Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman said she favored reopening her city, a gambling hub... She said she believed competition within free enterprise would wipe out any business that contributed to the pathogen's spread.

Such naive faith in free markets. Free markets have never sorted this kind of thing out.

That photo is hilarious. Another Trump supporter that doesn’t mind demonstrating their ignorance, which we can see is quite deep because that dude thinks communism and socialism are forms of government instead of economic models.

I love photos of poorly educated people in the morning. It smells like . . . Like stupidity.

21 ( +30 / -9 )

The man in the photo's holding a sign quoting Trump saying America will never be a socialist country.

While the Trump admin continues to expand on America's decades old 'socialistic' programs.

Given the way Trump's personally leading some of those programs, directly involved in deciding which corporations get how much and even how much his own corporations get, it looks like he's pushing a modern version of national socialism. How's that worked out in the past?

I would walk you through your error again, but the previous lessons haven’t taken.

"Everything I disagree with is Communism"

These protesters in the photo like this one are the very definition of "sheeple" that they love to complain about.

Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp is allowing gyms, hair salons, bowling alleys and tattoo and massage parlors to reopen on Friday, followed by movie houses and restaurants next week.

I wish them luck. I really, really do.

@wolfpackThere are people willing to sacrifice themselves and potentially their families because they are getting desperate.

I completely agree. To me that desperation shows the fundamental weaknesses of America's economic system.

I'm NOT blaming it all on Trump. But he's sure doing all he can to keep the top on top.

When 80% (Google yourself) of the population live paycheck to paycheck, when their buying power decreases as costs increase, when more than 10% live below poverty lines, when the 1% control 80% of the nation's wealth, something's fundamentally wrong with the political-economic system.

And when the executive takes personal control over who benefits most in the political-economic system, when the executive decides which corporations get the most from the system, when the executive uses his office to ensure the businesses he and his family own benefit, I'll stick with my previous statement.

It should be an individual choice.

You want to go outside... go outside.

That’s Liberty and respect for Individual Rights and Freedoms.

No one says you cannot go out, they just say if you do, you must keep your social distance. You have a right to you thoughts, you don't have the right to endanger other people. This includes the people that have to put you on a ventilator.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

@PTownsend: ...it looks like he's pushing a modern version of national socialism. How's that worked out in the past?

I was with you until you started with the allusions to Hitler’s Nazi Germany. The level of unpaid for spending supported by both parties and President Trump is a tragedy of enormous proportions that will eventually contribute to tremendous misery for the average American citizen.

But the spending underscores an important point. People need money to survive. To survive they must work. Those of us fortunate enough to have white collar jobs who can work from home behind a keyboard in our pajamas should not discount the fear faced by blue collar workers right now. They are out of work and are suffering as a result.

Maybe if the US and other developed nations were not already carrying massive amounts of government debt they could have borrowed enough to give out to those of work to see them through. America had a $23 trillion debt a month ago. It just jumped by another $3 trillion. Poof - just like that. Annual budget deficits have been averaging about $1 trillion a year since the end of Bush 2’s presidency due to a structural budgeting problem. This imbalance will continue indefinitely because politicians are paralyzed to do anything about it. It already costs an amount half the military budget just to pay the annual interest on the debt. To me that’s unconscionable. Should interest rates spike - and eventually they will - it will get ugly very fast. The debt has risen similarly in many European countries and Japan.

There are people willing to sacrifice themselves and potentially their families because they are getting desperate. There are plenty of safety precautions that can been taken to minimize the risks. But risk cannot be avoided completely. I support reasonable precautions and a gradual adaptation to the pandemic so economic activity - which is absolutely critical for people’s livelihood - can resume to the greatest extent possible. Put yourself in the shoes of a person who works in a blue collar or service profession.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

This is the cost of having no national strategy to deal with the pandemic and a President who has wasted all his credibility on unrealistic happy talk and touting BS miracle cures - nobody trusts him. The states are just going their own ways now without any coordination or plan. Is NY right to extend the lockdown, or are southern states right to be lifting it? Somebody is wrong, and since people can travel freely across state borders, the overall US situation is only going to be as good as the state with the worst approach.

Yet another reason the world watches America with horror at how badly it is faring in this.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Black: You seem to think it’s only an economic issue and appear to be intentionally ignoring the health risks. Carry on complaining about safety measures in the US from Japan.

What form of government did the former Soviet Union have?

An authoritarian one.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Wolfpack: Did you notice in the article that you linked where it pointed out that most governments that claim to be socialist or communist are actually authoritarian? Ignorant people, like the guy in the photo and Trump, constantly conflate these.

Some people don’t understand that essential services are still running, which includes food deliveries, farmers, gun stores, etc.

His actions and the crowd he associates with.

but food deliveries, farmers, maintenance? Nope, I think they all can and should go back to work

They haven't stopped.

