"There is no possible way that the state of Texas has standing to complain about how other states counted the votes and how they are about to cast their electoral votes," Smith said.

No, not with the rigorous voter suppression they've got there.

These pathetic republitrumpys and their failed attempt to steal a fair and clean election, Trumpism is definitely the cancer of the United States and its followers are the naive blind useful sheeps..

PATHETIC SORE LOSERS !!..

Trump base desperate in their final days of Biden being declared president.

9 ( +15 / -6 )

Good luck with that. They're basically asking the Supreme Court to enter into the Legislative Branch and pick an election winner for them. The SC has already ignored an appeal sitting before them from Pennsylvania since before the election.

And by the way, be careful what you wish for. If Congress hasn't chosen a President by January 20, welcome President Pelosi. And there's no if, ands, and butts about that provision in the Constitution.

"The erosion of confidence in our democratic system isn't attributable to the good people of Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia or Pennsylvania but rather to partisan officials, like Mr. Paxton, who place loyalty to a person over loyalty to their country," Michigan's Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel said.

Absolutely.

Paxton, an ally of Trump on a range of issues, faces allegations in Texas of bribery and abuse of his office to benefit a political donor, according to local media.

Unsurprising.

Trump and his fellow Republicans are continuing their attacks on voting and elections, doing whatever they can to further undermine the democratic principles of the republic.

Trump continues to do even greater damage to the country on his march of shame back to Mar a Lago.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

Trump is an idiot. Look at his business past.

11 ( +17 / -6 )

The Arizona Republican Party has asked its followers if they are willing to die for the cause of overturning the presidential election results, eliciting alarm and criticism in response.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

So basically, the state of Texas is trying to subvert and overthrow the constitutionally elected governments of 4 other states?

Yup, state's rights and all that... hypocrites.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

It is horrifying that a developed country, over that has stood proud of it's democracy, has so many who would be willing to overturn the democratic process without credible evidence on the grounds that they don't like the result.

The America that Trump leaves is a worse place on every respect.

Remember, a fish rots from its head.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

Trump and his last followers losing all the way!

https://www.yahoo.com/news/supreme-court-refuses-hear-trump-215024516.html

Even "his judges" unanimously vote against him.

Poor baby, don't cry! You asked for it, you got it!

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Still all talk and no action. Trump followers (I don't mean regular Republicans). Are you willing to fly back to the USA, pick up arms and fight for Trump against the Liberals I a civil war against socialism? No? Then it's just whining and all talk and no action. Only people willing to fight in the Trump holly war are real Trump warriors.

2 ( +8 / -6 )

The AG of Texas is under indictment and under investigation by the FBI

13 ( +15 / -2 )

So basically, the state of Texas

Remember, among them are those who still prefer a republic of Texas to being part of the USA. Like so many of their southern neighbors, lots of Texans feel more allegiance to the states their ancestors failed to establish than they do the country as a whole.

They're losers who still back Trump, the politician who's been the biggest loser in modern history.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Trump continuing with his claims of fraud and illogical rants I can get because it's always been in his nature. However, the craziness from his base is what bothers me.

First, by only asking to upend those states that Biden won in, is clear fraud on the part of the GOP. After all, if you want to overturn those results, why not in other states that Trump won in? It's clear that the GOP and Trump want to steal this election by simply handing those states to him.

Second, by asking the Supreme Court and Trump's self-appointed conservative judges to not be conservative and disregard the laws embedded in the Constitution is really laughable. Like that would work.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Losing again and again.

It would have been better for trump’s legacy and his supporters’ mental health if he’d accepted defeat rather than embarrass himself again and again. But it’s too late for that.

Pathetic beyond imagining that this charade has gone this far already.

I expect someone to come along with a dumb comment like "70 million people disagree. Lol."

Trump may have failed to grasp that now those new conservative justices are set up for life and neither he nor his supporters can remove them, they're under no obligation whatsoever to serve his purposes.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

The King's Gambit is not going to work, Donald, you're not a king.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

If the AG of Texas has so much time on his hands, the Dems should give him something to keep him busy. Like demanding a recount of the Nov. 3 votes in Texas.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Then we have this from the Supreme Court today:

The Supreme Court rejected a Republican request to overturn election results in Pennsylvania that had already been certified and submitted.

