Judge today:

It is simply not fathomable that a Constitution that grants Congress the power to remove a President for reasons including criminal behavior would deny Congress the power to investigate him for unlawful conduct—past or present—even without opening impeachment... These are facially valid legislative purposes, and it is not for the court to question whether the Committee’s actions are truly motivated by political considerations. Accordingly, the court will enter judgment in favor of the Oversight Committee.

Trump had something to hide.

Whether it is illicit or just embarrassing, we'll find out soon

15 ( +16 / -1 )

The Trumpets are going to freak out about this one.

Get ready for cries of "Obama judge", together with attacks on his character.

Humans see the world through the inner lens of their own behaviors. Hyper-partisans can only see the world as being hyper-partisan due to this inner lens, and lack the ability to view the world from an objective viewpoint. I figure this blocks them from being able to accept the logic in the judge's decision.

Quick! Get the shredder out!

We’ll blame some intern later for solely deciding to destroy the documents...

3 ( +5 / -2 )

So Congress IS a coequal branch of government! Huh, who knew? Donny et Al, ain't gonna be happy ;)

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Trump said he’d disclose these details willingly but he lied.

I can’t see why anyone would be against him being forced to do something he himself thought was important enough to lie to the electorate about.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Well, these are financial records, not his tax records, so no biggie, they thought they might lose that one anyway, but the tax records a different story, so the Dems might get frustrated again at not being able to get their hands on them. Lol

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

Hahaha. Congress can exercise oversight of the president?! What a shocker! It won't be long before Trumpophiles are here disparaging this judge as biased and oegiskatingbfrim the bench. They know simply based on the ruling.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Well, these are financial records, not his tax records, so no biggie, they thought they might lose that one anyway, but the tax records a different story, so the Dems might get frustrated again at not being able to get their hands on them. Lol

Tax info coming soon. The law that allows the chairman of the ways and means committee to request the records is very, very clear cut.

I'm sad you didn't disparage the judge as being biased and legislating from the bench because that's what you've done every time a judge rules against Donny.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Score one for checks and balances.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Here is all you need to know:

“Mehta was appointed in 2014 by Democratic former President Barack Obama, who was often investigated by Republicans in Congress during his two terms in office.”

so it’s basically an Obama appointee way to avenge the guy who gave him his job. Judge even admits he knows these will be immediately leaked once they get them.

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

So, which tax-attorney office will be catching fire to hide the data?

Gotta love karma ... and separation of powers!

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Luckily there is a 7 day appeal process where the documents can’t be released. The goal is to get these leaked somehow before the appeals court rules against Obama judge.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

Blacklabel: Here is all you need to know: “Mehta was appointed in 2014 by Democratic former President Barack Obama

We know the rules for Trump fans. Appointed by Obama = activist judge who makes rulings based on emotional, personal vendettas. Republican judges = OK.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Luckily there is a 7 day appeal process where the documents can’t be released. The goal is to get these leaked somehow before the appeals court rules against Obama judge.

HA! You people are just admitting that there is something guilty being hidden by Trump and you don't care if he broke laws, cheated Americans, and sold out the country to foreign powers.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Tax info coming soon.

I seriously doubt it, that’s a whole different can of worms, on that an Obama appointee liberal judge won’t have that power. So let’s see what the SC says.

The law that allows the chairman of the ways and means committee to request the records is very, very clear cut.

Did you feel that way about Holder?

I'm sad you didn't disparage the judge as being biased and legislating from the bench because that's what you've done every time a judge rules against Donny.

Again, these are financial records, not a big deal.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

I seriously doubt it, that’s a whole different can of worms, on that an Obama appointee liberal judge won’t have that power. So let’s see what the SC says.

Again, you guys are wiping the sweat off your forehead hoping the financial records don't show anything and the tax records are kept private, You do realize, Trump doesn't care about you. He isn't going to reward you for protecting him.

Again, these are financial records, not a big deal.

In other words, "OH thank GOD it's not his tax records. That would be incriminating..."

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Here is all you need to know:

“Mehta was appointed in 2014 by Democratic former President Barack Obama, who was often investigated by Republicans in Congress during his two terms in office.”

It never takes long for a Trumpophile to disparage the institutions that underpin our democracy when Donny doesn't get his way.

You do see thevisdie with this line of attack, correct? Barr is an angry, biased, corrupt partisan hack, so anythingvhe says cannot be trusted. Anytime a judge rules in favor of Donny, that just is legislating from the bench out of hype-partisanship.

You guys sure shot yourselves in the foot and kept our country going down the toilet with that line.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Luckily there is a 7 day appeal process where the documents can’t be released. The goal is to get these leaked somehow before the appeals court rules against Obama judge.