But these Democrats don't want the people to work or even try to work with medical officials to make better and safer ways for that to happen. They just want to continue this lockdown and could care less about their lives.

Straight from the conservative media, Democrats and their ulterior motives.

Do you know why Michigan is on lockdown? It's not because of the virus, heaven's no. It's because of the sinister plan by the governor:

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/tucker-carlson-heres-why-whitmer-wants-michigan-residents-quiet-and-subservient-during-coronavirus-crisis

"She wants her citizens quiet and subservient. Why? Because quiet and subservient people won't interfere with what she plans to do. And what is she planning to do? Well, merge the state government of Michigan with the state Democratic Party."

See? It's not about science at all.

Another poster here claims the Dems are doing it because they want to intentionally hurt the country to make Trump look bad, not because we only have a tiny fraction of testing done and have no idea how pervasive the disease is.

These darn scientists are just promoting their liberal agendas.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

It should be an individual choice.

I agree, except when an individual's presence could endanger the health and even lives of other individuals. Which anyone who's been objective and isn't just flaming could see has happened repeatedly around the world.

And re individual choices, wouldn't it be nice to think those living in authoritarian states like China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran and others could make decisions for themselves and not have the state have so much control over them.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

I wish them luck. I really, really do.

Let conservatives sleep in the beds they make.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Yeah not like I would actually own businesses and have employees in the USA that this negatively affects. Employees who daily ask when they can go back to work as they only got $1200.

I forgot that every Donny fan on this website runs a Fortune 500 company. My apologies.

But carry on with this "its not safe to go to work" but its perfectly safe to allow permanent immigrants line of "reasoning". Its the trap Trump set for all of you and you fell right in.

You’re directing this comment at the incorrect person because I never made such a claim, so I guess I avoided the stable genius’ super-secret trap.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

Nice pic of the Flu Klux Klan at it again.

When they say, "we want barbers open, we want restaurants open, we want movie theatres open", what they mean is: they want YOU to go bac to work and risk YOUR life so THEY can have a night out.

Same ol' right-wing selfishness.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

This pandemic will, I hope, result in science stock rising and stupidity stock falling (like Trump meeting former patients who had recovered from Covid-19, and pressing some on whether they or their loved ones had used the "snake oil" he's been touting.

“So you took the hydroxy?” he asked. “Why did you take the hydroxy? Why did you do that? You saw it on television?”)

. Neoliberal capitalism has clearly hit a wall and consumer society is going on "Big Gov'mint" life support. After the pandemic has subsided (2021-2?) some form of basic income will probably become necessary to rehabilitate society while the economy is dealing with its PTSD, and all those flag-waving folk in the photo will be only too happy to have their "communism" and eat it.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I’m just siding with the people that’s all.

12% of the people.

Not in the real States that haven’t been hit the hardest, let’s clarify that.

What? What are "real States"? Are there fake states now??

but his objections to this lockdown is helping him..a lot.

Except, like explained several times here and everywhere, only 12% of americans actually went the lockdown to stop. Twelve percent. How is siding with 12% of the people "helping him...a lot"???

Let me try to explain things cleary : if there was a presidential election tomorrow in the US, and Trump was running on the "LIBERATE AMERICA !!!!" campaign only, pushing all states to reopen immediately, he would get... 12% of the vote. 12% is not a majority at all, it is a very small minority. He would lose that election.

So I still don't see how this is helping him.

OK, have you ever thought that your desire to open up things now is based on the fact that your business is shut down and not on science?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

this is helping Trump and the Dems once again are giving him a sweet hand.

Please explain how armed protests of a very small minority of people, whose opinions are opposed by the vast majority of americans, help these supporters and the president? Because I really don't understand. I think nobody does except you?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

It would seem so. The interesting thing is, when Cuomo repeats what the President says, he gets no pushback, Trump says it, pile on time. Both men want the country in certain sectors to re-open and they’re both right.

Yeah, its weird.  Its almost like one of them still has credibility and therefore people are willing to take what he says at face value as the product of reasonable deliberation, while the other has been squandered every ounce of credibility he has on this by telling everyone this was just a flu that would miraculously go away in April, that warnings about it were just a Dem hoax, that OK its not a hoax but my response is perfect, absolutely perfect and all the scientists they can't believe how smart I am and they tell me, you know, they say "Wow, you are a genius I can' t believe you smart you are at this" and then I say to them, I go you know, I have an uncle who was a scientist.  And then you know its so beautiful, there is the miracle cure out there Hydroxychloroquine and maybe it works, maybe it doesn't but let me tell you it works and just go and take it, why not? I mean, why not, what have you got to lose right?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Uh, they're specifically talking about Confederate flags. Why do you guys on the right support them? Why do you love traitors?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Should Americans continue to be under stay at home orders and why?

