"Shame on you. Shame on you and stop," said Mary Lou McDonald, leader of Sinn Fein, which signed the peace agreement. She told BBC Northern Ireland the blast was an "outrageous attack".

Well said, Mary Lou. Unfortunately, the dissident Republicans see you as a sell-out and will probably continue their wreckless campaign of violence and mayhem. Her predecessor, Gerry Adams famously said about the IRA that "they haven't gone away, you know".

But the difference is that the IRA are no more and these fringe groups are hardcore. Like their loyalist counterparts, their aim is hatred and they care not a jot about the peace process. Sadly, Brexit could lead to more incidents like these, before an eventual united Ireland, inclusive of all.

Oh and Irish people don't call it Londonderry. They refer to it as Derry. As in, "you are now entering free Derry".
