Nah, he’s still dithering as much as before.

There's just something annoying and patronizing about the way Johnson speaks.

Exactly. Although Johnson and his fellow incompetents have done U-turn after U-turn, the situation wouldn't have been as bad as it is if there had been better public compliance during the past couple of months with the perfectly sensible slogan of Hands Face Space. Compliance has become very poor in so many places -- in the popular British press we see photo after photo and video after video every day of streets and indoor settings where maskless and undistanced people are simply ignoring the guidance, even (or especially) in areas with a high infection rate.

The white western world is not taking the pandemic seriously. Many will die needlessly because of this. The worst is still ahead of us I fear but hopefully those who survive this will have learned to act like adults capable of self restraint and deferred gratification. My fear is the casualty count will have to be very high to teach people these necessary qualities. It currently seems like a small minority are willing to do the right things and are too often ridiculed for their efforts.

Yes, a little poodle for his paymasters across the Atlantic.

Going well is it? Just as you imagined it would nearly 5 years ago? UK still holding all the cards?

I saw Farage doing his best impression of a lapdog at a Trump biohazard circus.
He should have invited his old UKIP/Brexit party nutters over. Talk of ‘Bongo Bongo land’ would have went down a storm at a Trump rally.

We put the lockdown in,
We put the lockdown out,
In out, in out,
shake it all about...
The amateur-hour Johnson and his Tory chinless wonders have now got the whole sickened country dancing to their Covid Hokey-Cokey soon to be followed by the toothless British Lion chasing its own tail to the tune of the Brexit Tango. But that's what they voted for, innit?
Toasted Heretic
Aye.
Not to mention treating the children as dirt, what with the school meals debacle.
Utterly worthless individual.
Mr Kipling
Im sad to agree but Ego Sum is spot on. So many people are not isolating as advised. Up to 75% in one survey. Social distancing in pubs and clubs is often ignored. Mask wearing is haphazard and the governments advice is also nonsensical... Wear a mask in the corridor but not in the classroom”?
Of course most people will follow the protocols to the best of their ability but there are a significant number of covidiots whose actions will lead to failure.
Ameila Leary
Too many people do not, as advised, separate themselves. In one survey, up to 75 percent. In bars and clubs, mutual isolation is frequently overlooked. The wearing of masks is haphazard and the recommendation from governments is often nonsensical. Of course, to the extent of their abilities, most individuals will obey the procedures, but there are a large number of covidiots whose actions will lead to disaster.

If it's a no deal, I'll be happy!

Isn't it interesting that someone begging for lockdowns in the US is so against its in Jolly Old England!

Is there something like a "White Western World"? As opposed to a large number of different countries, populations, and politicians with different opinions?
And where is the "non-white, non-western" world that takes the pandemic so much more seriously? Any examples for that?
It sounds like you are talking about the black plague and not a flue-related virus with a very death rate that is getting lower all the time as better treatments come online.
What is the "right thing"? Destroying economies and locking people in like in a police state? Anything else?
Nihonview
So much for the testing testing game plan.

It isn't though. The UK and EU are still negotiating their future relationship which is part of the Brexit process. I really do wonder whether you deliberately choose to disagree.
Tangerine2000
As you said in your own comment:
So Brexit still hasn't finished yet. You are awkward.
And why would I want to "suck it up"? That's something you say to someone who has to put up with something they don't want. I am in favour of no deal. Saying "suck it up" makes your sound childish.

BoJo seems to have learned from getting covid.

UK is trying to compete with US to be the first to have a civil war

What's a general election got to do with anything? Farage influences policy by being a political threat to the Tories. This is how he's been operating for ages.
Tangerine2000
And yet Farage has been driving the Tories' Brexit policies for some time.
Tangerine2000
The Tories have brought about another national lockdown (which could be extended beyond a month). Labour offer nothing else because they also support the lockdown. Good job Nigel's back with another choice.
Tangerine2000
Shows how little you know. He is the reason the Tories were forced into promising the EU referendum in 2015.
Ego Sum Lux Mundi
The Brits are in large part to blame for this themselves, government incompetence notwithstanding. They have poor personal hygiene in the main, and drink too much in public and shout and yell when they are drunk. No wonder it has spread.