Yes, because we haven’t gotten this pandemic thing under control yet.

Should legal immigration be paused or continue and why?

Paused because we haven’t gotten this pandemic thing under control yet and it’s stretching our resources already. We should focus as many resources on getting this pandemic thing under control before we start expending resources on immigration. Immigration requires people to go to work and process immigrants, which would put people at risk of this pandemic thing.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Ignoring experts is going to get people killed. They are called experts for a reason.

Exactly. You are, however, expecting people that deny facts and eschew logic to accept that others know more than they do.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

A substantial portion of the population going out and resuming their non-essential to society jobs (hair cuts are not essential) only will increase the number of patients. Given that they are finding that the virus has mutated into more virulent strains (https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=12326324), why do you want to give this thing more available targets than it already has?

We've been seeing vaccine-escape mutants popping up for measles for sometime (https://www.hindawi.com/journals/av/2014/205617/) now and it's obvious that limiting the number of potential "factories" for the virus to propagate and mutate within is important. This only complicates the development of an effective vaccine.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Should Americans continue to be under stay at home orders and why?

Yes they should, because all medical experts say it's too soon to relieve the restrictions yet. At the same time, the government should be devising ways to expand testing and make it available everywhere so that the reopening of the country can be done sooner. And also think about economical plans that would help the growing number of people who lost their jobs and keep them afloat until the country reopens.

Should legal immigration be paused or continue and why?

It shouldn't, because it's a non-issue. Legal immigration had already come to a sreeching halt when the pandemic started, with "travel from China, parts of Europe and Iran mostly banned and most state department visa services suspended". To put things simply: very, very few legal immigrants were and are coming. So announcing a ban on green cards is just a ploy to make it sound like there were millions of people coming to take american jobs and the president bravely put a stop to it. It's political gesticulating that only serves to appease and content his base of racist supporters.

I will ask you a question related to this though : this ban will effectively ban green cards for children trying to be with their parents already living here. And students looking to get an education. Children and students do not take american jobs (since they don't work), so how do you justify this sweeping ban for them?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

more people are revolting against this and the Democrats are continuing digging a very deep political hole for themselves. This helps Trump, the Democrats are giving him another win and don't even realize it.

It's interesting to see you write this sort of thing. Are you trying to convince yourself of what you are saying by repeating it over and over? Unfortunately it won't make it true in our shared reality. Like another article on this very website states:

"Few Americans support easing virus protections

Only 12% of Americans say the measures where they live go too far. About twice as many people, 26%, believe the limits don’t go far enough. The majority of Americans — 61% — feel the steps taken by government officials to prevent infections of COVID-19 in their area are about right."

12% of americans is a very small number. This does not help Trump at all in any form, except in the eyes of this "12%".

I want to thank the republican governor of Georgia for allowing his state to be a lab test for the rest of the nation on when to safely to re-open the economy during a pandemic. What a picture - "American will never be a socialist country" - I have news for you Joe, you voted for the first socialist President in 2017 when you voted for Trump. He gives government money to anyone - all on the nations' credit card.

Billions in farm subsidies, trillions on government bailouts - and he's working on more now. Bernie and Elizabeth couldn't out-socialize this President. It's no longer the GOP - it's the GOM - Guardians of Marx...

let a good crisis go to waste.”

You keep citing this as an example of political cynicism (I surmise?), so of course I went at looked at a full quote. And to noone's surprise, it's actually very reasonable:

“Never allow a crisis to go to waste,” Emanuel said. “Start planning for the future. This has to be the last pandemic that creates an economic depression. We're going to have more pandemics, but this has to be the last economic depression.”

"Never allow a crisis to go to waste" in this context means that you should use the crisis to better prepare for the next one. Which seems a very valid point.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

You need to watch the wording in polls. What do you infer from this?

You need to find out what the wording is. Here's the poll:

https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6842659-200203-NBCWSJ-April-Poll-4-19-20-Release.html

And here's the exact wording of that question:

Which worries you more about responding to the coronavirus and restrictions that require most Americans to shelter in place and only leave their homes for essential needs:

That the United States will move too quickly in loosening restrictions and the virus will continue to spread

with more lives being lost.

That the United States will take too long in loosening restrictions and the economic impact will be even

worse with more jobs being lost.

It specifically says "worries" about both. No "concerns" in there - that was editorialising.

But good work on all that research you claim to do!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

You need to watch the wording in polls. What do you infer from this?

You mean this?

https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/public-global-health/493556-poll-almost-6-in-10-concerned-about-us-reopening-too

Almost six in 10 respondents in a new poll say they are concerned about the U.S. reopening too quickly during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Republican pollster Bill McInturff, who helped conduct the poll, told NBC that the results represent a “powerful signal” that the country is not ready to reopen on May 1."

