Watching Macron's address, I cried - cried out of sadness that the US does not have a leader who is so literate, intelligent, able to understand and express a long-range strategic goal for humanity, and so able to speak English.

Yet Trump allowed him to speak freely to our Congress in the first place, a rare honor.

That's a fair point blacklabel. I actually think that DT is proud of his relationship with an eloquent & erudite man like Macron and isn't afraid of being outshone by him (occasionally that is) even on home soil.

Crazyjoe's point is valid & well made though; our leaders should all have the ability to construct, convey and present complex ideas clearly & coherently. (tbf, Trump isn't the only world leader lacking these qualities).

I felt that much more patriotic glad that we finally have a president that is an unapologetic fighter and that is willing to go the extra lengths to keep the country safe to keep our allies safe and to stand up to adversaries. Both are great men

I can be friends with someone and support what they stand for and what they are doing without doing those same things myself. What Americans want and what French want is different. What is good for the USA and what is good for France is different.

Macron was obviously speaking from the perspective of what is best for America to do....as it relates to France. Not as it relates to the USA.

Protecting the environment is bad for the US ?

too general of a concept to say. In some cases the “environment” must be disturbed for human progress, acquisition of natural resources, people having a place to live, benefit of citizens to make money for survival, economic prosperity, on and on.

What do you mean "too general" ? This is about the Paris Agreement, reducing carbon dioxide so we can breathe, water to drink and making sure the planet doesn't turn into a giant desert. That's the basics for survival.

Oh you talking about climate change, not protecting the environment In the way I thought.

Some of us don’t want to pay 2 billion dollars a year to give other countries an economic advantage over us. India and China don’t have to do anything at all for at least 10 more years. Plus, climate change itself isn’t an indisputable fact to begin with.

Do you really think giving 2 billion to the Green Climate Fund, which is made to help the poorest countries develop their renewable, will put the US at a disadvantage ? 2 billion out of a 19 trillion economy ? Even when other countries like Japan, Sweden or the UK are giving a much higher percentage of their own economy ?

Plus, climate change itself isn’t an indisputable fact to begin with.

Yes it is.

Lots of people disputing your “indisputable” fact. Liberals no problem to give away 2 billion for unproven science. but trying to get people fired for spending 4,000 dollars on a desk so they can work or worried about the difference between economy and first class travel. Priorities.

unproven science.

It's established science. The only people who disagree are Americans who do it along political ideological lines.

Sorry, things that cannot be proven true using scientific method remains “theory”. Science is funny like that.

Macron shares the same high level of arrogance as Obama. And also talks up a good storm all the same. What he can achieve remains to be seen.

Um yeah - literally everting in science is theory. And I don’t use the world ‘literally’ lightly. Nothing is ever proven through the scientific method. Hypothesis are made, Tests are done and conclusions are drawn. But the whole point of the scientific method is that other evidence can come into play in the future, negating original conclusions.

Thats why it’s ‘accpeted acience’ or ‘established science’ and not ‘proven science’.

Climate change is established and accepted. The only ones attempting to deny it are a certain politicial party and it’s peons in America.
