that sell Taiwan arms

So what!

China claims self-ruled and democratic Taiwan as its own

Well, Taiwan doesn't agree.

(China) has never renounced the use of force to bring it (Taiwan) under Beijing's control.

Taiwan has every right to protect itself from a hostile annexation by China. If they want to buy arms from the U.S., that's their perogative.

I don't have a problem with Taiwan buying from the U.S (or its allies), but apparently China does. And China has an issue with Taiwan wanting to keep its own sovereignty. That's why they are trying to threaten other countries NOT to provide Taiwan the capability of protecting itself from a hostile military action against them.

Its just a matter of time before China bankrupts America if they dont Donny will...

If China meddles in the election and one of these Democrats gets in the White House, quite possibly.

If "Donny" is re-elected it won't happen.

I am okay with this move on China’s part. They steal enough Western technology- shouldn’t be giving it to them.

The only Oops moment will be for China when its attempts to sanction a nation

That maybe true IF China tried to sanction a nation

As I said, they will pick off companies and industries and inflict localized pain,

To quote myself, "All China needs to do is to identify one component (paint, wire, carbon fibre panels) and the manufacturer of that item is fair game."

Yes, the Chinese sell in America, but they have established, growing markets for a broad range of products all around the world.

The US produces some quality products (Oxicodine, etc) and has a strong domestic market, but their presence in the international product market place is shrinking year by year. That is except for military equipment.

Well, Boeing is a major defense contractor, selling everything from F-15, F/A-18, V-22 Osprey, KC-46, AWACS, AH-64 Apache etc.

So at least one major US firm is exposed to this.

China: 'Abandon an allied nation we admittedly want to take over or we won't buy some products from you.'

America: 'Bye Felicia.'

Why doesn’t the world recognize Taiwan as a nation and country? US, Japan, and U.N.?

It's an unfortunate balancing act to keep China from blowing up and just plain invading Taiwan to get it back.