I infer that the majority of americans think that the country should not reopen too quickly, and care more about the country's health than the country's economy.

Yet you clearly said, "[My] Employees who daily ask when they can go back to work as they only got $1200." You mean they only got $1,200 in addition to their regular paychecks? Odd thing to say. No, they do not, but since they don’t have the numbers of infections or deaths like NY or CA they should be allowed to return to work in certain industries.

Whoops, Trump just did a U-turn on that too, now he's saying states shouldn't re-open and he strongly disagrees with Georgia's plan to do so. Guess you'll have to adjust your world-view to accommodate that flip flop accordingly.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Oh like this flag?

No, not like this flag, because that is a nazi flag. Also, what "left media" was it reported by? Because I've never seen that image on MSNBC. It just says "As social media lit up with comments and photographs of the event, one image supposedly showing a flag bearing a swastika flag and the words “Trump” and “Pence” started to go viral."

Please do not tell me you are confusing "social media" with actual media?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

You think we believe one skewed sided poll of a few people? How many were polled? None of my family members were polled by anyone, so my question is, we don’t know exactly for sure on either side

You can be sure, because you can read the poll where they detail their sampling data.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

great, but its not 12% is it? there are 42% who think the opposite. So different polls say different things.

But they don't really say different things now, do they?

12% is the number of people who think the lockdown measures go too far.

32% (not 42%, and I will give you the benefit of the doubt and passe this as a type miss) is the number of people who think the country takes too long to reopen.

The two are not mutually exclusive and the number are not paradoxical in any way. The 12% are certainly part of that bigger 32%. Of the minority of people who are worried about the economy over health, 12% think the lockdown goes too far, whereas 20% think it was acceptable but needs to stop soon.

But overall, the majority of americans still favour having a lockdown over reopening the economy too soon.

oh so social media (by blue checkmark journalists who work for the "actual" media) is not media now? Thats a quite strange way to parse words. Social media isnt media. got it. It just has the word media IN the name.

"Social media" means people sharing images and "information" on facebook and Twitter. It is not not the same journalism/entertainment (that you usually imply when talking about "left media") at all. I would never try to pass the opinion of a random guy on Twitter saying Obama is a muslim as "right media". But when Fox News runs a story about how Obama wearing african clothes means he's a muslim, that is an example of the "right media" peddling lies. Do you understand the difference?

https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/michigan-residents-protest-gretchen-whitmer-220814578.html

Michigan Residents Protest Gretchen Whitmer’s Orders With Nazi & Confederate Flags

"While some wore protective masks, many defied social distancing recommendations to remain six feet apart and donned offensive signs like Nazi-nods with the word “Heil Witmer” on them. "

This is a thing that happened, yes.

Does this article contian the image that you intially posted? Of the Bernie supporter holding a "Trump Pence" nazi flag? No, it doesn't. It only contains an image of a Trump supporter holding a "Heil Witmer" sign with a swastika on it.

So you just posted something to prove a point that didn't prove your point at all.

"About 100 people gathered Sunday at the Bourne Rotary in protest of coronavirus-related restrictions, urging the governor and public officials to end the shutdown and “reopen Cape Cod.”

United Cape Patriots, a local grass-roots conservative group, sponsored the rally."

What are you trying to say by posting this? Cape Cod has a population of 215,888 people, and a hundred are protesting the lockdown. That's 0.04% of the population. Anymore examples of this "growing" dissent?

More of Donny’s great leadership:

“I told the governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, that I disagree, strongly, with his decision to open certain facilities which are in violation of the phase one guidelines for the incredible people of Georgia,” Trump said at a briefing of the White House coronavirus task force, adding, “At the same time, he must do what he thinks is right.”

Every single day we get further evidence of Donny’s incompetence. My dog could lead better than this imbecile.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

@bas4fTrump never instigated that,

So what did Trump mean by sending out LIBERATE tweets. Maybe his most loyal supporters can explain what he meant by 'liberate' translating from alt right/Trump-speak to a version of American English.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

And "concerned" and "worried! I believe are something called synonyms, in that they mean the same thing.

You were arguing just now that they were different, and that people being "concerned" meant they wanted to reopen, not that they were "worried". Now you think they're the same. You're as consistent here as you were with your commentary on Bloomberg.

Because obviously if someone from "your side! pretended to be on "our side" would they not do the same thing with a Confederate flag?

Have you ever met a conspiracy theory you haven't loved? Which is more probable: that a member of the GOP, who regularly virtue signal their support and beloved memories of the treasonous Confederacy, flew a Confederate flag, or that it was a triple-dog dare false flag operation?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

You think we believe one skewed sided poll of a few people?

When they're in your favor, yeah you absolutely believe them. Funny thing, isn't it?

