Duda said at their joint news conference that he would name the base "Fort Trump,"

Good grief . . .

Duda said at their joint news conference that he would name the base "Fort Trump,"

In other words Trump continues to sell his brand name, lending credence to those who claimed that was one of the goals of his political career.

Sucking up to Poland, give me a break.

Never mind this nonsense, when is Donald Trump going to pay a visit to the U.S. Military Troops in the battle zones overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, every President in my lifetime and since FDR visited troops in the war zone; NOT DONALD TRUMP!

Bush, Obama, Biden, made multiple visits to the troops in the front lines, Trump has not even come close to going...…..what's wrong with this coward.

Next he will name an aircraft carrier after him.

Can you imagine naming a US military base after a 5-time draft dodger?  Mind-boggling...

Fort Trump: Renown for its golf course, Playboy Club and hookers....

While I can understand this move, once again Trump makes it toxic straight out the gate.

"We're looking at it very seriously, I know Poland likes the idea very much, and it's something that we are considering, yes," he said.

Oddly, not a single one of my Polish friends "likes the idea very much". What one or two of them said is unrepeatable here.

Brand Trump, the ego. At a country near you, soon.

Great move, about time.

Great move, about time.

I hope there will be the same resistance (now, as then) against this latest attempt to force an empire on not just Poland but any country that the US, Russia or China decides to grace with their presence.

Great move, about time.

Only if Poland pays its fair share, correct?

Empire???? Lol

on not just Poland but any country that the US, Russia or China decides to grace with their presence.

Yeah, uh-huh...

Poland has been abused and run by plenty of rotten empires over its existence. Could be another case of Stockholm syndrome at work but I do hope the people will reject this.

Empire???? Lol

Precisely what it is. And all empires crumble. The US will not be the first, nor the last.

Can't blame Poland too much - it's a country that vanished on the world maps several times in history due to being picked apart by its neighbors

Heck, Hitler and Stalin made a pact to do just that. Then immediately followed by being annexed by the Iron Curtain

The Poles want and welcome the help of the US both countries are long allies and both can mutually benefit from each other.

The US is not an Empire, never was and never has been. Every time I hear that from the Marxist and leftists

The Poles and the US have only been allies since the fall of the Soviet Union. That is hardly a long time.

The US is an empire, just not in the sense that the U.K. was. It's more indirect, but still an empire. Acknowledging such has zero to do with Marxists or leftists.

That would depend on your perception of time. If you were born between the late sixties through the eighties and beyond, you will view it as a long time ago.

The US is an empire,

No, it is not and for the life of me, I don’t get how far left liberals think that. We are a republic.

just not in the sense that the U.K. was. It's more indirect, but still an empire. Acknowledging such has zero to do with Marxists or leftists.

Actually, it doesn’t because when I talk to far left progressives they always scream it.

Are Max Boot and Niall Ferguson Marxists and leftists?

Have you ever heard of Manifest Destiny?

When conservatives are demonstrated to be incorrect, the try to sidestep by saying something is relative. Brilliant.

Let's have a little intellectual honesty and admit "a long time" in the sense of being allies is more along the lines of the US/UK, US/France, US/Saudi alliances. You know, how everyone not in the conservative fantasyland thinks. ROFL.

No, it is not and for the life of me, I don’t get how far left liberals think that. We are a republic.

Being a republic and being an empire are not mutually exclusive. By your logic, France ceased to be an empire when it became a republic. Literate people know better.

Actually, it doesn’t because when I talk to far left progressives they always scream it.

That is a completely irrelevant response to this:

The US is an empire, just not in the sense that the U.K. was. It's more indirect, but still an empire. Acknowledging such has zero to do with Marxists or leftists.

What did we learn here? That intellectual honesty and relevant responses are necessary for adult conversations.