A deep, deep dive into right wing conspiracy territory that degrades our fundamental institutions just to protect a proven con man and compulsive liar. Yikes.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

I seriously doubt it, that’s a whole different can of worms, on that an Obama appointee liberal judge won’t have that power. So let’s see what the SC says.

The law is black letter.

Did you feel that way about Holder?

Holder didn't write the law and is not the chairman of the ways and means committee, which means your question is completely irrelevant.

Again, these are financial records, not a big deal.

Some nuance to attacking the judiciary. If Fox "News" tells me the records are no big deal, the judge is professional even though he's an Obama appointee.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Again, you guys are wiping the sweat off your forehead hoping the financial records don't show anything and the tax records are kept private,

Actually, that’s what liberals are thinking. I think the records will show the same thing about his business dealings and casinos. Other than that if the Dems want to waste their time chasing more rabbits down holes, I’m fine with it ans I think the WH is as well, the more distractions, the less the Dems can deliver on their message for trying to make America a socialist..... I mean a better place for everyone.

You do realize, Trump doesn't care about you. He isn't going to reward you for protecting him.

He cares about the country, and the Democrats they don’t care about anyone go to California and you’ll see, go to LA, go to San Francisco, go to San Diego, go to San Bernardino, go to Manhattan, go to Chicago and go to Baltimore and go to Detroit and then you’ll see on the streets how much the Democrats really care about any of these people.

In other words, "OH thank GOD it's not his tax records. That would be incriminating..."

No, more like thank God the Democrats are more distracted with rabbit hole chasing. Lol

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Other than that if the Dems want to waste their time chasing more rabbits down holes, I’m fine with it ans I think the WH is as well, the more distractions, the less the Dems can deliver on their message for trying to make America a socialist..... I mean a better place for everyone.

Than why are you and Trump so hell bent on keeping the records private? If there is nothing to hide and getting them is only going to hurt the democrats, why do you want them kept secret?

He cares about the country, and the Democrats they don’t care about anyone go to California and you’ll see, go to LA, go to San Francisco, go to San Diego, go to San Bernardino, go to Manhattan, go to Chicago and go to Baltimore and go to Detroit and then you’ll see on the streets how much the Democrats really care about any of these people.

Ha, he cares about the country...right. Good one.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

if the Dems want to waste their time chasing more rabbits down holes, I’m fine with it ans I think the WH is as well,

Yeah, the WH is fine with it, which is why it sued to block the subpoena.

He cares about the country, and the Democrats they don’t care about anyone

Demonstrably false. A helping of hyperpartisanship anyone?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

let’s see what the SC says.

The SC will not touch a dumb case like this. The law is crystal clear.

I can't for the life of me figure out why Mnuchin would want to stick out his neck for Trump on this issue. He's breaking the law.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I can't for the life of me figure out why Mnuchin would want to stick out his neck for Trump on this issue. He's breaking the law.

Why? Trump will just pardon him if it keeps him in office and out of jail. Mnuchin has nothing to worry about, if he stays loyal. Trump Mafia.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Just keep following the money.

And in the future, there should be firm agreement, if not a law, between the major political parties that anybody running for president has to disclose all of their financial records immediately. What's not to like about it? If you're Donald Trump you probably don't like it, but that's just the point and by making such an agreement (or law) the presidential race would attract a much better class of people to the highest office in the land.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

What reasons will make it difficult?

Claiming constitutional executive privilege for one.

Trump hounded him for days on this, and because there was nothing to hide, he released it.

Which was his right and his choice, as with the presidents write and choice to not to.

What's more funny, is the black communities in conservative states are even WORSE...

What’s very sad is there a more blacks in the highly urban and prosperous Democrat area City dwellings.

What plan do Republicans have to improve high taxes, high standards of living, high rent, etc in giant cities? Oh wait, didn't Trump just start taxing the poor even MORE!? That doesn't sound like he cares too much...

For one thing there is nothing that the Democrats have that can even come close to competing with trumps tax cuts and you have more jobs than you have people to fill them, so the Democrats can try and run a debt, but good luck. The president may not be that popular with a lot of liberals but his economic policies are at 56% that’s no chump change.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

The SC will not touch a dumb case like this. The law is crystal clear.

Oh I doubt that and I don’t think the last crystal clear on that one, but the Democrats can try, and try, and try. Lol

I can't for the life of me figure out why Mnuchin would want to stick out his neck for Trump on this issue. He's breaking the law.

Maybe he thinks the way the rest of us are thinking that the Democrats I just driven by power and nothing else it will do anything to tear down a duly elected president to achieve more power and he probably thinks he’ll do anything to fight their corrupted souls and I wouldn’t blame him

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Financial records for the last decade are nothing more than looking for dirt to use in the election. How about whoever leaks them and anyone who then publishes them goes to prison for 10 years? Then I am fine with then being released.