None of my family members were polled by anyone

You do realize that's not how polls work? You don't poll every person living in America, that would be very time-consuming and practically impossible to do. You poll samples that best represent the american voters/people. So even though your family wasn't polled, people who have the same views as your family have been.

But if you're so wary of these polls, you can always do one yourself. Try phoning 100 people randomly throughout america and ask them what they think about reopening the country. Don't forget to ask them for their age/background/profession and so on to get a better understanding of the results.

And it seems that the Dems are definitely using this pandemic to their advantage.

So you're claiming the pandemic is helping the democrats now? You spent the whole morning saying it helped Trump.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

the $1200 from the government coronavirus stimulus payment obviously.

That's all they got, as you put it? In additional to their full time checks you are paying?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Oh, stop! You guys do the same thing

Right. You post polls. We post polls. Neither of us give background information on the polls or ask if anyone from someone's family has been polled. I just find it odd that you demand this extra information before you will believe any polls from us when you don't provide that information for your polls.

I know you don’t believe for one moment that with each passing day the people are just going to sit by and wait this out. That’s not going to happen. There are growing cracks in the wall already.

You bet there are cracks in the walls. People want to be able to lead normal lives. The question is when. I personally think Georgia opening up movie theatres and restaurants is going to come back to haunt them. Even Trump says this is too much (but he will partially walk that back tomorrow).

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Good point. According to whom? Liberals?

Look, it's not that big of a deal. You can question every poll we present while expecting us to accept every poll you present.

I like the challenge and I'm happy to do that for you.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Chip Star: that dude thinks communism and socialism are forms of government instead of economic models.

What form of government did the former Soviet Union have? Of course it depends on perspective. Some regard Communism and Socialism as governing systems and not just economic models. Not a totally false way of looking at it.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.livescience.com/amp/33027-what-are-the-different-types-of-governments.html

0 ( +6 / -6 )

I see Trump is against the Georgia Republican governor's plan to reopen barber shops, hair salons and tattoo parlors now. Does he get any points for that? Guaranteed if he supported it, he would be lambasted here.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Jsapc - Yes they should, because all medical experts say it's too soon to relieve the restrictions yet.

….It shouldn't, because it's a non-issue. Legal immigration had already come to a sreeching halt when the pandemic started, with "travel from China, parts of Europe and Iran mostly banned and most state department visa services suspended". To put things simply: very, very few legal immigrants were and are coming.

...I will ask you a question related to this though : this ban will effectively ban green cards for children trying to be with their parents already living here. And students looking to get an education. Children and students do not take american jobs (since they don't work), so how do you justify this sweeping ban for them?

If "it's too soon to relieve the restrictions yet", and "legal immigration had already come to a screeching halt", are you're choosing to complain about "children and students", or anything, and everything, that Trump does?

Schools in the U.S. are closed, and probably will be for the remainder of the current semester, if not longer. Maybe those "students looking to get an education" can take a class online?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

No, not like this flag, because that is a nazi flag.

Ol’ Glory is a Nazi flag?? What? Oh, my lord.....

Also, what "left media" was it reported by? Because I've never seen that image on MSNBC. It just says "As social media lit up with comments and photographs of the event, one image supposedly showing a flag bearing a swastika flag and the words “Trump” and “Pence” started to go viral."

Lol, uh-Huh...

So what did Trump mean by sending out LIBERATE tweets. Maybe his most loyal supporters can explain what he meant by 'liberate' translating from alt right/Trump-speak to a version of American English.

Trump didn’t instigate anything, he’s just agreeing with the people and giving his opinion, now he would be instigating it if he would say “get up, rise up and stand up for your rights!”

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Jsapc - What are you trying to say by posting this? Cape Cod has a population of 215,888 people, and a hundred are protesting the lockdown. That's 0.04% of the population. Anymore examples of this "growing" dissent?

What percentage of the population are usually selected for most polls? 1,000+ people polled out of how many possible people?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Wait until people don’t have enough money to buy food!

Desperation and guns are a terrible thing...

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

They have to open the economy because the IRS needs receipts to pay the gov.

The USA, for better or worse, has an empire all over the world, to include Japan

Japans security is provided for by the US, so they can concentrate their tax receipts on

infrastructure, which many goofy libs here celebrate as an example to point at.

You cant have both; that is a huge empire with military pensions and spend trillions on infrastructure projects,

like Japan does.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

certainly. based on the location of the branches, the low morbidity rate overall, and the fact that not one person in the company has contracted symptomatic corona. the economic part is not part of any reopening equation for us.

Its not science that is demanding closures, it is politics. Dr Fauci is not the only scientist in the entire country. But Joe Biden says he is the only person who should be allowed to speak. (ummmm....Dr Birx, who is female? oops Joe thats not nice)

People who want to go back to work should be allowed to and those who want to stay home some more can keep drawing unemployment. People are concerned about their jobs and careers and I am concerned about mental health, the economy and the risk to employees. All these need to be considered equally as this is not simply just a health issue but an economic one.

