You’ll call out a doctor but not the president.

I always called Trump out and have repeatedly said, he bungled this in the beginning as well, but I’m not going to single him out when there were other players involved especially the ones we trust in the medical

The doctor is a democrat and the president is a Republican. More insight into your consistency

So what? Cuomo is a Democrat as well and bungled this as well.

White House medical experts have forecast that between 100,000 to 240,000 Americans could be killed in the pandemic, even if sweeping orders to stay home are followed.

Nobody's calling this only as bad as a seasonal flu anymore, eh?

We haven't had it confirmed that these people died with Corona or died because of it, there is a difference

It's a difference without a distinction. Consider this:

(A) If you're healthy, then get hit by the coronavirus that leads to your death

vs.

(B) If you already have other health issues, then get hit by the coronavirus that broke the camel's back and caused your health issues cup to spilleth over, leading to your death

How do ya differentiate between them?

With (A) it's easy to say the coronavirus was undeniably the cause

But with (B) If you already have other health issues - but even if you didn't already other health issues, the coronavirus could had still killed you anyway. Try proving that the coronavirus would NOT had killed you if you didn't already have other health issues (in other words, if you're healthy). That's impossible because of (A)

Because (A) already shows that the coronavirus is capable of killing even healthy individuals, so even if you're healthy and without other health issues, you can still die from it

So in the end, it's a difference without a distinction

Incorrect. You are cherry-picking one doctor

No, very correct and I’m calling out the doctor that downplayed the severity of this virus, because it’s her job to asses the possible danger of a pathogen and she didn’t do that, Trump definitely made some mistakes, but he said a lot of things he personally believes in and he’s not a doctor, but Dr. Barbot as a trained and licensed medical practitioner has an obligation to the public when it comes to the health of the nation to get it right first time.

As the global outbreak heated up in January, Barbot repeatedly assured New Yorkers their risk was “low,” and to resume normal activities with only basic precautions such as washing hands.

On Feb. 2, with the city’s first suspected coronavirus case under investigation and China’s death toll skyrocketing, Barbot touted upcoming Chinese New Year events where crowds gather shoulder-to-shoulder in city streets.

She was the one that got NY and the country into a mess being negligent

The initial problem was a lack of testing, I think. This led to misleading numbers, and so various politicians did not react appropriately.

It all goes back to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) testing debacle, and very restrictive rules the CDC initially had for testing criteria. Very likely, the current administration's budget cutting efforts targeting science and technology and specifically the CDC had an impact on the testing debacle. There were (are?) hundreds of unfilled positions at the CDC.

We need to find out, after this is over, what role the current administration's desire to make the numbers look good had in setting up the restrictive CDC guidelines that by definition ruled out detecting community spread. Only people with known contacts with travelers from China could be counted as having Covid-19.

They did not look for community spread, and so, of course, they did not find any.

These are the medical professionals we should all listen to, we did as the President and here we are.

Incorrect. You are cherry-picking one doctor that got it incorrect and ignoring the vast majority who got it correct. Donny contradicted the vast majority who were correct.

De Blasio Suggests New Yorkers Visit Movie Theaters During Pandemic

“Since I’m encouraging New Yorkers to go on with your lives + get out on the town despite Coronavirus,” de Blasio told his Twitter followers on March 3, no more than two weeks before likening the outbreak to a type of world war that required nationalizing industries.

He offered some suggestions for what New Yorkers should do instead of social distancing. “I thought I would offer some suggestions. Here’s the first: thru Thurs 3/5 go see ‘The Traitor,’” de Blasio said, referring to a 2019 crime drama about the life and times of a Mafia mob boss.

And to further that point:

Barbot “failed to take decisive actions to not only contain the virus early and flatten the curve, but her inaction has actually led to New York City becoming the epicenter of this pandemic,” City Councilmen Robert Holden and Eric Ulrich told de Blasio in a blistering letter obtained by The Post.

“Despite numerous warning signs from around the globe, Commissioner Barbot failed to keep New York City ahead of the curve. Significant research on pandemics and the spread of viruses should have been conducted early, and our city should have led the nation by taking drastic measures before any other city,” it says.

These are the medical professionals we should all listen to, we did as the President and here we are.

And the US Embassy is urging Americans in Japan to go back home because of inadequate testing... With the current situation in the US, I would definitely stay here!!!

We haven't had it confirmed that these people died with Corona or died because of it, there is a difference and it should be made public, but with body count rising so quickly we will probably never know.

Three weeks ago New Yorkers were being told to by their mayor to go about their lives in a normal fashion. Ride the subway, take the bus, go out with the family, catch a movie while your at it.

Something has come home to roost, but it sure ain't chickens.

NY Health Commissioner, 2 Feb

“As we gear up to celebrate the #LunarNewYear in NYC, I want to assure New Yorkers that there is no reason for anyone to change their holiday plans, avoid the subway, or certain parts of the city because of #coronavirus,” she tweeted.

Five days later, she declared the city had little to worry about. “We’re telling New Yorkers, go about your lives, take the subway, go out, enjoy life,” she said.

March 4:

“We know that there’s currently no indication that it’s easy to transmit by casual contact… We want New Yorkers to go about their daily lives, ride the subway, take the bus, go see your neighbors.”

"We're defying the rules because the commandment of God is to spread the Gospel," he told Reuters.

Unbelievable. But I guess Darwin is going to be proven right yet again.

This nowhere close to the apex, but I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

Gov Cuomo, Gov Newsom, and Dr Fauci have clearly shown their leadership, dedication, and expertise during this crisis...

Our "Wartime President" on the other hand has gone missing in action - or at least his brain has...

He's proved he's nothing but an incompetent bumbler, an insecure buffoon with a constant need for attention and ego-stroking...

All while Americans die...

We'll remember in Nov...

Readers, please put aside your political differences when posting comments on this thread.

The reckless disregard for the real threat of contagion shown by irresponsible politicians in some of the "red-neck" states in the Deep South is endangering the lives of the many vulnerable poor, especially blacks, exposed to the pandemic.

The United States has the world's highest number of known cases of COVID-19

A shame. Lack of preparation because of poor choices made by 'leaders' and lack of leadership in attacking the virus early on have put the country at the greatest risk seen since the US Civil War.

I should have stayed home today. Their transit system is full of rats and there are crazy homeless folks peeing and pooping openly on the street in daylight -- I saw two today alone. Just disgusting,