This ruling will be overturned like everything else these Obama judges do.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

What’s very sad is there a more blacks in the highly urban and prosperous Democrat area City dwellings.

Wrong...a simple google search would have helped you out there...

No, it’s very relevant and you cannot make a case against it, I’ve never seen a liberal that could. And if you can’t name me a sprawling urban black community that is on par with orange county or Beverly Hills or Pacific Heights, or San Diego under Democrat control.

Can you name a sprawling urban black community that is thriving and wealthy in a red state? Nope, didn't think so.

Keep on rolling your pathetic race ball.

Financial records for the last decade are nothing more than looking for dirt to use in the election. How about whoever leaks them and anyone who then publishes them goes to prison for 10 years? Then I am fine with then being released.

Yes, you should decide the rule of land Mr. Blacklabel. Lol

3 ( +4 / -1 )

GOOD!!! Impeach him for this and ALL of his crimes. Make him accountable.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Financial records for the last decade are nothing more than looking for dirt to use in the election. How about whoever leaks them and anyone who then publishes them goes to prison for 10 years? Then I am fine with then being released.

How about they are published in line with due process rather than leaked? Then no need to leak anything.

Or even better, why doesn't Trump willingly publish everything? If he has nothing to hide it should not be a problem.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Going down, down, down . . . In a burning ring of fire.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

so the Democrats can try and run a debt,

What are the deficits under Donny?

Maybe he thinks the way the rest of us are thinking that the Democrats I just driven by power and nothing else it will do anything to tear down a duly elected president to achieve more power and he probably thinks he’ll do anything to fight their corrupted souls and I wouldn’t blame him

Trar doen the system and drain the swamp! Sound familiar?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Congress is on a quest to"turn up something that Democrats can use as a political tool against the president now and in the 2020 election."

As opposed to being on a quest to actually do something for the American people.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

As opposed to being on a quest to actually do something for the American people.

They aren't mutually exclusive.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Sorry? What was that? It was hard to hear you over the still deafening roars of the calls for Trump to be investigated even after being exonerated by Mueller's 2 year plus investigation.

Someone has no idea what's in Mueller's report.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

So what exactly have the Dems done for the American people since January?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Wrong...a simple google search would have helped you out there...

I did and it stated the same thing.

Can you name a sprawling urban black community that is thriving and wealthy in a red state? Nope, didn't think so.

I wasn’t talking about Red States, I’m talking about the Blue States, most Blacks vote Democrat, so what has the party done for them and their community.

https://www.tamerasgrove.com/blog/2018/7/7/how-the-democrats-destroyed-the-black-communityand-no-one-noticed

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

What exactly did they block from happening and how does help people who need things to get done.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

So let’s just keep doing nothing, thanks Dems.

“Democrats are growing skeptical about working withPresident Trump on an infrastructure deal, fearing it would help him score political points as he campaigns for reelection.”

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

The US President should be someone that the people of the US trust, yes?

By working so hard to hide things, President Trump isn't helping himself.

I gave him a few years, hoping he would become "Presidential." That never happened. The man is a liar and he lies about stupid things, for no reason. I don't trust him and think he's committed multiple unethical actions while in office.

He was voted in to change things, teach the life-time politicians from every other party how to get things done and be transparent. I'm so very disappointed. Not just in Trump, but in the 15% of nasty Trump-uber-alles fans. Trump is using his office like a personal job, trading favors like a thug. That's why he prefers talking with Putin and Kim, but dislikes leaders who actually represent their people. I'm sorta shocked that he didn't have kissing dates with every other dictator in the world, including Maduro.

This isn't about "activists judges." Clearly Congress has oversight over the President. It is seldom needed, but when it is, like now, at least it keeps Trump busy so he doesn't make more under-the-table deals.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Seems like he has won already. He has forever changed the face of American politics.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

So what exactly have the Dems done for the American people since January?

Nothing

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Nothing

Limiting the damage Donny and his supporters are doing to our institutions and the Constitution is nothing? Trumpophiles are odd.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Chip Star - The law is black letter.

Some people claim to be lawyers. Any lawyer should know that this judge's ruling can, and will be, appealed. And appealed again.

My question is why this judge was in such a hurry to hear this case, and to issue his anti-Trump ruling? It sounds to me as if Trump Derangement Syndrome suffering Democrats are trying to find something/anything that they can use in order to stop Barr's investigation of the investigators who used the unverified/unverifiable Steele dossier to overthrow the President who beat Hillary.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

The House Oversight Committee claims sweeping investigative power and says it needs Trump's financial records to examine whether he has conflicts of interest or broke the law by not disentangling himself from his business holdings

Elected Democrats are hoping that this latest request will finally uncover something tangible, something better than their usual misinformation propaganda, which will finally allow them to do something other than babble about impeachment.