OK, have you ever thought that your desire to open up things now is based on the fact that your business is shut down and not on science?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

so the only poll taken was this 12% one that you love cause it follows along with your opinion?

There are many other polls that say different things that you wont want to hear.

Also, someone saying I am "concerned" with reopening too soon does not mean that they want to stay closed.

You need to watch the wording in polls. What do you infer from this?

"The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found 58 percent of respondents said they are more concerned about the reopening of the economy than how the stay-at-home orders are affecting the country’s economy. A total of 32 percent are more worried about the economy, and the U.S. taking too long to reopen."

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Is it really though? Please post poll numbers showing that it's growing, otherwise it's really hard to believe you.

You think we believe one skewed sided poll of a few people? How many were polled? None of my family members were polled by anyone, so my question is, we don’t know exactly for sure on either side, but what we do know for certain is, the cries are growing louder for the shutdown to end and where that will go, we just don’t know.

“Never allow a crisis to go to waste,” Emanuel said. “Start planning for the future. This has to be the last pandemic that creates an economic depression. We're going to have more pandemics, but this has to be the last economic depression.”

And it seems that the Dems are definitely using this pandemic to their advantage. Bravo!

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

great, but its not 12% is it? there are 42% who think the opposite. So different polls say different things.

I infer that the majority of americans think that the country should not reopen too quickly, and care more about the country's health than the country's economy.

And "concerned" and "worried! I believe are something called synonyms, in that they mean the same thing.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

the $1200 from the government coronavirus stimulus payment obviously.

Please do try to keep up and stop the liberal media inspired "gotcha! efforts.

You mean they only got $1,200 in addition to their regular paychecks?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Oh like this flag? that was falsely claimed by left media to be in Michigan stay at home protests? But was actually from another location a month ago and being held by a Bernie supporter trying to pass himself off as being Trump affiliated?

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/swastika-flag-trump-pence-michigan/

We have armed, violent mobs roaming our cities - hoisting confederate flags

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

But Kentucky and Alabama do?

No, they do not, but since they don’t have the numbers of infections or deaths like NY or CA they should be allowed to return to work in certain industries.

What a picture - "American will never be a socialist country" - I have news for you Joe, you voted for the first socialist President in 2017

No, if Trump were even remotely close to being a socialist he wouldn’t have lowered the corporate tax rate, he wouldn’t have gotten rid of regulations, he wouldn’t have pushed for a strong private sector, he wouldn’t have tried to lower taxes on the job givers. And after that once the country gets back to working again in the country doesn’t have to worry about any of these subsidies which in the long term is unsustainable. We can’t just continue to go on and print money.

We have armed, violent mobs roaming our cities -

End it will continue to grow, keep the people held on longer and you will see that in every state and as long as the Democrats continue to keep the foot on the neck of the people this will only worsen.

hoisting confederate flags and waving anti-semitic signs...

What confederate flag and what anti-Semitic sign?

All Instigated and sanctioned by our President...

What has our country become?

Trump never instigated that, it was the people that got tired of this especially in the states where they don’t have as many infections, Trump is just siding with them and thinking that he wants the country to go back to work, get back to normal and more and more people are agreeing with him.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Because obviously if someone from "your side! pretended to be on "our side" would they not do the same thing with a Confederate flag? There is no proof that this person is also not a Bernie supporter just like the last time. You cant say it couldnt happen because it did. there are no Confederate supporters in Michigan, you know? so that flag is oddly out of place, to say the least.

Uh, they're specifically talking about Confederate flags. Why do you guys on the right support them? Why do you love traitors?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

liberate: Release (someone) from a situation which limits freedom of thought or behaviour.

So what did Trump mean by sending out LIBERATE tweets. Maybe his most loyal supporters can explain what he meant by 'liberate' translating from alt right/Trump-speak to a version of American English.

You can be sure, because you can read the poll where they detail their sampling data.

that is was just like the case the media swore to us a swastika flag was a Trump supporter in Michigan last week,

That is was a Bernie supporter in Idaho a month earlier who was filmed moving from the Bernie side, unfurling the hate flag and then actively waiting to be photographed. You know what actually happened.

Do you not realize Michigan was....not part of the Confederacy?

Have you ever met a conspiracy theory you haven't loved? Which is more probable: that a member of the GOP, who regularly virtue signal their support and beloved memories of the treasonous Confederacy, flew a Confederate flag, or that it was a triple-dog dare false flag operation?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

that is correct, they are getting full base pay.

But they can make more being physically at the office and able to freely move about.

In additional to their full time checks you are paying?

Im done. good day!