Tuesday, December 8, 2020 5:09 PM EST

The justices said they would not block a ruling from Pennsylvania’s highest court that had rejected a challenge to the use of mail ballots in the state. The Supreme Court’s order was all of one sentence, and there were no noted dissents.

Says it all doesn't it LOL !

10 ( +13 / -3 )

ok, what next, Trump faithful?

which new grand scheme to subvert the democratic process will you bless us with today?

Guess that’s what I get for asking the question...

how ‘bout a nice thumbs up for a SCOTUS that just told Team Trump to sit and spin in Pennsylvania!

6 ( +7 / -1 )

"The application for injunctive relief presented to Justice Alito and by him referred to the Court is denied."

6 ( +7 / -1 )

I don't particularly look forward to President Biden. But then again, I wouldn't particularly look forward to a second term of President Trump. But it is what it is. Get over it and hope for the best.

Ho ho. I bet Trump will be hopping mad and firing off tweets soon about how useless his three appointees are.

The Supreme Court’s order was all of one sentence, and there were no noted dissents.

Says it all doesn't it LOL !

He's got the conservatives their SC majority, now they can wash their hands of him and there's nothing he can do about it.

NYT: In a one-sentence order, the Pennsylvania court refused to overturn election results that had already been certified and submitted.

Einstein's definiton of insanity:

6 ( +9 / -3 )

The state of Texas on Tuesday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to throw out the voting results in four other states in a long-shot legal gambit intended to help President Donald Trump upend his election loss to President-elect Joe Biden.

Nothing but a clear anti-democratic, fascist attempt to invalidate the will of the people...

These people are fascist insurrectionists, trying to destroy American democracy...

They share the same values and objectives as the Russians, Chinese, and Iranians...and should change their citizenship accordingly...

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Einstein's definiton of insanity:

Perhaps they are.

I think Trump and his Republicans know among their rabid backers are those who'll follow their instructions. Some are 'standing by', intimidating Trump's 'enemies' (see Michigan Secretary of State).

Trump and his Republicans continue their attacks on voting and elections, on the remaining bits of the democratic principles that form a part of the base of the republic.

They're among the most anti-American of any group anywhere. Xi, Putin, Erdogan and their ilk must be pleased to see what Trump and his Republicans are doing.

Can we jail the State of Texas for frivolous lawsuits?

11 ( +11 / -0 )

The GoP members pushing to overturn a valid election has shown that they are just a a bunch of third world autocrat wannabes.

The S.Ct. should take the case just to slap them in the face for being an idiot, but Texas has no standing over the laws of other states.

"There is no possible way that the state of Texas has standing to complain about how other states counted the votes and how they are about to cast their electoral votes," Smith said.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Just more conservative losers thrashing around in futile attempts to usurp the will of the people. Complete morons.

They share the same values and objectives as the Russians, Chinese, and Iranians...and should change their citizenship accordingly...

Maybe it's a pity that Denmark wasn't interested in selling Greenland. Trump could set himself up there as president for life and all his supporters and their far right-wing, gun-toting, Bible-bashing ilk could all emigrate and become citizens. They could call it "Trumpnia" or "Nagaland" or something. As they all seem to despise their fellow Americans so much it might be for the best.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

I mean Magaland.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

In the end all of these lawsuits are good. It shows how Trump's claims have no legal standing. Over, and over, and over again.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

I feel really sorry for the rational, serious-minded Texans who have to put up with their insane band of Repub political kooks....

Crazy Ted Cruz, who praises and worships a guy that said his father was a terrorist and wife ugly...

Goofy Louie Gohmert, who gets COVID and wonders if he caught it from his mask...

Now this Putin-wannabe AG Paxton who wants to tell the people in four other states that their votes don't count...

All riding the Trump Crazy Train....as it tries to demolish our democracy....

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Wow talk about wanting to look even more crazier than Trump, that man gets the prize! Watch for the loud downfall

David Gergen said, run as a shadow President until 2024

He didn't say that. There's no such position has a shadow president who would have zero powers about anything. More like a joke or clown president who still won't concede. When Reagan had alzheimer's, for 10 years, he thought he was still president and his staff continued to call hime "Mr President!" Trump will be no different.

Trump could have his day in court by providing the evidence but they are now over and his super spreader lawyer Rudy is in hospital.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

He should, it’s not about overturning this election,

Weird given every lawsuit Trump’s campaign had filed is about overturning the most secure election in American history.

