No, WeChat is taking a page out of the CCP handbook

If the WeChat acts as a propaganda platform for the CCP, then it should be treated as such.

Time for ban or at least restrictions on this platform which promotes CCP lies!!!

The United States called China's use of the digitally manipulated image a "new low" in disinformation.

Under Trump, I can't say that this a new low or that the USgovt has much credibility now.

"As the CCP spreads disinformation, it covers up its horrendous human rights abuses, including the detention of more than a million Muslims in Xinjiang," Brown wrote in a tweet.

Is very true. Certainly a WeChat disinformation campaign could be sponsored using Russian and Ukrainian experts for relatively little money.

More CCP villainy. Disruption, treachery and under handedness...

As China has intensified its intimidation against Australia, it is time for Australia to ban WeChat and all other Chinese social media platforms.

There is no one more morally and righteously outraged at being criticized and ridiculed than those who self righteously claim that they have the right to criticize and ridicule others from the moral high ground they deceive themselves as holding.

PS Taiwan, or at least those who, when the Chinese people revolted against their corrupt, repressive regime, fled China and denied the Taiwanese people their own country, is the one who insists that it is not only part of China, but the rulers of China. The Chinese insistence that Taiwan is therefore part of China, not a separate self governing country is therefore a counterclaim.

Sigh, That was maybe true forty years ago but not today. Only a minority of die-hard KMT members cling to that fantasy. Most Taiwanese alive today have never lived anyplace but Taiwan and have no attachment to China. They in fact see themselves as different from mainlanders.

The CCPs insistence that Taiwan is part of China has deeper roots. If you look at China's history it hasn't been a unified country for most of its existence. Through most of its history it was composed of multiple kingdoms run by warloards constantly fighting among themselves to expand their territory and power. Plus there were multiple occasions of China being invaded and controlled by non-Chinese. Sun Yat-Sen rallied the Chinese against the Qing Dynasty in part because they were Mongols and not Han Chinese. But while Sun defeated the Qing the first Republic of China was short lived and soon dissolved into two competing armed camps. That gave Mao and the Communists their first opening, but it was that internal warfare in the KMT that allowed the the Europeans and Japan to dominate China. China would not be unified under Han Chinese rule until Mao beat Sun's successor Chiang Kai-shek in 1949. The remnants of Chiangs forces along with many well off Chinese who feared Mao for good reason then fled to Taiwan. My wife's family was a little too late and ended up stuck inside China. They would suffer greatly later on under the Red Guards.

If the west were smart they would require Facebook and all other western social media to ban all Chinese government officials and their families from their respective social media platforms. Deny these "wolf warriors" their megaphone.

And this is why people don't trust Chinese tech companies - their CCP government has them by the balls at home whether they like it or not