Moderator: Very well. No more posts from you on this thread today, thank you.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Please explain how armed protests of a very small minority of people, whose opinions are opposed by the vast majority of americans,

Not in the real States that haven’t been hit the hardest, let’s clarify that.

help these supporters and the president? Because I really don't understand. I think nobody does except you?

The more people hurt financially and the less chances the people can have at getting back to their jobs and prospects of financial ruin and panic sets in, of course the President will get a huge share of the blame, what’s saving him now is that he was always opposed to a lockdown and though it did lightly hurt him in the beginning once he begrudgingly went on board, the people forgave him for that misstep and now the opposite holds true for lifting the lockdown, he’s pushing for it and the Dem governors are holding back. Now if Trump were to go along with these Dems and buy into their socialist ways, he sure would get the majority of the blame and he would sink like a stone in the ratings, but his objections to this lockdown is helping him..a lot.

Remember, most “experts” are really propaganda experts. Their real area of expertise is making you Think they are experts. They are bureaucrats, consultants and hired guns. No better than the people who used to wear the pointed hats and wave their hands over crystal balls.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

go back to "work"- the physical location. In other words, "the office". People want to return there and get back to their normal lives. They should be allowed the freedom to do so, and will be doing that shortly. as the curve has been flattened, which is what we were asked to do. We did that.

Who is working at your business that isn't closed and isn't losing money?

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

with my point being that people got a $1200 payment ONCE. that wont last them months and months longer. so they want to physically go back to work, where they can make more money than staying home.

all good? now less focus on my situation that I just used as an example of what many others also want.

Do you really think restaurant workers are fine just because their restaurant can do delivery? They want to go back to work. They want the hours they used to get, the extra money they make in person, and the extra income generated for everyone by being able to offer full services not just a portion. They dont want next years bonuses to be diminished with an excuse of this years economic difficulty.

People want to work, get paid and be successful in their careers. We cant just "work online", attend "virtual church", watch no crowd ballgames on TV, and order "delivery" indefinitely.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Does that somehow/magically make the poll accurate?

Good point. According to whom? Liberals?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Donny and his league of the dumb are driving America into disaster.

No, the lockdown is which is what the President is pushing against. But these Democrats don't want the people to work or even try to work with medical officials to make better and safer ways for that to happen. They just want to continue this lockdown and could care less about their lives.

The person pictured belongs to a lunatic asylum and should be locked up before he poses any more of a threat to the public!!

For expressing his first amendment rights? Well, how authoritarian of you guys.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

'No time to act stupidly' has been the watchword for the past 3.5 years. Look where it has gotten the US. Stupid is as stupid does.

I’m sorry, but that really just didn’t make any sense.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

My business isnt closed and I have had no financial impact from this whatsoever.

It is simple- My workers wish to return to work. Like many other hard working Americans, they want to earn a paycheck and have a career not take government handouts and be tracked by Democratic operatives.

Look, I'm sorry your business with multiple branches is closed right now but that doesn't mean you should put others in danger just so you can make a buck. Think about others, not just your bank account.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

oh so social media (by blue checkmark journalists who work for the "actual" media) is not media now? Thats a quite strange way to parse words. Social media isnt media. got it. It just has the word media IN the name.

Please do not tell me you are confusing "social media" with actual media?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

The states are just going their own ways now without any coordination or plan.

Which is exactly what they demanded.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

SuperLib - Right. You post polls. We post polls. Neither of us give background information on the polls

Does that somehow/magically make the poll accurate?

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Uneducated people often feel this when we uneducated people are speaking. It’s the exact reason so many conservatives felt Obama was lecturing when he was speaking. It’s called nuance, it’s not our fault the world isn’t black and white like you all want.

This is totally absurd, the circumstances were totally different, we didn't have a worldwide pandemic like we have now where hundreds and thousands have died. If these leaders want to fuel a massive uprising, they won't need to wait long at all, give them another 2 weeks. This continues to help Trump.

I dont believe we will ever get this "under control" and people will be going to the doctor for this for years to come until one day it is lumped in with what we call "the flu" moving forward from there. Its safe enough for people to decide to return to work due to the low mortality rate of this, and there is capacity in the hospital for anyone who gets sick.

I agree.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Straight from the conservative media, Democrats and their ulterior motives.

Don’t blame me, talk to these Democrat governors. I’m just siding with the people that’s all.

Do you know why Michigan is on lockdown? It's not because of the virus, heaven's no. It's because of the sinister plan by the governor:

Oh, we know that already. Can’t even buy paint....smh...

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/overstepping-her-executive-authority-four-michigan-sheriffs-defy-michigan-democratic-gov-whitmers-stay-at-home-order

And she’s gunning to be Biden’s VP? Lol, he Sarah Palin moment.