>

6 ( +7 / -1 )

He didn't say that.

He sure did.

DAVID GERGEN: “Well, it does underscore the fact that there are grave splits within the White House. And, you know, Eric and Donald — listen, I think this is part of a larger plan by the president. He has in mind to have these grievances get out there, plant them in the public mind, knowing that he’s not going to succeed, that he is going to be forced out of office. But that he will leave office with some 70 million people who voted for him. A lot of them are going to back him up when he goes back into civilian life. And he will build a foundation to potentially run again. Certainly he’s building a foundation to be a shadow president. He does not want to leave the stage. You know, he’s too addicted to it, and I think this is all part of a larger scheme. You know, he’s got some possibility of — 0.001% of winning this, but I think he does leave — I think he could leave the White House being the most powerful in the Republican Party. We won’t be giving him the kind of coverage we’ve given him, but he still will have a following of immense size.”

Gergen is right and Dems should listen to him.

Actually, I now disagree. By throwing these cases out they are doing exactly that.

The Arizona Republican Party has asked its followers if they are willing to die for the cause of overturning the presidential election results, eliciting alarm and criticism in response.

I don't think most of them have the physical stamina to mount a rebellion. Between walkers, oxygen bottles, heart, blood pressure and cholesterol meds they need to take daily the logistics train they would need would be a substantial drag on their, um, operational readiness. It isn't lost on me that while demonstrators on the left uniformly march and demonstrate on foot the Trump supporters need to drive around in big pick up trucks. Too fat and decrepit to walk. So while some respond with alarm I am just shaking my head and laughing. What is the old Russian proverb, history repeats itself first as tragedy and again as farce? This would be a farce.

Goofy Louie Gohmert, who gets COVID and wonders if he caught it from his mask...

Got a laugh out of that Louie classic.

uhh, dude, if the virus was on the mask for you catch it from, that means the stupid darned mask kept the virus out of your lungs as stupid loser libs say it does...

He should, it’s not about overturning this election,

Uh, Bass, it most certainly is about overturning the election. Trump didn’t walk out on Dan frigging Gable in the middle of giving the Presidential medal of freedom cuz he’s pissed that his public service announcement wasn’t as well received as he hoped.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

I think he could leave the White House being the most powerful in the Republican Party. We won’t be giving him the kind of coverage we’ve given him, but he still will have a following of immense size.”

Not after the New York AG, the Manhattan DA and Deutsche Bank are done with him.

Trump will have to pay for his future media coverage. The MSM will ignore him. Twitter will ban him.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

The MSM will ignore him. Twitter will ban him.

And prison authorities will control his access to computers ......

Maybe these Texas Repubs should highlight the excellent work Trump has done on the border with the "wall"...

I mean, just today we learn that illegal immigrants were hired and given weapons to act as a security force at wall construction sites;

*Construction companies hired to help erect President Donald Trump’s southern border wall secretly helped armed Mexican nationals illegally cross into the U.S. while paying them to provide security detail at their construction sites, according to a whistleblower complaint unsealed Friday.*

*Sullivan Land Services Co. (SLS) and subcontractor Ultimate Concrete of El Paso are accused in the complaint of having facilitated the illegal crossings, with Ultimate Concrete allegedly creating a dirt road to allow entry from Mexico into the U.S. and covering security cameras with construction trucks.*

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/mexican-guards-hired-patrol-border-wall_n_5fcf8112c5b63a153454d803

So to help protect our border from illegal immigrants, Trump hires illegal immigrants and arms them to secure the construction of the border wall....whose purpose is to keep out illegal immigrants....

What could be more Trump...

Losing the election ( popular and electoral) and then having every frivolous lawsuit fail, even in courts run by his appointees must be keeping the outgoing rezident up at night...hope it isn't hurting his golf game. But it is a legacy that fits.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

This really has nothing to do with the election and everything to do with the fact Ken Paxton is under indictment and facing up to 90 years in jail if convicted and that he now is under a new investigation for bribery. This is his way to get Trump to notice him and get a presidential pardon.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Still doing their best to scam supporters...

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Jonathon Turley, a pro-Trump talking head routinely cited by the Trump supporters here, just said on Fox News that Trump's chances of winning his court challenges and getting re-elected are the same as "landing a 747 on a postage stamp"....

I'm guessing that means impossible...the rest of Trump-world should listen to him...
