the move would be counterproductive because it would more likely increase the number of migrants than decrease it.

Great.

This is equivalent to giving a drowning person more water. Only in unhinged from reality Trumpland is this logical.

This is such a ridiculous Trump way of thinking about the world. He's always been full of criticism, saying "fixing X is simple, you just do Y". President for two years, and not a single time has he fixed X with Y.

It's such a low-level reductionist thought process. And he's thinking like a company president, which in politics equates to dictator, not leader of a democracy.

He's so used to working with leverage in business, that doing Y often results in X. "Just tell them we're not paying them that much. They can try suing us if they don't like it". Small company can't afford the lawsuits, so they bend.

Societies don't work like that though. It's entirely ridiculous to think that these nations can do anything about the problem - the only way would be to arrest free people for association. Is that an action the US wants to promote? I know Trump does, but what about the rest of the country? The idea should offend the sensibilities of any non-extremist (just read the responses to this post, and look at who expresses offense).

This is just one more example at Trump's inability to come up with effective solutions to matters, instead taking the approach a seven-year old child would.

This has got Stephen "Goebbels" Miller written all over it.

If America were serious about solving this problem, they'd come up a Marshall plan for Mexico/Central America, countries devastated by American policies over several decades. Installing or propping up dictators amenable to US led multinational companies that have bled the region dry, repatriating most of the profits.

Ditto Europe and their own migrant crisis. Rich countries will not solve either problem by continuing to pull up the drawbridge and capture all the world's wealth. Add climate change to the mix and things are going to get far more volatile.

When they run out of anti Trump stories they recycle. Any day now another “but Michael Cohen said....” will pop up.

as far as this money, it’s given if certain conditions that are suitable to the USA are met. Not met, no money.

Reporting the news is not anti-Trump.

I think you're confusing news with commentary.

Trump slashes aid to Central America over migrants . . .

and in the process creates an even stronger incentive for them to leave their countries and join the flood of illegal immigrants at the southern border.

@blacklabel When they run out of anti Trump stories they recycle.

Are these 'theys' you're referring to the ubiquitous 'them' (sometimes called liberals, the left, deep state, globalists, etc.) haunting the minds of far-rightists and other pro-authoritarians? Democratic systems where the media and the public in general can have an array of perspectives really seem to frighten many of Trump's true believers. No wonder so many Trump's supporters are pro-Russia, anti-US.

Feel free to go back to your safe space at Fox "News."

"Anti-trump" is a spurious accusation since every word the hapless schlemiel tweets or utters daily is evidence enough that Trump is his own worst enemy.

Good on him - US money is given out for specific purposes and with conditions, on top of this The President has announced that the US will start mass deportations of illegals from the USA.

Not if we - get ready - get the damn wall built already! Sheesh! Why should we be giving welfare to other countries when we still have many of our own citizens in need of assistance ( though fewer than 2 and a half years ago ), and a $22 trillion debt?

"As feared, a presidential tantrum will limit our nation's ability to actually help address the challenges forcing people to flee to the U.S.," Democratic Senator Bob Menendez said

How about if Bob takes up a collection? Get China to contribute.

Could Trump's secret deal with Mexico (yet to be announced) be that the Chinese (who else?) will build Trump Wall and pay for it in exchange for ending Trump's trade war with China? Nah! Trump's supposed deal-making skills are just a figment of his own cock-eyed imagination.

Yet again, abysmal, short-sighted, stupid policies from this WH. Plays well with the red-meat eating morons that are his base. Inane and insane. It’s almost as if they’re trying to drive people to migrate...