Another poster here claims the Dems are doing it because they want to intentionally hurt the country to make Trump look bad,

Keeping it closed does help the Dems to a certain degree.

These darn scientists are just promoting their liberal agendas.

Yeah, darn them...

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

12% of the people.

And growing and Again, that helps Trump, like Rahm Emanuel said, never “let a good crisis go to waste.”

What? What are "real States"? Are there fake states now??

CA and NY do not represent the majority of Americans.

Let me try to explain things cleary : if there was a presidential election tomorrow in the US, and Trump was running on the "LIBERATE AMERICA !!!!" campaign only, pushing all states to reopen immediately, he would get... 12% of the vote.

Uh-Huh, not buying that for one moment. But these governors will keel over as the pressure increases, give it a week or two.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

so anyway this is tedious.

There will be another day or two of complaining until liberal states also have no choice but to begin reopening too. Then this will all go away and move to the next attack.

We dont have enough tests! California is testing people who passed away in early February to try to add them to the death count. Is that a good use of tests?

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Chip Star - The poll is accurate, but this points out conservative hypocrisy.

The poll is accurate according to whom? You? Can I quote you?

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

But carry on with this "its not safe to go to work" but its perfectly safe to allow permanent immigrants line of "reasoning". Its the trap Trump set for all of you and you fell right in.

Yeah, I don’t get that odd one either....

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

"Under control" used to mean flatten the curve. then it meant cases decreasing for at least 2 weeks. Then it meant cases down to almost zero. Now it means vaccine and everyone in the world vaccinated.

The media and liberal politicians commonly do this to us, keep moving the goalposts to keep the agenda rolling.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

If services continue to run then there shouldn't be a single objection to NOT allowing these people to continue their jobs, more people are revolting against this and the Democrats are continuing digging a very deep political hole for themselves. This helps Trump, the Democrats are giving him another win and don't even realize it.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

It’s simple. If lockdown is lifted you are not forced to go out. Anyone can return to work and start making a paycheck again. If you want to stay time some more, you can.

if it isn’t lifted I am forced to stay time. We will keep seeing mothers getting arrested playing at parks with their kids. We will keep seeing Democrat political operatives getting money to track our movements and report us.

-11 ( +8 / -19 )

Each State should decide for themselves, but know this, once the Democrat led States start re-opening and that’s soon, let’s hope they get the exact same treatment from the msm as the ones led by the Republican governors.

-11 ( +4 / -15 )

Let the Democrats reap the political fallout, solvent companies should get loans, other companies, let them fold if they must. The largest corporations have more than enough to bounce back.

-11 ( +3 / -14 )

Who didnt do this? what other reason would there be to demand Americans stay home claiming its not safe to return to work but then cry that legal immigration has been paused?

So you are part of the "stay home its not safe" crew and also part of the "but dont pause legal immigration" crew, or am I mistaken about your positions?

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Ok great, how hard was that?

So you actually agree with my position (and the Trump position) on pausing immigration. So I dont expect any attacks about that moving forward.

I dont agree with stay at home anymore because I feel it was only necessary to flatten the curve as not to overwhelm hospitals with a lot of cases at once.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Yeah not like I would actually own businesses and have employees in the USA that this negatively affects. Employees who daily ask when they can go back to work as they only got $1200.

But carry on with this "its not safe to go to work" but its perfectly safe to allow permanent immigrants line of "reasoning". Its the trap Trump set for all of you and you fell right in.

Carry on complaining about safety measures in the US from Japan.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

I must have missed where you said you **support **Trump in his temporary ban of legal immigration. Or let me guess you arent specifically saying its not safe, you are convenient against it for another reason?

It would seem so. The interesting thing is, when Cuomo repeats what the President says, he gets no pushback, Trump says it, pile on time. Both men want the country in certain sectors to re-open and they’re both right.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

Should Americans continue to be under stay at home orders and why?

Should legal immigration be paused or continue and why?

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

Nice pic of the Flu Klux Klan at it again.

Is he? How would you know? There are a lot of liberals that have businesses and aren't happy with this lockdown. Now I will say this to be fair, I will go along with barber and nail shops, but food deliveries, farmers, maintenance? Nope, I think they all can and should go back to work while following the safety guidelines.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

The man in the photo's holding a sign quoting Trump saying America will never be a socialist country.

Did he commit a crime?

While the Trump admin continues to expand on America's decades old 'socialistic' programs.

Until America gets off its feet, which brings us to the reason why people are pushing against this lockdown, they don’t want to, can’t afford and these socialistic programs can’t and won’t continue indefinitely.

Given the way Trump's personally leading some of those programs, directly involved in deciding which corporations get how much and even how much his own corporations get,

What a bunch of garbage, he doesn’t get to decide that, he can however veto a bill to a State.

-14 ( +4 / -18 )
